"It's morbin' time!" It's time once again for our annual retrospective on one of the failed franchise starters that graced silver screens (or streaming services, in some cases) from the previous year and, in a year like 2022, what better movie to discuss than the one that launched a thousand memes (or, likely more accurately, one meme thousands of times)? We talk about the Living Vampire's comic book origins, debate the genre best associated with Jared Leto's music career, Michael Keaton's inexplicable presence in this movie, and otherwise distract ourselves from the nightmare hellscape that has been 2022! Heroes Through the Decades ass kicks into the '90s, with Wesley Snipes' cool, charismatic badass vampire hunter - Blade! In 1971 the Comics Code Authority updated its code criteria, which had been in place since 1954, relaxing the rules on the depiction of horror in comics. For the first time, vampires were allowed in comic books. Marvel's first pseudo-vampire character, Morbius the Living Vampire sowed the seeds for the second; Blade the Vampire Hunter. Wesley Snipes was originally interested in making an adaptation of Black Panther before his attention was piqued with a movie adaptation of Blade. In many ways, it feels like the character of Blade was made for Wesley Snipes, and he not only decided to star in Blade, but also produce it through his production company Amen Ra Films. Snipes was literally and figuratively invested in this production. Snipes, along with writer David S. Goyer (who fought against studios trying to whitewash the character) and director Stephen Norrington, formed a trifecta of creative passion for Blade; for his story, the homage paid to Hong Kong action films and to make this story as bloody, gory and fun as it could be. Insert very '90s techno rave music here. IT'S BLOOD RAVE TIME! I would love to hear your thoughts on Blade (1998) ! GET IN TOUCH.... 2022's Morbius starring Jared Leto took a big toll on the Sony/Marvel universe……but maybe not in the best way. The Living Vampire hit screens in a bud CGI way, but was the story really worth it? That's up to Bowman to decide in this harrowing review on a movie that is a prime example why not every big break in a franchise needs so many other movies. So take a seat and listen on as we claw, glide, and groan our way through this vampire movie that really SUCKS……the drive to stay awake from us. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bemedia/support

With ownership over the entire “Spider-Man” catalog and the characters surrounding the friendly neighborhood webslinger, Sony announced plans to develop several new films that would branch out and expand the whole universe. Following the surprising success around “Venom,” the studio moved swiftly to begin developing even more projects including one centered around Morbius The Living Vampire — a character that started out as a villain and eventually became more of an anti-hero in recent years. Ideas surrounding a live-action Morbius started many years earlier when director Stephen Norrington teased the possibility of introducing the character in the first “Blade” film but that never came to fruition. Then in 2018, talks heated up with director Daniel Espinoza and Oscar winner Jared Leto about starring in a film adaptation based on the character. The movie ended up serving as an origin story centered around Dr. Michael Morbius, a brilliant mind stricken with a terrible blood born disease that would eventually take his life until he decided to conduct an experiment that repaired his body but damned his soul with an insatiable thirst for human blood…In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to drink some blood and wait for the vampire bats to fly past us as we review the 2022 film “Morbius”…
Two years after the first trailer and multiple date pushes, Sony's 'MORBIUS' has finally hit theaters. As usual with Superhero films we discuss the journey to release, spoiler free thoughts, breakdown of the characters, and the future of the character given the post-credit stingers. But does Morbius the Living Vampire exist as a decent comic book movie, or is it here to drain the life out of those who decides to watch? 2BlackNerds.com (Song: Sh!t x Future)

Morbius premiered at the Plaza Carso in Mexico City on March 10, 2022, and was released in the United States on April 1, 2022, after being delayed several times from an initial July 2020 date primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On this week's thrilling episode of The Geek Gossip podcast, Jack and Artie open up with some exciting reviews of new live action Marvel projects; the first episode of the Moon Knight series on Disney Plus and the new film from Sony, Morbius, starring Jared Leto. While both projects focused on a darker more horror-based aspect of the Marvel universe, your hosts have some different and in some ways conflicting views on the new superhero content. Which project is better? What made them different? And, most importantly, what did we think of each one in the first place? We discuss! Our dad later joins us for Tales From the Dollar Bin, in which he reviews a reprint of Morbius' first appearance and the trippiest She-Hulk comic ever made while Artie reviews an early issue of a classic Moon Knight run and, relevantly enough, a comic in Morbius' first solo series. For The Battles, Uncle Russ comes on to the show to debate with us on what may be our wackiest matchup yet; Morbius, the Living Vampire, vs. Aquaman, the King of the Seas! What'll it be, bats or fish? Vampire powers or, um, fish stuff? You decide!!! Cast your vote now by clicking this link - https://www.thegeekgossip.com/the-battles
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kim-thanh-duong/support
This week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast brings us to Sony's latest exploitation of the Marvel Spider-Man license in the Daniel Espinosa directed, Morbius. A film starring Jared Leto in the title role of the "Living Vampire", this PG-13 super hero action film seems to do many things that many comic book films have already done. Have a listen to find out why this is possibly or not possibly the worst film related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, does Spider-Man make an appearance and most importantly...Should you check this one out in theaters? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/adamanalyzes/support

The year was 2018 and a small, independent podcast called Debate This! decided to reboot some not-so-famous Spider-Man villains from the "silly sixties." Today, 39 whole months later, that same small, independent podcast will dare to do it again. We may never best the likes of Paste Pot Pete, but we'll certainly aim higher than a "Living Vampire." Andrew brings us back to the wild world of animal-themed baddies this week as he leads us Down Under. Kyle combines The Fast and the Furious with the MCU in the mashup we've wanted for years. Matt brought a mobster with a big dumb forehead, and that's pretty much it. Come take a ride with us as we try to ride that sweet Morbius SEO wave as we decide which classic Spidey Villain deserves a Leto-esque reboot. It's a tale of granite blocks, interdimensional travel, and a love untempered by an uncontrollable bloodlust. Arvell Jones makes his full-issue Marvel debut, under the inks of the legendary Dick Giordano, whilst Bill Mantlo tries to get an interesting story out of two not-particularly-interesting guest stars. Marvel dipped into its stable of horror titles in the 90s, which saw the revival of the "Living Vampire" (which is not distinguished in any notable way from a garden variety vampire) known as Morbius.
