My wife got me a pair of Meta Ray Ban sunglasses this week. I haven't had a lot of time to work with them , but I talk about my first impressions. Amazon Web Services went down this week and it took some of the biggest tech companies along with it. So much money and expertise all taken out because of one simple mistake. Apple's recently released products are availble for pickup now and there doesn't seem to be shortages of anything. Apple has been moving into live sports over the past couple of years with MLS and MLB, but now Apple has it's biggest one ever--F1. They will get the rights to F1 in the U.S. starting next year. In this episode of Double Tap, Steven and Shaun break down Apple's newly announced accessibility updates ahead of Global Accessibility Awareness Day. From accessibility “nutrition labels” on the App Store to a full-featured Braille note-taker built into iOS 19, the team highlights major leaps forward for blind and low-vision users. They also explore the all-new magnifier app for Mac, updates to Apple Vision Pro's accessibility capabilities including camera zoom and AI object recognition, and a vastly improved personal voice cloning tool.Later in the show, guests John Dyer and Carrie Morales join to discuss the evolving accessibility landscape on Android, including TalkBack's integration with Gemini AI, and whether AI-driven features could make Android more appealing to blind users. The panel debates if Apple users might jump ship as smartphone prices climb — or whether ecosystem loyalty still reigns supreme.Chapters00:00 Introduction01:49 New Accessibility Features Coming To Apple Devices06:05 The Magnifier App for Mac10:10 Braille Access and Live Captioning14:54 Apple Vision Pro Accessibility Features18:13 Samsung's New Galaxy S25 Edge Smartphone20:54 Switching to Android: Insights from ExpertsRelevant LinksApple Accessibility Preview: https://apple.com/newsroom/2025/05/apple-previews-accessibility-features-coming-this-yearSamsung Galaxy S25 Edge: https://news.samsung.com/uk/meet-the-samsung-galaxy-s25-edge-an-engineering-marvel-of-new-slim-hardware-innovationCarrie On Accessibility: https://carrieonaccessibility.comBlind Android Users Podcast: https://blindandroidusers.comAccessible Android Articles: https://accessibleandroid.com Find Double Tap online: YouTube, Double Tap Website---Follow on:YouTube: https://www.doubletaponair.com/youtubeX (formerly Twitter): https://www.doubletaponair.com/xInstagram: https://www.doubletaponair.com/instagramTikTok: https://www.doubletaponair.com/tiktokThreads: https://www.doubletaponair.com/threadsFacebook: https://www.doubletaponair.com/facebookLinkedIn: https://www.doubletaponair.com/linkedin Subscribe to the Podcast:Apple: https://www.doubletaponair.com/appleSpotify: https://www.doubletaponair.com/spotifyRSS: https://www.doubletaponair.com/podcastiHeadRadio: https://www.doubletaponair.com/iheart About Double TapHosted by the insightful duo, Steven Scott and Shaun Preece, Double Tap is a treasure trove of information for anyone who's blind or partially sighted and has a passion for tech. UGREEN Launch New Apple "Find My" certified FineTrack Smart Trackers

UGREEN have launched a pair of new FineTrack smart trackers aimed at Apple users and offering them an alternative to AirTags. The "FineTrack Smart Finder" and "FineTrack Slim Smart Finder" are Apple "Find My" certified which means they can easily be added to that service, tracked from any of your Apple devices and can tap into Apple's global network of devices to accurately locate one of the trackers should they go missing. UGREEN FineTrack Smart Finder The FineTrack Smart Finder is a small, durable device which can easily be attached to items like keys, a backpack or travel luggage. It has a user replaceable battery which can last up to 2 years thanks to a low power consumption chip. The device is capable of emitting audible alerts at 80dB which allows you to easily locate it. The device comes with instructions in the box for adding it to the Apple "Find My" service but in reality, it is super simple and takes no more than 30 seconds to complete. To the add the tracker, you open the app on your iPhone or other Apple device, click the "Items" section, click the "+" button, the app finds the tracker, you add the item, give it and name and emoji which will show on the map and you are done. It was really quick and painless. Once added the FineTrack Smart Finder's location will show on the map in the app. Any time the tracker interacts with any Apple device in its locality, its location will be updated in "Find My". UGREEN FineTrack Slim Smart Finder The FineTrack Slim Smart Finder is a card-style tracker which measures just 1.7mm thick so is perfect for placing in your wallet or inside the cover of your passport for example. It has a battery life of 1 year and can be recharged with an included magnetic clip on charger. Like the FineTrack Smart Finder, the Slim also has 80dB alerts and is similarly simple to add to "Find My". From within the app you can see the battery levels for each device. You can play an alert to help you find the tracker once you are nearby. You can also set up notifications for if you leave the device behind and where this should or shouldn't be enabled. From within the "Find My" app you can also get directions to where the device is located. These type of devices are something you hope to never have to use but if you often forget where you leave your wallet or indeed if you travel a lot, they are essential devices to have. They are incredibly simple to set up, have long lasting batteries and they are very reasonably priced. Even so, I was very impressed with the quality of both devices and they have the same quality feel that UGREEN products have in general. Both UGREEN FineTrack Smart Finders are available to purchase from Amazon. The FineTrack Smart Finder is currently available for €13.99 and the FineTrack Slim Smart Finder retails for €39.99 but there is currently 35% off.
