Hi everybody and welcome to today's episode of Attendance Bias. I am your host, Brian Weinstein. There are certain months and seasons in Phish history that represent more than just a page on a calender: August ‘93, Fall ‘97, June ‘94…but there is one that overrides them all: December ‘95. A month that not only has some of the best music of Phish's 40 year career, but a month that represents their ascent from large theaters and college campuses to city-center arenas across the nation. Today's guest, Jeff Carroll, brings us to the very beginning of that month as we discuss Phish's show from December 1, 1995 at Hershey Park Arena. One month before the band would conquer Madison Square Garden, they laid waste to central Pennsylvania by demonstrating everything they had mastered up to that point, and every reason a fan would want to see them: musical mastery, a dash of Gamehendge, and Fishman running around the stage in a light-up cape after singing some late-stage Elvis. But according to Jeff, there was much more to this show than even all that.So let's join Jeff to chat about when Stash goes dark, Shakespeare, amusement park Phish as we break down December 1, 1995 at the Hershey Park Arena, in Hershey PA.

For our Tourism Tuesday conversation today, Justin Kerns from Winchester/Frederick County Convention & Visitors Bureau joined me (from the road) with his guest, Jeff Carroll, one of the owners of Vibrissa Beer. Jeff gave us a bit of background about his brewery that currently operates (and brews) from their location at Front Royal Brewing Company on Main Street in Front Royal. He explained their plans to grow their production with the opening of a new production facility in the former Winchester Star building at 2 N. Kent Street in Old Town Winchester. The new location will house a traditional taproom offering food and outdoor dining and possibly even a rooftop deck. Jeff told us about their decision to rebrand the business and how that helps them grow their distribution to other parts of the state and throughout the east coast. For more information about Vibrissa Beer, follow them on Facebook and check their website: http://vibrissabeer.com/ when it goes live in the coming weeks.

The Human Genome Project -- to sequence all genes in human DNA -- took over a decade and about $5 billion dollars to complete. Today, we can get the same results in 2 months for about $5000, or even over a weekend if we really need it. As a result, more and more people have access to genetic testing. For many families affected by inheritable conditions, these tests can be invaluable. But is this the precision medicine revolution we've been promised? In this episode of Raw Talk Podcast, we gather experts in genetic testing and genetic counselling to find out. We'll explore what genetic testing really looks like, what the results can mean for families, and learn about the growing field of genetic counselling. First, we spoke with Dr. Raymond Kim, medical geneticist at the University Health Network, who told us about the history and future trajectory of medical genetics. We also sat down with genetic counsellors Stacy Hewson and Laura Zahavich, who direct and lecture for the genetic counselling master's program here at the University of Toronto; they shared with us their challenging but rewarding experiences supporting families to order, interpret, and process genetic tests. Finally, we heard from Huntington's Disease researcher and carrier Dr. Jeff Carroll, who shared his story with genetic testing personally and while family planning. We hope to shed a light on the exciting fields of medical genetics and genetic counselling, and the growing number of genetic tools that might truly revolutionize healthcare as we know it. Happy convention week! Whether you prefer your conventions in-person, online or in podcast form, Take A 20 has you covered. In this week’s episode, we look back at the 2000 Democratic National Convention, which took place in Los Angeles and got really weird, really fast. Mark Davidson and Josh Green are joined by Staff Director of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Jeff Carroll, who explains what exactly happens at a convention and helps break down all the major moments from 2000, including Al Gore’s open mouth kiss and Rage Against the Machine’s open air concert that turned into a riot. As you might expect from a political discussion, things get heated when the gentlemen debate the greatest convention city ever (hint: it’s Boston) and the best New Jersey cover band to play at a convention party.

I'm out ill today. This cold will not kick, so I am re-posting this Jeff Carroll interview. Almost two years old, this episode is still a gem. I found out about Jeff through our private FB group. He'd been working on the development of a new community in North Carolina, and he shared some of his struggles with the local government. It wasn't the struggle or the corrupt governments that peaked my interest; it was the way Jeff had dealt with the problem and how he succeeded in spite of all the obstacles the city threw against him. He is living proof that you can fight city hall and win. Through our discussion, I discovered that he didn't just do it once. He's spent his career battling with local government to bring real affordable housing to communities across the U.S. It's a story that inspires time and time again. Enjoy! Jason Support the show.

Jeff Carroll on RE-STREETING: The NEW RULES For Career Success In Today's Volatile Economy......Hidden in Yesterday's Rock "N Roll Lyrics! @generationdrex
A special edition presenting the audio recording of Jeff Carroll and Ed Wild's Research Forum presentation at the Huntington's Disease Society of America Annual Convention in Dallas in June 2015 - entitled 'Get Behind the Bus'. Big reasons to have hope, and the latest from drug research and clinical trials across the world.
Dr Jeff Carroll and Dr Ed Wild select their personal highlights from the 2015 HD Therapeutics Conference in February, including encouraging updates on several 'flavors' of gene silencing drug, and new ways of sharing hot-off-the-press data. Plus, we highlight some ways of finding out what trials you can volunteer for, and suggestions of what to do if you're keen but not suitable for any trials right now. Websites we mention: http://chdifoundation.org (CHDI Foundation) - https://www.hdinhd.org (HD in HD) - http://hdsa.org (HD Society of America) - http://enroll-hd.org (ENROLL-HD).
Dr Jeff Carroll and Dr Ed Wild discuss the two large clinical trials (CREST-E and 2CARE) that were both recently halted early after 'futility' analyses. What does this mean for nutritional supplements in HD, and what hope is left for future clinical trials? (Spoiler alert: it's lots!) Plus, we discuss how to volunteer for trials, and lift the lid on the secret of our bespoke HDBuzzCast music (shout out to Philip Venables - http://philipvenables.com).
Welcome to HDBuzzCast, the official podcast of HDBuzz! In this inaugural episode, Dr Ed Wild and Dr Jeff Carroll introduce HDBuzzCast and talk about the five new clinical trials enrolling now or starting soon for Huntington's disease. Plus, a detailed discussion of the eagerly-awaited clinical trial of the first 'huntingtin lowering' drug to be tested in Huntington's diease. Called HTT-Rx, the drug is an antisense oligonucleotide developed by Isis Pharmaceuticals Inc. If you have questions about any aspect of HD research, send them to podcast@hdbuzz.net.
