Julie Nelson and Chris Magruder welcome Josh Wood, Executive Director of Them Before Us, a nonprofit giving children a voice in cultural and legislative conversations that too often prioritize adult desires over kids' needs. What is Them Before Us? Founded in response to the 2012–2015 cultural shift around same-sex marriage, Them Before Us uses social science research to make the case that children consistently flourish best with their married, biological mother and father — and that every departure from that, whether through divorce, surrogacy, or same-sex households, carries real costs for kids that culture has been too quick to dismiss. Surrogacy vs. Adoption & the viral "Mama" video: Josh draws a sharp distinction between adoption, which tries to heal a child's loss, and surrogacy, which deliberately inflicts it. The conversation also unpacks a viral video of a baby raised by a same-sex couple instinctively crying out "Mama" — and what it reveals about children's biological and emotional needs. How you can help: Follow and share @ThemBeforeUs on social media, read the blog at thembeforus.substack.com, support their work financially, engage your legislators, and start close to home — model a strong, sacrificial marriage for the children already in your life. What it's really about: the recent trend of huge decks of cards that supply most of the replayability for a board game. Josh gives us his POV as a designer of games with sizable...um, decks. In this episode, Bryce sits down with Josh Wood, Executive Director of Them Before Us, to unpack one of the most disturbing fertility scandals in modern medicine — a doctor who secretly used his own sperm and fathered dozens of children without patients’ knowledge. The conversation expands beyond the shocking story to examine the broader fertility industry, IVF ethics, and the lack of regulation that makes cases like this possible. Josh explains how fertility fraud happens, why legal protections are still limited, and what these situations mean for children born through assisted reproduction. They also discuss: The doctor who secretly fathered 90+ children How fertility fraud happens — and why it’s hard to prosecute IVF ethics and the debate around embryo creation and storage The role of third-party donors and surrogacy Why some advocates are calling for stronger fertility regulations Real-world cases involving genetic screening and embryo selection This episode raises difficult questions about modern reproductive technology, parental rights, and whether current laws are keeping up with rapidly evolving fertility practices. In this hour of Rush to Reason, John Rush pulls listeners into a layered conversation that moves from viral protest images to deeper questions about truth, manipulation, and control. Are the “No Kings” protests truly grassroots… or carefully orchestrated? As John breaks down questionable photos, identical signage, and coordinated messaging, a bigger picture begins to emerge—one that challenges what many assume is organic public outrage. But then, the conversation pivots. What if the real reset isn't political—but personal? Guest Shawn Collinson introduces a powerful idea: are you stuck in patterns you don't even realize? From habits to relationships, the discussion uncovers how small mental shifts can change everything. And just when the tone shifts inward, it swings back—hard. A controversial Colorado gun bill collapses, raising questions about policy, power, and motivation. Are these laws about safety… or something more personal? In a world full of noise, one question remains: what's real—and what are you being led to believe?

Today, I'm diving into a topic that's very close to my heart — the future of our workforce and the incredible opportunities waiting for young people in the trades. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Dave Speerbrecker of Thyssen Mining, and this conversation really hit home. We explored the real challenges of attracting youth into the trades — what's getting in the way — and how we can ignite curiosity, build confidence, and inspire the next generation to roll up their sleeves and build something meaningful. If you caught my earlier episode with Josh Wood of West Shore Home, you'll notice a theme. The trades aren't just jobs — they're legacies. They're the foundations of our communities, and it's up to us to ensure the next generation gets every opportunity to leave their fingerprints on the world. So, grab a coffee, settle in, and join me for this important conversation about building pathways, sparking passion, and helping the next generation take flight. I'd love to hear your thoughts — how can we do more to inspire youth to pursue careers in the trades?

The UK's King of Colour just told Kelly she should go full bleach blonde. Also, he's the reason David Bowie's hair looked so iconic! Let's be honest...most of us have no idea what our actual hair colour is. We're out here saying we're "nearly black" when we're actually dark blonde, or claiming we've "always been blonde" when we're clearly brunette. This week, Kelly's sitting down with Josh Wood - the man who's coloured the hair of David Bowie, the entire Beckham family, and basically every supermodel who's walked for Marc Jacobs. We're talking 30 years of London hair domination, Fashion Week chaos, and why he decided to give away all his celebrity secrets during lockdown. He's about to blow up everything you think you know about colouring your hair at home. From why that "one shade fits all" approach is completely wrong, to the real reason your colour goes patchy (spoiler: you're probably choosing too dark), Josh breaks down the biggest mistakes everyone makes. Plus, he reveals his Aussie dream client (hint: it's Celeste Barber) and explains why "lived-in" looks are taking over from high-maintenance highlights. Struggling to find time for fitness? Wondering how small habits can transform your health? In this episode of the me&my health up podcast, Coach Josh Wood shares his journey from a computer nerd in Minnesota to a holistic health and fitness coach in Tasmania. He discusses the importance of a holistic approach to health, emphasizing the need for movement, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. Coach Wood provides practical advice for busy parents on how to incorporate health into their daily lives, focusing on small, manageable steps. He highlights the significance of protein in the diet and the role of sleep in overall well-being. The conversation wraps up with insights on how to connect with Coach Wood for further guidance.Takeaways:Coach Josh Wood's journey began with a desire to be more active. Holistic health considers the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. Starting with small steps can lead to significant health improvements. Most people need to increase their protein intake for better health. Eating a palm-sized portion of protein at each meal is a good guideline. Sleep is crucial for managing stress and cravings. Busy parents can integrate health into their routines with simple changes. Nutrition should be additive, focusing on adding healthy foods rather than subtracting favourites. Understanding the timing of meals can enhance performance and recovery. A holistic approach allows for flexibility and personalisation in health practices. About Coach Josh Wood: Coach Josh Wood is a Tasmanian-based TEDx speaker, educator, and holistic fitness expert helping people get strong for life — not just for the gym.
