Diese Woche habe ich ein wenig Geld in mein MacBook Pro investieren. Angefangen habe ich damit, daß ich mir 8GB Speicher gekauft habe. Ich habe genau passend zu meinem MBP eine Video von Giga gesehen, wo der Wechsel der Speicherbausteine gezeigt wird. Da das sehr einfach aussah, habe ich mir kurz entschlossen, die 8 GB Speicher bei Amazon bestellt und gestern ganz fix eingebaut. Es ging tatsächlich so einfach, wie in dem Video gezeigt. Heute war nun das Betriebssystem dran. Ich hatte ja noch Mac OS X Snowleopard auf meinem Rechner und heute habe ich mir den Löwen zugelegt. Ich glaube es war sehr gut, daß ich gewartet habe und nicht zu den Ersten gehört habe, die Mac OS X Lion installierten. Ihr wisst ja, ich arbeite in der der EDV und bei uns in der Firma wird nach der Philosophie gehandelt, bei Softwareupdates abzuwarten und die Software in einem Entwicklungsstand zu installieren, die erwarten läßt, daß sie ausgereift ist und ich finde, daß sich diese Vorgehensweise bewährt hat. Nun, ich habe also heute Lion über den App-Store herunter geladen, anschliessend noch einen bootfähigen USB-Stick fabriziert und dann den Updateprozess gestartet. Es hat mal wieder alles ohne Probleme funktioniert. Nur ein kleines Manko gibt es, das Programm BOINC läuft nicht mehr. Wer es nicht kennt, mit Hilfe dieses kleinen Programms werden Daten bei mir auf dem Rechner vom Seti-Projekt analysiert, wenn mein Rechner nichts zu tun hat. Wenn die Analyse fertig ist, wird das Ergebnis wieder zurück an das Seti-Projekt geschickt. Leider hat sich irgendetwas mit den Zugriffsrechten geändert und das Programm startet mir nicht mehr, wenn ich nicht gerade als Administrator angemeldet bin, was ich aber normalerweise nicht bin. Nun, ich hoffe, daß es da bald eine Lösung gibt. Ich werde die Tage mal schauen, ob ich eine im Netz finde. Die Lösungsvorschläge, die ich bis jetzt ausprobiert habe, haben nicht funktioniert. Demnächst möchte ich mir dann noch Final Cut Pro X (Videoschnitt) zulegen. iMovie tut zwar seine Dienste sehr gut und eigentlich reichen mir dessen Möglichkeiten auch aus, aber gelegentlich kommt doch mal der Wunsch auf, etwas mehr machen zu können und sich etwas kreativer im Videoschnitt austoben zu können. Mal sehen, immerhin kostet das Programm auch EUR 239,-- und ich brauche es nicht wirklich, vielleicht warte ich noch bis nächstes Jahr damit.

The upcoming Galaxy Tab will sell for $599 or $630. With Verizon already announcing plans to sell the iPad next year, it's definitely a questionable move on Samsung and Verizon's part. Another dimension is that the Galaxy Tab is running the Android OS, an OS Google has stated as not great for a tablet device. 5.Microsoft protects nonprofit orgs from anti-piracy take down Microsoft continues its international philanthropic approach to conducting business. Microsoft is going to be providing free and legit software licenses to nonprofits that current use pirated software. Is this a good move for Microsoft? Is Microsoft doing this for the PR benefits? The crew brings up some interesting points about piracy and helping nonprofits out.
