By the mid 90s, Disney was in pretty good shape. They had a sort of resurgence with Alladin and Beauty and the Beast, and the studio seemed to have big plans in order to keep that resurgence in order. Little did people know they would turn the animation landscape upside down with Toy Story. But they didn't do it alone. With a Steve Jobs-George Lucas deal to sell the technology that would become computer animation, and an off shoot studio called Pixar putting in the blood sweat and tears, Disney really came with guns a'blazing. Almost twenty-five years and four films later, Pixar is still going strong. Join Matt, Law (who seems to be born to be on this retrospective), and myself as we do the first animated series in the Aftertaste's existence, and explore whether the Toy Story franchise and the movies contained in its realms is just as successful creatively as they were financially. Nine years after Toy Story 3 came and caused eyes everywhere to well up, garnering Oscar nominations in the process, Pixar was ready to unleash the fourth entry in the series, Toy Story 4. But things were different this time. Original series creator John Lassiter was ousted from the Pixar ranks amid a ton of controversy (don't google it kids), Mr Potato Head voice Don Rickles was no longer with us, and almost everyone behind the scenes was different. SO how does Woody, Buzz, and their crew (along with newcomer Forky) rank in this, their fourth adventure to be reviewed by Garrett, Law, and Matt? And why does this episode contain five minute dissertations about chairs and ventriloquist dummies? Listen below to find out! Thanks again to Jim Law for coming on to do this series with us. Be sure to stay tuned to the end to find out what our next series will be. Toy Story 4 (2019) (?/10, ?/10, ?/10) CLICK ABOVE TO LISTEN NOW! Subscribe to Binge Cast on iTunes

It's crazy to think that we wrapped season 2 of our podcast already. This season took us outside Phoenix to experience just a few of the beauties and adventures that Arizona has to offer. Just a few hours up the I17 we had the pleasure of spending time in Flagstaff, Williams, Seligman, and Peach Springs. Each visit we enjoyed new experiences but best of all we were able to meet new friends and help tell their stories. On this final episode of the season Rob and I enjoy great food, drink, and conversation from the patio of Reds Bar & Grill at the beautiful Wigwam resort. While we can't possibly share all our memories from this season in the few minutes it takes to enjoy a burger and beer, we attempt to share a few of the highlights from our time up north. Join in and share your highlights with us through our social media channels and be sure to be on the look out for our upcoming special episode at the TicketGuardian 500 NASCAR race weekend. — Aaron
We sit down for a conversation with living legend, ‘The Guardian Angel of Route 66’, ’Mayor of the Mother Road’, and (as we have now dubbed him) the 'Rockstar of Seligman' Angel Delgadillo. History will tell you that no one individual was more influential in saving Route 66 and consequently the towns along the mother road than Angel. As you’ll hear throughout the interview Angel believes in the power of the people. His story and movement is proof that ‘We The People’ can enact change even when the government has different ideas. Angel was born and raised in Seligman, Arizona over 90 years ago and he can still recall with great detail every date and influential event throughout his time. Angels influence goes beyond Route 66 and all the way to Hollywood. John Lasseter who directed the animated Disney Pixar feature ‘Cars’ used his interview with Angel to help inspire the town of Radiator Springs used in the film. People have come from all over the world to interview and meet Angel. In fact Angel has been interviewed over 1000 times and we are honored that he gave us the time and is allowing us to share his story. Enjoy! Special Guest: Angel Delgadillo.

This week's guests include outspoken commentator Peter Cohen, who joins Gene in a brief discussion of the decision of Disney/Pixer chief John Lassiter, once a colleague of the Steve Jobs, to take a leave of absence over a possible sexual abuse scandal. What about rumors that an iPhone SE 2 will be assembled in India for distribution in that country? The discussion also focuses on the possibilities of Apple's Project Titan, said to be an initiative to develop technology for self-driving vehicles, in light of a published report that Apple engineers have posted a report about improvements in sensing the presence of cyclists and pedestrians? What's Apple's end game? You'll also hear from commentator and podcaster Kirk McElhearn, who also offers his opinions about Apple's ongoing work on self-driving. Will this technology be offered as a platform to auto makers? Kirk also wonders if the improvements in iPhone X availability might reflect possible weaker demand as much as improved production. With reports that Apple has postponed the arrival of its HomePod voice controlled speaker system, Kirk suggests it's overpriced, and that he can probably buy Bluetooth speakers with better sound for less money, since he's less impressed with having Siri on such a device. He also joins Gene in discussions as to whether Apple ought to consider building a notebook computer using iOS instead of macOS.

From Mickey to Magneto, the rich history of characters from Disney and Marvel has populated imaginations for generations. Now for the first time, the Marvel crew are joining the Mouse House to help expand Disney's growing reach into youth culture and beyond. Is this a desperate sale? A quick dip for cash? Or an elaborate move that will give the Marvel heroes the home they need to succeed?
We shed real tears at the loss of Paul Newman, whose legendary looks and powerful screen presence dominated the movies for years and whose charitable work (through the Hole in the Wall camps for seriously ill children and Newman's Own) set an elegant example of how one man can make the world a better place. The easiest way to introduce your kids to one of our greatest movie stars is to show them Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Starring Newman at the height of his confident power and featuring Robert Redford in his breakout role, the film is a giddy love-poem to the vanishing ways of the West. Cool, even vintage cool, always translates... The kids were immediately grinning along with the comedic relationship between the two stars and can quote the film's most famous lines , "Who ARE those guys?!". Butch Cassidy has plenty of gun play -- the two heroes famously head out to their deaths in the last frame of the picture -- and shows the men with prostitutes and drinking alcohol. But, we think this classic is fine for kids over 10, as long as parents get on the couch and discuss the racier scenes (fast forwarding works, too.) You'll remember the plot turns -- it's just like riding a bicycle, which is exactly what Redford and Newman do with Katherine Ross to the tune of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head". (Rated PG for violence, Directed by George Roy Hill). The Sting reunited Redford and Newman as two card-playing con men in a beloved and complicated film which won 7 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Don't try to explain (or even understand) the plot. Just sit back and enjoy the Joplin rags as you watch these two movie stars win over a new generation. (Rated PG, also directed by George Roy Hill). Paul Newman played the voice of Doc Hudson in Cars, a great film for younger kids. We happen to have covered this film last week - for more, please visit our website. Kids get a charge out of knowing Newman was a race car driver in real life, placing second in Le Mans in 1979. (Rated G, directed by John Lassiter and Joe Ranft). If your kids know Newman only because they've seen his face on Newman's Own popcorn bags and salad dressing bottles, that's okay, too. Be sure to let them know that Newman's Own gives every single penny of profit to charity. For more about Newman, click here to last month's Vanity Fair article - the photos alone are worth five minutes.
