Love Not Fear As A Core Value For Business Our guest on the podcast this week is David Henzel, CEO of Upcoach and a veteran entrepreneur who has been building in the SAAS and e-com space for over 20 years. He has had multiple successful exits, including MaxCDN. Aside from Upcoach (which just happens to be my favorite coaching platform), he has a small portfolio of companies including LTV plus, (Outsourcing for e-commerce & SAAS), TaskDrive (Sales Development), Shortlist.io (Digital Marketing Agency), and his passion project Managing Happiness (Peak Performance Group Coaching for entrepreneurs). And as you will hear us talk about today, his latest idea of bringing love not fear to the marketplace to empower us all to remember what matters most. David's passion that runs through all his enterprises is the intention to help individuals and their organizations reach their full potential. Today David shares aspects of his life that have shaped his approach to business, from growing up with Shambhala Buddhism and Catholicism to converting to Islam after marrying his wife, and then practicing spirituality in Los Angeles as he began his tech startup. He also speaks to the personal traumas that became pivot points of reflection for what mattered most to him, shifting his perspective and guiding him on different paths. Listen in as David shares the personal stories of how his mantra of love, not fear has inspired so many people in his world helping them to feel empowered and building a culture of love, deeply embedding this powerful energy within the cultures of his companies. It may be a bumper sticker slogan, but it is profound in its simplicity which might just allow David to help us all to remember that sometimes the most profound changes are small, yet if enough of us engage then the ripple effect can be what changes the world. So incredibly inspiring! If you are an entrepreneur or a business leader interested in building a business as a force for good, then I encourage you to listen to this deeply human dialogue for insights. I suspect you'll enjoy David's energy and perspective on how you too can make the most of your potential. I get the sense you'll enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Key Takeaways David's exposure to multiple religious practices and how this has shaped his life How to navigate difficult traumas in your life What to do when you feel constrained by your emotions Making decisions from love not fear, and the personal stories of why this is so important for us all How to position your business for amazing impact Memorable Quote “I'm personally not a fan of non-profit organizations. Non-profits feel like a car without an engine that somebody else has to push. I like for-purpose businesses, they make money while having their own engine”—David Henzel Episode Resources: http://www.davidhenzel.com/ (David's website) http://upcoach.com/ (Upcoach Website) http://www.howwesolve.com/ (How We Solve Website) https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidhenzel/ (David's Linkedin Profile) https://www.davidhenzel.com/lovenotfear/ (Love Not Fear Website) https://amzn.to/3QPUtLh (BOOK: Conscious Capitalism by John Mackey & Raj Sisodia) https://amzn.to/3tTyGbr (BOOK: Outwitting The Devil by Napoleon Hill) http://sacredchangemakers.com/ (SacredChangemakers.com) https://sacredchangemakers.com/community (Our Sacred Community) https://www.instagram.com/jayne_m_warrilow/?hl=en (Jayne Warrilow on Instagram) Thank you to our sponsor: A HUGE thank you to the members of our Soul Business Academy who are our podcast sponsors, and also our extended Sacred Changemakers community who are helping us to make a global impact aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, all visible on our website. What You'll Learn From This Episode: Providing an efficient group coaching The advantage of using 'upcoach' Importance of selling out of love Related Links and Resources: I would like to give 6 months of FREE upcoach; so, if you email me at david@upcoach.com then I will hook you up with a coupon code where you can get 250 USD which will be enough to last for 6 months. Summary: David Henzel has been building businesses in the saas and ecom space for over 20 years. He had multiple successful exits, including a well-known content delivery network company MaxCDN. He's passion is helping individuals and their organizations reach their full potential. Latest passion project that David is involved with is upcoach - coaching delivery platform, and a portfolio of businesses under How We Solve umbrella: LTVplus, (Outsourcing for e-commerce & saas), TaskDrive (Sales Development), Shortlist.io (Digital Marketing Agency). Here are the highlights of this episode: David says he works with several people with all sorts of background; whether they are authors, business leaders, and so forth. Some of the several problems, and one of them is how to run an efficient group coaching or how to make more impact while coaching multiple people all in one. When he started focusing on group coaching, he attained 94% completion rate in comparison to his previous DIY online course of 7% only. David says that some of them lack the confidence of selling their services. Using his upcoach can help you systematizes all your teachings. He knows that selling is difficult if it's not selling out of love. The biggest epiphany in David's life is that he used to be introverted and he hated doing sales with a passion. He attended toastmasters, public speaking courses, etc. to really overcome this exposure therapy. It worked, but the advice of his yoga teacher that decision making is either made out of fear or out of love is something that really flipped the switch in his head. When David sells out of love, he knows that what he's offering would be good for your business, he sincerely wants to improve your life. If he sells out of fear, he sells because he just needs to get his numbers, which can be difficult. David's Valuable Free Action (VFA): Start doing a group coaching and it can simply start by sending to your list, or even reach out to your friends. Start developing content. Doesn't need to be perfect, just get started with a beta group either for free or minimal price. Just keep rolling, don't hold back.

The web is made up of Pictures and Words. Some of those pictures are moving (video), but it's basically just those two things. We have easy ways to deal with putting photos and other kinds of images onto our WordPress websites with the features that are baked in, but there's so much more to this topic. What kind of images are the best to use? How many thumbnail sizes should we be storing? Should we be serving our images over a CDN? Is it a good idea to compress our images so that they make a more lean loading experience? Where can we source our images? What software is good for quick alterations to the images that we've got. Honestly, there are a dozen more questions, but you get the idea that there's a lot more to images than meets the eye. Go listen to the podcast to find out more...

Discover today the benefits of investing in yourself both professionally and personally as Fredrik is joined by David Henzel, a veteran entrepreneur who has been building in the SaaS and e-Commerce space for over 20 years. Together they discuss how to invest in yourself, why having short and long term goals can allow you to stay on track and why accountability partners are necessary to your progress. KEY TAKEAWAYS It is important to invest in each aspect of your life. This could be investing time in your family and investing in your business but it is crucial to invest in yourself. Invest in your own personal growth which is a combination of keeping yourself in shape, as well as growing mentally. A great way to grow is by investing in learning new skills and information, this can be through audiobooks, personal training, travelling and conferences. Another way to invest in yourself is by building your personal brand. Build an amazing network of people with the aim of improving the lives of each person you meet. Each time you meet someone new, think to yourself ‘where can I provide value to this person?’. This could be by offering them advice in personal development, training tips or offering them business connections. Whilst there may not be much short term gain, think of the long game and how this can help you in the future. Having a ten-year goal is a rough direction of where you want to go in life. Having a shorter 30-day goal is the actionable plan. These are the things that you want to quickly accomplish and they are goals that are achievable within that time frame. Set yourself further goals to reach in 90 days time, these are actionable goals that can easily be reached in this time frame with dedication. Without something like this, you are wandering around aimlessly without clear direction. Having someone to discuss your training with, or even to train alongside will help keep you accountable. Accountability is the key to progress. Meeting in small groups for a short period of time, whereby you talk through your personal progress will ensure you are extra accountable and help you to stay on track. Having accountability partners makes all the difference and makes it easy to stay on track. BEST MOMENTS “I like being at conferences and learning from smart people, so yes, always invest in ourselves.” “If we don’t have health, we won’t have much. We won’t have the power to endure and enjoy.” “It is okay to nose dive if you get back up and do it again.” ABOUT THE GUEST David Henzel is a veteran entrepreneur who has been building in the SaaS and e- Commerce space for over 20 years. David Henzel is the founder of MaxCDN a content delivery network that is behind many WordPress sites. The business was doing really well and things were moving along and growing when David found out that his wife had cancer. This was an earth shattering moment for David and forced him to take a step back and reevaluate his priorities. He knew it was time to sell the business. David is a serial entrepreneur who has built and sold businesses. He is also extremely proud of how he has achieved work life balance and promotes family time. He is also the host of the Managing Happiness Podcast. Today, one of the things we're going to talk about is reasons why people sell their businesses. Sometimes people don't even know why they are selling, but they know it's the right thing to do. For David, the reasons were pretty obvious. We discuss reasons to sell, the selling process, and what to do when life gets turned on its head. Episode Highlights: Planning and having everything in order with your business relieves a lot of pressure if and when you need to sell. MaxCDN had over 15,000 customers and was integrated on over 6 million websites. David knew he wanted to create a larger impact on the world and decided to sell the company. Motivations for selling businesses usually tend to be quite personal. David had received other offers to buy his business, but when his wife's illness was diagnosed he knew it was time to do something more in line with his life's calling. The selling process was quite involved and distracted him from the day-to-day business. It's a lot of work to sell a business. David wanted to find something where he could offer more value to the world. He created a course to apply business principles to family life. He also has an outsourcing business and he mentors other business people. David is an entrepreneur and is still drawn to business and business principles. Because of the resources and knowledge that David had it was easy to start a new business. Entrepreneurs see opportunity everywhere. How the needs of a buyer are often different than the needs of the business owner. When you start a business make sure you spend money on a lawyer. It's so much easier to have a custom tailored operating agreement for your business. David spends time making sure that processes are in place, so he can work on the business and not in the business. David Henzel needs no introduction. He has given up his role as a co-founder of MaxCDN to fulfill his life mission of helping Entrepreneurs & Startups grow their business & manage happiness in their life & work. David Henzel was always the “problem child.” Growing up he went to 14 different schools, smoked cigarettes and weed, and saw his fair share of struggle, including losing his father when David was only 12. He found entrepreneurship, moved to the US, founded (and then sold) MaxCDN, and has since moved back to Europe. The story only begins there. In this episode, David and Mark discuss that trying is the most inefficient way to NOT do something. Like Yoda, do or do not, there is no try. David reminds listeners what his father always said: if you have to yell, your argument is too weak. They discuss guilt and shame, serenity and gratitude, and doing things out of love vs out of fear. Remember: If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
David is a serial entrepreneur who has bootstrapped several companies. After a big wakeup call in his personal life, he realized he needed to change big time, which resulted in selling MaxCDN and launching Managing Happiness. In this episode, we get to know David Henzel from Managing Happiness. David Henzel is well known in the WordPress community for being one of the co-founders of MaxCDN. He has been published in Inc., Venture Beat, Huffington Post, Fast Company and countless other large publications. He’s currently working on both a course and a book, called Managing Happiness. What you might not know is that he recently made some important changes in his life. He moved out of the USA and has settled in Bodrum, Turkey. While he continues to advise and mentor start ups, he has sold his share of MaxCDN and now works on a course for managing happiness in your married life. This was the result of a realization that the same principles we learn when managing a business can be applied to our relationships. In this episode, David talks about his early days in the business world up till the days of MaxCDN and what made him decide to sell it. We then talk about his decision to live his life with more meaning, and his quest to make a more positive impact in the world. This is a very interesting episode for all those of you who don't know David and his projects. For those of you who know him from his WordPress days, you might be unfamiliar with his current project and this is an ideal way to catch up with what David's up to nowadays. I'm impressed by David's success and introspection, and I definitely learned a good number of lessons in this podcast.
