Struggling to break through as a copywriter in the age of AI and shrinking attention spans? In this episode of Beyond A Million, Brad sits down with Justin Goff, a serial entrepreneur with a special talent for copywriting and email marketing. Justin has built four multi-million dollar businesses across various niches, including supplements, fitness, and copywriting education. He sold one of those businesses in 2017 and another in 2022. We explore how Justin's background as a copywriter became his greatest business asset, and why he believes copywriting is far from dead despite the rise of AI. He breaks down exactly how he trains people to go from zero to $10K/month writing copy and explains why most people miss the mark by ignoring customer psychology. You'll also hear what makes email so effective today, how Justin discovers high-converting hooks, and the unglamorous truth about exiting a company — twice. If you're thinking about freelancing, scaling a brand, or mastering email marketing, you'll get a ton out of this. Look for the next point you want to hit and plan accordingly. if you stand still, you stagnate. We should always assess what the absolute best and worst case scenarios will be when it comes to planning and goal setting, but we must be aware that neither of those will be very likely to happen. There's a general belief that entrepreneurs need to be good at everything, but that's not true. Focus on what you are good at, and let others bolster you in other areas. You have to decide for yourself what success looks like and feels like in order to hit the marks. If success means money then you can measure that on a chart. If success means getting things done, then you can measure that by the impact you make. BEST MOMENTS 'What you need to plan for is not the absolute worst, but the likely worst' 'Slow down, but don't stop' 'You have to spend the time thinking about how you're going to handle both success and failure in the future' 'I'm very good at falling on my face a lot of times before I learn the lesson' VALUABLE RESOURCES Find out now if you're building a high-value, exitable business (even if you have no immediate plans to sell it). Today, I'm speaking with my long-time friend, Brad Weimert. Brad is an adventurer, investor, entrepreneur, and Founder of Easy Pay Direct—a payment gateway touted as the most critical tool on the market to facilitate high-level eCommerce. What makes Brad's business so unique is how it manages what bigger processing companies (like PayPal or Stripe) would consider to be "high risk." While these merchant accounts allow you to get set up quickly, they fail to get to know your business. And the result can lead to holds on money that you legitimately earned—or even worse, closing down your account altogether without notice. Easy Pay Direct solves this problem by underwriting on the front-end and really getting to know your business and how it operates. Through that unique differentiation, Brad's company has been able to work with over 30,000 businesses and serves clients like Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi, Hal Elrod, Grant Cardone, Frank Kern, and many others. Seeing the data behind so many companies over the years has given Brad a unique vantage point for what it takes to build a successful business. This experience led to him launching the Beyond a Million podcast—a new show that uncovers the tactics and strategies behind 7, 8, and 9 figure businesses. In today's episode, not only do we talk about Brad's entrepreneurial journey and the new podcast (launching January 20th), but we also dig into his investing experience and the most recent real-estate deal that made him a multimillion-dollar return in only 2 years. We grow the most through the pain because when we figure out that we’ve fallen on our face, we never want to do that again. At the height of the market, before everything crashed in 2006, Brad Weimert bought a couple of multifamily units in Indianapolis, Indiana. Everything looked like it was going to go up forever, and the banks were happy to loan him the money for what he thought was a great deal.It took Brad a little while to figure out that just purchasing real estate wasn’t building a passive income. The quad barely cash flowed even when it was full, and he certainly hadn’t taken into account the cost of repairs or capital improvements. If a property is only bringing in money when it’s full, that’s a massive red flag for any functional investor. But as a newer investor, Brad didn’t have a mentor to point that out.Is it reasonable to think that the value of the property will increase? Sure. But it won’t increase forever, and if it starts out overvalued, then it won’t ever increase enough to make up for the overvaluation. Now if a property is cash flowing, then what the property is worth is irrelevant. Still, Brad held on hoping things would turn around for the property. For 8 years, Brad paid tenants to live in his units. He worried that if he stopped paying, then his tenants would get evicted. He thought that he should keep his word to the bank. And he lost tens of thousands of dollars a year.Avoiding an expensive mistake like this is in your best interest. Don’t take advice from some 23-year-old investor, no matter how confident and smart he sounds. Older investors can help you see the market cycle and avoid the trap of properties that suck the profits out of your business. What's Inside:—In the lending world, the appraisal can send your loan in the wrong direction.—Does morality figure into paying off the banks on an overvalued property?—Taking advice from a seasoned mentor can help you see a property through the lens of the market cycle.

Brad Weimert is a mountain climber, adventurer, and entrepreneur at heart. He developed his entrepreneurial and marketing spirit from rich life experiences. At the age of 20, Brad began breaking national sales records as the #1 sales representative in a company of more than 30,000 and continued to do so year after year. Brad is the Founder of Easy Pay Direct, a platform that is both a merchant account provider and a payment gateway. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation: What makes Easy Pay Direct different than other merchant account providers What’s a high-risk merchant Setting up your backup merchant accounts The importance of building history The current state of the economy from Easy Pay Direct’s persepctive What is Easy Pay Direct? Easy Pay Direct is a mechanism to accept payments predominantly online. They're both a merchant account provider and a payment gateway. They work with established eCommerce brands to optimize the way they're accepting payments. What Makes Easy Pay Direct Different From Other Providers If you set up Stripe or PayPal, you can process payments immediately. But they don't know who you are, what you do, what you sell, how you sell it, how you deliver it and if you deliver it. So the only recourse they have is to control risk for themselves. The alternate way to accept payments is with somebody like Easy Pay Direct that wants to understand who you are, what you do, how you do it, how the business operates, and what the marketing model is. They underwrite that on the front end and get to know the models that have that higher likelihood so that you don't run into a problem as a business owner where they’ll have to close your account or hold your money later. What's a high-risk merchant? On one end of the spectrum, it means that the expectations are going to be met. It's a face-to-face transaction. It's a small dollar amount, and you know what you're getting when you go in. On the exact opposite end of the risk spectrum, is a supplement company that sells pills guaranteed to enhance your manhood in seven days or less. It's free, and then after seven days, they automatically bill you $99 a month. It's not FDA-approved and it's based in India. As soon as you go online, the likelihood of fraud spikes. If you're a person that wants to commit fraud, you don’t walk into a Best Buy. You order them online. So all e-commerce has a risk spectrum. It's just a question of the variants there. One of the fundamental tenants is that the gateway that they built allows you to have more than one merchant account present, and then split the volume across them. So if you have a problem with one, the others are still up and running. They want to help business owners have control over this problem. The Current State of Our Economy Everything went from retail to online. In fact, 95% of its portfolio is online. Then money will start to leave the economy. There are a lot of opportunities, but at the same time, it's not going to sustain. So you have to be prepared. There are industries that are going to do better, and also industries that are going to have challenges. But within each of those, there is still opportunity. [15:30] Brad’s craziest moment as an adventurer. In this episode… The journey to success is often slower and more complicated than many people give it credit. We love to hear stories of overnight success and rags to riches tales of glory. But the truth of the matter is that many success stories take time. Quality work and steady leadership over long periods of time don’t usually grab the headlines. Brad Weimert built Easy Pay Direct on slow and steady success. On this episode of Inspired Insider, tune in to hear Brad’s story, the ups and downs, and what motivated him to put it all on the line to start something he believes in. Why are so many business leaders and entrepreneurs thrill seekers? From running marathons to skydiving, to mountain climbing, it's a common thread among many business leaders to push themselves to the limit. Brad Weimert is no different, he learned that there is a correlation with pushing himself physically and pushing himself in the financial and business sector. It was after a trip to climb some mountains in the Swiss Alps that Brad decided that he was ready to start Easy Pay Direct. In what ways are you pushing yourself? What lessons can you learn from Brad’s story? Take twenty minutes and listen to this episode of Inspired Insider, you won’t regret it! One of the most difficult times for an entrepreneur is often simultaneously the scariest. When you have your hopes, dreams, and future riding on the success of the business that you are starting, that can be nerve racking. Brad Weimert found himself in this situation as he contemplated the steps necessary to start Easy Pay Direct. He knew that he had to make a significant risk and take on some debt to get started. Brad pushed through this difficult period and was able to build a successful business. The beginning was challenging and the success didn’t come easily but the journey shaped him into a better business leader. Make sure to catch more of Brad’s story on this episode of Inspired Insider. You’ve heard the saying, “Don’t miss the forest for the trees.” There is a lot of truth to that statement. Many business leaders get so caught up in the process and details that they can end up so focused on the smaller things that they lose sight of the big picture. Brad Weimert received this helpful word of advice and it changed his thinking. Someone once told him that “The destination is not the outcome, it a beacon.” This truth has resonated with Brad. He keeps it close to remind him not to get swept away in the objectives or goals but see them in their proper place, as guiding lights. This word of wisdom might be just the thing you need to implement today. To hear more insights from Brad, listen to this episode of Inspired Insider. Specifically they began to help “high risk” businesses susceptible to consumer disputes have stable merchant services. He started the company after his personal experience with other processing companies and wanted to solve the need in this niche. The company broke the 7-figure mark within three years despite not acquiring large amounts of funding necessary to scale quicker. Changing and enhancing your message will help you reach your audience and increase your market share. If marketing is not your strength as the entrepreneur, it's critical that you outsource or hire someone to help you. Hiring In A Tech Start-Up Without a lot of capital, Brad outsourced contractors to get the job done. As they got closer to the 7-figure mark, he was able to be strategic about the hires he made and building a team that would help them scale faster. Fast, well-done, & cheap production cannot happen at the same time – you can never have all three when you're outsourcing or hiring a team. You will need to make an investment in your team to get the quality you want. Coaches And Mentors Matter One of the most influential people in his life and business has been Tony Robbins. Robbins says, “Proximity is power”. You must be willing to invest heavily in your personal development to surround yourself with the people who will help your leadership and influence expand. If you are financially constrained, your brain works differently and your conversations are different than if you're financially free and successful. But, if you can deliberately create an environment where you are around financially successful people, the way you think about life and finances and business will change. Make choices to be around people who are intentional and deliberate about living successful lives – people who are where you want to be. Who are you around? Who are you paying to be around? How are they affecting your outlook on life and business? Master Your Hiring Process Brad's key process to success at Easy Pay Direct has been their hiring process. He outlined their system to build a great team: One of the best ways to find the right people is to use good copywriting for your ads and job postings. It's worth hiring someone to write great copy to qualify AND disqualify potential candidates. You should provide a colorful description of your company, the job and who you AREN'T looking for. Be sure to include a call to action that will help you eliminate people and narrow down the field. Next you can conduct a video interview using Spark Hire asking them specific questions to help you determine if they fit your company culture and the role. This can be automated and doesn't require any time of you or your team. A personality test helps you to match with the job role and responsibilities. A technical assessment ensures they're tech-savvy and can keep up with your team. A Skype interview will be the first interaction with you and will give you an idea of culture fit. By this point, you have narrowed the field to well-qualified candidates without wasting any of your time in the process. Last is an in-person, group interview – this is a series of collaborative tasks to see how well they interact with the existing staff. Your team can provide feedback to help you make your hiring decisions. A Healthy Culture Leads To Happy Customers The better you serve your team, the better they are going to serve your customers. It's a win-win situation and you are able to create good relationships along the way, which is the most important type of success. Life Is About The Depth & Quality Of Your Relationships In every interaction, focus on the person and the relationship instead of the outcome you hope to get from them. Connect with people on a relational level instead of just achieving a transaction. Out of those relationships you will get the results you hope for and many times even better than you hope for. Can Your Business Run Without You? I offer personalized coaching to help entrepreneurs create the business they dreamed of when they started. It's 1.5 days to tackle your current challenges and help you break through to the next level. Apply today and our team will follow up for a consulting call if it's a good fit.
