After Week 1 of the Tommy DeVito era, multiple Giants players are saying the team is soft and not giving full effort. Meanwhile, across the stadium, Jay Glazer said there is a widening divide between Jets players and Woody Johnson, and Boomer thinks the source must be Robert Saleh and/or Joe Douglas. Both teams need a QB of the future, which led Boomer to wonder if Aaron Rodgers, who is apparently battling injury, could be put on IR or benched like Daniel Jones? The Jets also need a coach, and have hired a firm to find him, but Gio says no way to Rex, Mangini, or another re-tread! All this, plus a pre-Thanksgiving Simms Spotlight, on this week's Best of Boomer & Gio!

We talked about the importance of having a solid backup quarterback. More than a third of the league has counted on a backup quarterback to win games this season. We talked about the Thanksgiving games. Gio said there are a bunch of good games this weekend. A caller wonders what it would be like for Saquon to break the season rushing record in the last week against the Giants. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman dunking on the Giants during last night's Ravens/Chargers game. Brian Daboll talked about Malik Nabers and other players speaking out after the loss. Eric Mangini was on the Colin Cowherd Show and was asked about getting back with the Jets. We heard Sam Rosen on the call as the Rangers lost and Boomer & C-Lo are not happy. In the final segment of the hour, Gio has a real Christmas tree and a fake Christmas tree and Gio doesn't want it up on Thanksgiving. He also paid to have the Christmas lights put up, but he won't turn them on until after Thanksgiving. Many callers talked about their wives having multiple trees in the house.

B. Cox looks back at hip-hop trio Digable Planet's debut album Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) as it turns 30. The Brooklyn-based group made up of emcees Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving met through what seemed to be fate in the late 80s. After signing to Pendulum Records in 1992, they began crafting their debut album under the production supervision of Butterfly and the likes of Shane "The Doctor" Faber and Mike "Lanching An Attack" Mangini.Using the resources available to them in two makeshift studios in apartments, Butterfly and his cohorts utilized samples from jazz records exclusively, gleaning from Butler's father's collection of jazz records. What followed suit was a project filled with lively jazz notes and deep bass complimented by crisp drum patterns and percussion. This provided the landscape for the three emcees to spit lyrics based around politics, freedom, explorations of expression, black culture and fringe philosophical views with dexterity.Over 57 smooth, yet captivating minutes, the trio developed a unique sound in a hip-hop year full of groundbreaking material. The album's lead single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" became a top 15 Billboard Hot 100 hit and is the group's signature song. It garnered the group a Grammy in 1994 for Best Rap Performance by A Duo or Group. So many people have negative associations with interventions— but Lisa and Anand's story shows how you can still experience a joyful, empowering birth, even in the midst of complications! Lisa Mangini is a writer living in Central Pennsylvania with her husband, Anand and young son. She teaches English and creative writing at a university and is in the early stages of writing a book about becoming a parent. I think Lisa is the first person I've heard of who found the EBB Childbirth Class through a neurologist! During her first pregnancy (which ended in a miscarriage), Lisa had her first tonic-clonic seizure. Lisa had to dive into a journey to manage her seizure disorder and several other health conditions, all while trying to conceive and then eventually getting pregnant. Lisa and Anand's story is perfect for anyone who is facing a high-risk pregnancy or supporting clients who are high-risk! Lisa talks about dealing with prenatal anxiety, switching hospitals and providers, deciding to hire a doula, and how a calm, experienced midwife can be a huge asset during a high-risk birth situation.
