André van Heerden loves every aspect of production and it shows. The talented filmmaking hyphenate has come through the wars of independent filmmaking, still full of faith, still smiling and still eager for more. Van Heerden's wildly popular breakout film, Revelation (1999), starring Jeff Fahey, Nick Mancuso and supermodel Carol Alt, was on the best-seller lists for over two years and led the way in revolutionizing the faith-based film genre. Following that success van Heerden helmed the next popular installment, Tribulation, starring Gary Busey, Margot Kidder and comedian Howie Mandel (2000). Judgment (2001) a courtroom thriller starring L.A Law's Corbin Bernsen, the A Team's Mr. T and Armageddon's Jessica Steen was both written and directed by van Heerden. Van Heerden's Deceived (March 2002), a 21st century supernatural thriller starring Judd Nelson and Academy Award® winner Louis Gossett Jr., won "Film/Video of the Year" from Christian Beats, while the film's musical score was nominated for "Best Musical Score" at the DVD Premiere Awards. Veteran Director of Photography George Tirl (Steel Dawn) was impressed with van Heerden's burgeoning talents. "André is extremely gifted and committed to absolute quality," says Tirl of the young director. Similarly, actors who have worked with van Heerden (from Oscar winners and nominees to popular stars) are eager to do so again and all readily praise his collaborative, professional and compelling style. In addition to directing, van Heerden has played other significant roles. He co-produced the feature Left Behind: the Movie (2000), starring Kirk Cameron and Brad Johnson, which went on to become the number-one selling independent video of 2000. He also teamed up with the Left Behind II: Tribulation Force crew as Production Supervisor and Music Supervisor and then wrote and produced Left Behind: World at War (2005) starring Academy Award® winner Louis Gossett Jr. and Kirk Cameron. In December of 2007, van Heerden moved from his position of VP of Film at Cloud Ten Pictures to become its current CEO. Van Heerden is still also responsible for acquisitions and development . Recently he produced Saving God with Ving Rhames (Mission Impossible, Pulp Fiction), Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives) and Dean McDermott (Open Range) as well as wrote and directed the cutting edge documentaries Shadow Government and Dragons or Dinosaurs?Van Heerden has also written, produced and directed three seasons of a news-style TV program, and more than half a dozen other documentaries; including such stand-out projects as Vanished (1998) and Startling Proofs (1995). Van Heerden showed his aptitude for directing, a dream of his, early on. He graduated from Carleton University's prestigious School of Journalism with a combined High Honors Degree in English and Journalism. The National Film Board of Canada purchased his film thesis It's Not Just Pac-Man. Each season we will be doing a bonus episode in which we will look at a film that is in some way connected to the main season. Be it through a co-star, director or theme. In this first one we will be looking at "Rapid Fire" which was directed by "Marked for Death" director Dwight H. Little. Join our Discord  https://discord.gg/jDrUtNcRq2  Over course of the episode you will hear Scott and Kyle merrily discover way more Seaglian connections than they thought this movie had in the first place and talk about how this might be one of the 90s most underrated and underseen action movies. As well as lamenting the fact that we were robbed of having more Brandon Lee action by his tragically young death.  Elsewhere you can hear a lot of chat about this movies love for Brandon Lee's abs, our surprise at Powers Boothe being a good guy and our complete lack of surprise at Nick Mancuso being the exact character you expect him to be. As well as discussing how Al Leong truly is one of the all time best henchmen in action cinema history.

This meticulously researched book explores the concept of fame in all its fleeting glory and confounding inconsistency. Why do so many entertainers do so much better financially than peers who have comparable resumes? Author Donald Jeffries also examines a subject he is quite familiar with; the myriad of unnatural deaths which have plagued the entertainment industry since the dawn of Hollywood. The deaths of John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood, and many others are scrutinized in exacting detail. Jeffries communicated with many older entertainers during the course of researching the book, and their perspectives are included here. On Borrowed Fame will be of great interest to fans, celebrities, and anyone with even a cursory affinity for the world of show business. If you're anything like me, and have a hard time not looking at the car crash as you drive by: You will love this book. I'm dyslexic and have difficulty reading but found it even more difficult stopping. The book showed me how very lucky I've been, pursuing my passions; Acting, Class A Speedway Racing and Inventing. - Billy Gray, Father Knows Best, The Day the Earth Stood Still Donald Jeffries' On Borrowed Fame is indeed a revelatory and painful experience. It paints the big picture of the price of Fame in Hollywood. One that mercilessly illustrates through fact and story the real price paid by many of my colleagues and myself. Fame is not a blessing, it's a curse. This book is a witness to the carnage and horrible truth of the matter. Fame is not what it appears to be on the outside. Fame is a glamorous car wreck. Fame sucks. This is an important book that tells us all as fellow human beings that attention must be paid. I congratulate Mr. Jeffries for having had the courage to write it. - Nick Mancuso, Paris 2020 “It's possible to be a musician in the biggest band imaginable, and within a few years be forced to work a regular job.” That ominous statement is echoed throughout Donald Jeffries' whirlwind of woe in the world of entertainment, On Borrowed Time. Those household name actors in your favourite TV shows you assumed were well paid and would surely always have a firm foothold in show business? Not so much it turns out, as stated here: “A regular on a television series is at least as likely to have their acting career end when their show does.” The arbitrary payment structures that seem to have been made up on the spot, the blatant rip offs and the sheer number of early and often suspicious Hollywood deaths that were rarely investigated would make anyone think twice about being an actor. What an eye opener this book is! - Graham Parker, singer-songwriter If you've ever dreamed of being famous--and who hasn't--then Donald Jeffries offers a shocking literary vaccine--so you might avoid those pitfalls. Just maybe! “On Borrowed Fame,” his juicy and richly detailed fast moving dossier, catalogues the long and winding and perilous road trod by some of the most famous names in showbiz. Those talented celebs had one thing in common: They inevitably discovered that fame does not guarantee fortune-- but is often a prescription for bankruptcy and early death. I have reported on Hollywood for nearly half a century but can attest that Jeffries has entertainingly laid out the most detailed compendium of horror stories experienced by some of tinsel town's biggest names. No one is spared--from Stan Laurel to Marlon Brando to Michael Jackson. And so, so many more. His research is formidable. This is the most fascinating chronicle of show business malfeasance, mayhem and misery I have ever read. The Beatles sang “Can't Buy Me Love,” They should have added “happiness” as well! - Ivor Davis

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD *Each season we will be doing a bonus episode in which we will look at a film that is in some way connected to the main season. Be it through a co-star, director or theme. In this first one we will be looking at "Rapid Fire" which was directed by "Marked for Death" director Dwight H. Little. Over course of the episode you will hear Scott and Kyle merrily discover way more Seaglian connections than they thought this movie had in the first place and talk about how this might be one of the 90s most underrated and underseen action movies. "All '90s Action, All The Time" is produced by Scott Murphy, Kyle Hintz and Craig Draheim. Music by Elyssa Vulpes. Editing by Scott Murphy.

My guest is an award-winning actress and songwriter, Frida Farrell who stars in the true-life drama about sex trafficking called Apartment 407, now playing on Amazon Prime here in the United States and Canada – soon will be coming to her fans in Europe. For Farrell this is her story, she helped write it and even wrote the opening music for the film. The Swedish actress was rewarded for her creative efforts as Apartment 407 won international acclaim with multiple awards from all over Europe and the United States including an “Indie Award for the Best Picture at the prestigious Raindance festival in London. For Farrell, the awards and international acclaim have been appreciated but the real payoff from the film has been a large number of women who have contacted her or organizations to share their personal stories about sex trafficking or other types of abuse. She has been very gratified that her film and her own personal story of sex trafficking have brought the issue of sexual abuse to light for so many women. Farrell like all of us has been in her home in Sweden riding out the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic. But during that time she has been working on several projects including a new album that will be out soon and looking for the next TV or film project to take on. While we wait for the new album catch Farrell along with Nick Mancuso in Contract Killers now on Amazon Prime Video. The film brought her the honor of the “Breakout Female Star” award at the Orlando Film Festival and other competitions worldwide. The film established Ferrell as a true leading lady and a badass action star. "Your Weakest trait is your Strongest trait on steroids!"Think about that... the thing that characterizes you the most, is also the thing that can be holding you back. Life is about balance. If you are the most determined person you know, and when you set out on a goal you know you'll achieve it, think about how you got there? Does it mean you did everything yourself and therefor other things got passed up or neglected? Could you have delegated some of the things you needed to do to free up time for other things? You have to balance your traits! This is Made to Motivate Season 2 Episode 29 and you'll be joined solo by Host Ryan Weiss. We had some scheduling conflicts this week, so Co-Host Nick Mancuso, and Jesse Unk from Sports Illustrated couldn't make it over for this recording, but being as dedicated to the show as we are, Ryan hopped on to just talk life with y'all and make sure you all had some weekly content! I'm going to be upfront and honest with you, this isn't your typical structured show, we usually release each week. I just went in knowing that I wanted to communicate some sort of positive message, touch on our roots from episode one, and do something to try and motivate you all. I talked life, pre and post covid, plans for after this all passes, how we need to be more conscience of how we treat each other, making sure we are aware of the things we share and how it impacts others, being dedicated to your craft and talking about how YOU and only YOU can dictate your future and your success. It was a lot of me just talkinggggg! Host Ryan Weiss, Co-Host Nick Mancuso, and Co-Co-Host Jesse Unk, sit down to remember a legend. This episode came right in the wake of the loss of one of the greatest of all time, Kobe Bryant. His passing was announced a couple hours before the guys were supposed to sit down to record episode 4. It seemed only fitting for us to change up this show and pay our respects. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone else involved in this horrific accident. He was much more than just a basketball player. He was a legend both on and off the court. His stats alone show the impact he had on the game. Off the court he was multilingual. He learned several languages so that he could communicate with his teammates that did not speak English fluently. He spoke Italian, Slovenian, Spanish, French, and Serbian. He was a huge supporter of women's sports, advocating for the WNBA, and also an avid soccer fan. He was a father of 4 wonderful daughters, and husband to his wife Vanessa, of 20 years. Kobe passed in a helicopter crash, along with his daughter, Gianna, on January 26, 2020. He will be remembered for the Legacy he has left on the NBA and the impact he has had on people across the world. "You will never overcome, what you will not confront." Welcome To Season 2 Episode 3 - Fighting Addiction: A Recovery Story! The guys put together a great show for you this week! Host Ryan Weiss, Co-Host Nick Mancuso, and Co-Co-Host Jesse Unk are joined by Permanent Guest Chris "The Film Freak" Kessinger, and Very Special Guest Ryan Labelle! In typical fashion, the guys spend a portion of the show being funny and just having fun talking about their week. Ryan went to Kalahari, Nick saw 1917, Jesse lost to Chris in Billiards, Ryan received an apology from a Amazon Delivery Driver, and they did quite a bit of Netflix and Chilling. We break down 1917 and it's incredible cinematography, Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez, 'The Circle' and whether or not people online are authentic in their Social Media 'Lives' or if we tend to create a fantasy life to portray a false sense of happiness, Eminem's recent album, and what place does kneeling in protest belong at the high-school level. Fun and Games aside, this week the guys got pretty serious and invited a special guest to the show to talk about something very important; drug addiction and how to get to recovery! Ryan Labelle is a recovered addict who has an amazing story. From age 12 to 25ish, Ryan battled with addiction stemming from just smoking cigarettes and getting drunk to battling heroin addiction, doing time in jail, and other life battles. His story is so inspiring and it's amazing to see where he is today. Settle in and listen to his story unfold and find out how he made it to 28 years old and is now clean and thriving! He offers some great insight, advice, and tells us how he finally made the decision to take control of his life. If you, or someone you care for is battling with addiction, please, take advantage of Ryan's story and share this episode with them. His interview is timestamped below so you by no means need to listen to the entire show if you don't want to. But if his story can inspire someone, help someone make the decision to fight for their sobriety, or instill some hope in someone's life, then please, share it! We wanted to have him on to help motivate others and offer some inspiration that there is hope. It is possible to change and get your life back! So stick around for our monthly show that will come every first Sunday of the month starting on February 2nd, which will be the first episode of season 2! We will go back to weekly shows toward the end of August. Thanks to everyone who has listened and followed Season 1 and we look forward to what Season 2 and 2020 has to bring!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/madetomotivatepodcast/posts)

Host Ryan Weiss, Co-Host Nick Mancuso, Ball Tap Victim Jesse Unk and Santa’s Helper Chris Kessinger are here to talk all the things! Nick thinks he’s Gordon Ramsey. Jesse claims to be the ball tap champion. Who’s got the best wings?! Do you like your bacon burnt? How hot is XXX hot sauce? The gents discuss a bunch of random stuff until hitting on two Hot Topics. Misleading News headlines and how they can be detrimental to businesses. A recent headline out stated how Uber had 420+ rape allegations this past year. This is a lot. However if you dive into the article the headline is misleading! Should Michael Vick be forgiven and allowed to participate in the NFL? Are we a non-forgiving society? Is doing your jail time sufficient punishment to allow you to continue doing the things you did prior? The gentleman break these two topics down and things get pretty heated discussing Michael Vick. It was definitely a divided segment of PodTalk. Listen in to see who voted if he should be allowed to participate and who thinks he should be done when it comes to the NFL. This was a good episode.
