Are summer plans throwing you into a frenzy of rushing around to too many things and places? Summer often gets us fired up to do a lot; however, sometimes in all the planning, we're not taking our real energy and capacity into consideration at all. Risa Williams talks to fellow therapists, Darrin Kagele and Erica Curtis, about ways we can get more mindful about slowing down for the summer so we can enjoy being in the moment a little more. They discuss:-Tiny ways to get back into the moment so we can notice what's happening around us in the summer-Taking "micro-rests" or as Darrin calls it, "resting between the rain drops" throughout everyday life-Asking yourself: "What am I NOT doing this summer?"-Updating our ideas of what summer "should be" to what summer looks like now for us and our families in this moment-Finding "pockets of space" in our busy calendars to let things happen spontaneously and let us feel the feelings we want to feel!Host: Risa Williams, risawilliams.com, @risawilliamstherapyGuests: Erica Curtis, therapywitherica.com, Darrin Kagele, darrinkagele.comSupport the showFor info on books, workshops, guests, and future episodes, please visit: risawilliams.com.*All tools discussed on the show are meant for educational purposes only and not as a replacement for therapy or medical advice.

On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, Avik digs into how discipline—not fleeting motivation—builds durable success. Guest Malik Duckett shares lessons from foster care to entrepreneurship: using the gym to train decision-making, reframing setbacks as data, and designing daily structures that keep goals on track long after inspiration fades. This episode is a direct playbook for replacing excuses with execution—covering routines, resilience, and the psychology of sticking with hard things across fitness, career, and life. About the guest : Malik Duckett is an author, investor, clothing designer, and serial entrepreneur. He channels early adversity into a framework of discipline, consistent action, and critical thinking to create freedom in health, business, and life. Key takeaways: Habits beat hype: design a daily structure (reading, training, focused work) so progress continues when motivation dips. Train for life in the gym: voluntary physical stressors build the exact discipline required for real-world tough choices. Identity first, action follows: call yourself disciplined and act in alignment—consistency compounds. Reframe failure as feedback: analyze losses more than wins; extract what to change and iterate fast. Information overload skews expectations: social media hides the work; expect long horizons and steady repetitions. Choose your lens: circumstances matter, but your interpretation—positive, neutral, or lesson—determines your next move. Leave limiting environments: changing geography and circles can remove ceilings on growth. Motivation as a bonus, not fuel: rely on routines you control, not external hype you don't. Health is a performance multiplier: sleep, nutrition, and training create the cognitive bandwidth for good decisions. Self-evidence is the ultimate motivator: let your history of kept promises drive future adherence. HEALTHSET. Updates on my 21-Day Fast and why it's extremely hard, but good, right now. I also share the 2 reasons WHY I'm doing this fast and the 5 questions I'm praying for. LEADERSHIP. Today, I want to go deep on how to lead with vision, not fear. This includes setting a clear vision for your business or career or team rather than reacting to challenges with anxiety or short term fixes. Additionally, I will share 5-things fear does to you and discuss how to flip fear into fuel. Lastly, I share the power and importance of a “90-Day Wonder” and talk about how it can help you grow your influence, income, and impact. This is an exercise I have been doing for a long time and has been instrumental in keeping focus on the most important tasks on hand, along with keeping the vision of where we are going also. This concludes with a MUST-DO action step that will significantly help your business/career, bottom-line, and IMPACT grow. PERSONAL. There are two-things I want to share & discuss today. First and foremost, I want to share the action-steps that our team and community (this includes you!) will be taking to “give-back” and “BE THE LIGHT” up in Los Angeles, that has suffered utter decimation and still battling. There are several activations underway that you can get involved with and ALL are in today's IMPACT SHOW. We are calling this entire activation: “OPERATION IMPACT, Rebuild-LA.” WE want to help “10” families who have been displaced are in need with finances or supplies. WE want to raise funds to completely rebuild 1-gym up there in the heart of Los Angeles so that a new “Sanctuary” can be returned and birthed up there. I believe with all of our sponsors, vendors, and Community (here on the podcast as well), that we can do this. We will be doing a Virtual Speaker's Summit in early March to raise even more funds. We will have 20-world-class speakers sharing their stories of inspiration to motivate & inspire you. Additionally, Drew Brees just committed to speak at this as well to hopefully raise even more funds. This will be completely by donation and I'm confident and hopeful that we can raise a lot of money starting NOW for the virtual event. More details to come but you can contribute to the Durkin IMPACT Foundation NOW [501-c-3, tax-deductible] So three great initiatives we are underway with and hope between NOW and the next 90-Days, that we can raise a lot of money to give back to those who need it so desperately right now. Please see BELOW for ways to donate. Lastly, Momma Durkin. Please pray for her. My 91-year old Mom doesn't have much time left and she sure could use your prayers right now. I am heading down to see her in Orlando this week and can't wait to give her a big bear-hug again. Thanks for tuning-in.
