[00:00:00] - Joe returns from Mexico and shares travel stories involving cheap booze and some sketchy logistics. The crew transitions into the release of JFK files, highlighting the disappointment that no conclusive “smoking gun” was revealed, despite Rep. Paulina Luna claiming NBC has unseen Oswald footage. [00:10:00] - Speculation about the hidden Oswald footage continues. Talk turns to media cover-ups, the CIA's possible involvement, and the suppression of controversial stories like Epstein. Then, the show pivots to bizarre headlines about robot dogs, AI homes, and MIT's proposal to use ethically-sourced human bodies in medical research. [00:20:00] - The gang dives deep into the implications of lab-grown human bodies without minds—used for organ harvesting or testing. They joke about AI-human hybrids, but note the serious ethical red flags. References are made to China's organ industry and the elite's likely monopolization of such tech. [00:30:00] - Continued discussion on "empty vessels" and the MIT article suggesting artificial wombs and AI integration. The idea of using cloned human shells without brains is dissected. Hosts mockingly suggest using these shells as “defective products” with customer complaints. [00:40:00] - A strange true crime case is explored: Peter Bergmann, a man who meticulously erased his identity before dying mysteriously on an Irish beach. The situation mirrors Missing 411 cases—neatly folded clothes, strange behavior, water nearby—sparking theories about his intent and identity. [00:50:00] - Theories swirl around Bergmann's story: Was he terminally ill, a spy, or something else? Mike credits a Discord user for the tip. Then Joe shares a revelation: he's come around on ancient pyramid theories and now believes in advanced prehistory and lost civilizations. [01:00:00] - Comedy breaks enter with a satirical AI ad about the “George Droid,” packed with racial and corporate parody. They analyze how bizarre and well-produced these AI skits are becoming, connecting it to past stories like Hasidic Jews digging tunnels under a building in NY. [01:10:00] - A political segment mocks Biden's speech flubs and contrasts them with more articulate figures. The gang talks Tesla's Democrat-heavy user base, leftist protests, and a satire piece on the Department of Imaginary Concerns by Scott Adams. Governmental overreach and absurdity are recurring themes. [01:20:00] - Signal's possible compromise sparks a chat about surveillance and government setups. They vent over bureaucratic waste, citing fraud and COVID relief abuse. Gavin Newsom's home repair regulations are mocked to highlight nonsensical red tape and overregulation. [01:30:00] - They unpack global population data, suggesting billions may be uncounted. The inaccuracy of rural census data is criticized, and theories emerge about shadow populations and manipulated demographics. They mention satellite and mobile data as better population estimators. [01:40:00] - A wild story out of New Jersey breaks: a police chief accused of disturbing workplace pranks, including spiking coffee with Viagra, setting off firecrackers, exposing himself, and jabbing an officer with a needle. The crew debates the difference between pranks and criminal acts. [01:50:00] - Another quirky tale: A Ford executive kept a 15-year-long spreadsheet of coworkers' malapropisms and linguistic flubs, turning it into a leaderboard of grammar fails. They laugh at some of the worst offenses like “reinvent the ocean” and “broken drum.” It's the nerdiest kind of office drama. [02:00:00] - The show wraps up with musings on civil war hysteria, AI integration into society, and weird AI-assisted ramblings about eastern medicine. They joke about penis scandals, secret cybernetic creations, and speculate on how medicine and society are morphing in dystopian ways. “MYSTERY, MISMANAGEMENT, and MAYHEM on the SS MORRO CASTLE” #WeirdDarknessRadio WEEK OF MAR 16, 2025==========HOUR ONE: Jeannie Saffin already had a tough life, being born with a birth defect that stunted her mental growth, leaving her with the mind of a child, never getting married and having kids, never dating… but that all pales in comparison to how she died: bursting into flames for no apparent reason. Was Jeannie Saffin the victim of spontaneous human combustion? (The Spontaneous Combustion of Jeannie Saffin) *** Sometimes it's easy to get a girl to go out with you – just be polite and ask. Some men resort to cheesy pickup lines thinking it will help their chances. But one man chose to call upon a woman in a very unusual way… by purchasing a gravestone. (Pitching Woo With a Tombstone) *** If a man demands his girlfriend give up the baby they conceived, otherwise he would no longer be with the woman – what is that newborn's mother to do? Sadly, Emily Dunn made the wrong decision – with tragic results. (The Durbin Baby Murder) *** The transplanting of an organ is almost a routine procedure now in the 21st century – even doing a transplant of an arm or a leg isn't uncommon. But when you talk about transplanting a living head onto a dead body – that's when things get tricky. But Robert White thought it could be done – and even tried doing it. (The Man Who Wanted To Do a Head Transplant) *** Imagine getting onto a plane and once in the air finding out that the pilot wasn't qualified to fly that kind of plane – and that he was only there because the original pilot wasn't available due to being dead. That's what happened in 1934 on the boat, the SS Morro Castle. And it was the beginning of tragedy after tragedy. (Mystery, Mismanagement, and Mayhem on the SS Morro Castle)==========HOUR TWO: In June of 2009 a man calling himself Peter Bergmann checked in to a hotel in Sligo Town. Five days later his body was found on Rosses Point Beach. But Peter Bergmann was not Peter Bergmann – so who was he? (The Peter Bergmann Mystery) *** Sharing stories from people who are frightened by a bump in the night or a strange shadow on the wall in their bedroom is one thing, but when you get professional ghost hunters telling of the scariest experiences they've had, you know it has to be some freaky stuff. (Scariest Experiences of Ghost Hunters) ==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: More of the scariest experiences of ghost hunters! *** I'll tell you about that time when a dam failed – and because of it, people were legally allowed to marry the dead. And still do to this day. (That Time A Failed Dam Led to Marrying Corpses) *** Personal experiences of those who have stayed at the Wolf Creek Inn, plus some hard evidence, seems to indicate that spirits who haunt the place are not only benign in nature, but even protect the guests and owners from other malevolent spirits which roam there as well. June 16, 2009. Rosses Point, Ireland. The body of a man who appears to be in his late fifties or early sixties is found washed up on a beach and his cause of death is believed to be acute cardiac arrest. Four days earlier, the man had arrived in the nearby town of Sligo and checked into a hotel under the name “Peter Bergmann”, but it turns out this name was fake and he carries no identification. Investigators believe that he travelled to Ireland from another country and use CCTV footage to track his movements in the days prior to his death. They theorize that he spent time gradually disposing of items which might have provided a clue to his identity, but no one ever comes forward who recognizes this man. On this week's episode of “The Path Went Chilly”, we explore a unique mystery involving an unidentified decedent known as “Peter Bergmann”.Patreon.com/julesandashleyPatreon.com/thetrailwentcoldAdditional Reading:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Bergmann_casehttps://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/people/the-unsolved-mystery-of-peter-bergmann-1.3923308https://www.vice.com/en/article/8xwkdg/peter-bergmann-case-crime-sligohttp://www.irishcentral.com/news/The-man-who-went-to-Ireland-to-disappear-VIDEO.htmlhttps://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/inverness/2410021/north-forensic-artist-provides-assistance-in-bid-to-solve-11-year-mystery-of-peter-bergmann/https://www.independent.ie/regionals/sligochampion/news/mystery-mans-last-surprise-27570679.htmlhttps://www.lemonde.fr/m-moyen-format/article/2015/03/12/l-homme-qui-voulait-effacer-sa-vie_4592522_4497271.html

Join Kyle and Ardon as they delve into two of the most perplexing cases we've ever heard of; The Somerton Man case and the Peter Bergmann case. EPISODE CONTENT WARNING: MENTIONS OF SUICIDE On Dec. 1, 1948, beachgoers came across a dead man on Australia's Somerton beach. Well-dressed, and with no signs of trauma, his identity and cause of death eluded local police. Soon, investigators dubbed him the “Somerton Man.” As their investigation deepened, so did the mystery. Not only did the man's possessions offer few clues, but investigators also found a slip of paper in the man's pocket which read “Tamám Shud,” Persian for, “it is finished.” It wasn't until as recent as 2022 that the identity of the Somerton man had been identified. The circumstances of the Somerton Man's death were so confusing, that it also started a media frenzy. The Peter Bergmann case pertains to the mysterious death of an unidentified man in Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland, on or around 16 June 2009. The man, using the alias "Peter Bergmann", had checked into the Sligo City Hotel on 12 June, where he stayed during the majority of his visit to Sligo. The man's movements were captured on CCTV throughout the town; however, the details of his actions and intentions remain unknown. His interactions with other people were limited, and little is known of his origins or the reason for his visit. Hold on to your asses, because things are about to get backwards! https://linktr.ee/backasswardspod
On this episode we are discussing the mysterious death of "Peter Bergmann". On or around June 16, 2009, there was a mysterious death of a man in Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland. This man was using the alias "Peter Bergmann" at the Sligo City Hotel, where he stayed during the majority of his visit in Sligo. This man's movements have been captured all over the town on CCTV footage. Noone knows the reason for his visit, but we can speculate. This case resembles a few other European mystery deaths such as, The Somerton Man, The Isdal Woman and the "Jennifer Fairgate". So give us a listen and see what you think the reason was for this mystery man's visit. We also talk about a bunch of other crap you probably won't care about, but either way, you're welcome!
In season five; we told you the story of the Somerton Man who for decades, people have been theorizing on who he could be. He was found dead on a beach in Adelaide, Australia in 1948. Some believed he was a spy, others thought he was a jilted lover, or perhaps even a professional dancer. But did you know that there is another case that is quite similar to the Somerton Man? In fact, it is so much so that the deceased involved is called the Irish Somerton Man. So get comfortable my spooky friends…you are about to hear the mysterious tale of Peter Bergmann. We got merch!
