Welcome to episode 262 of the Women's Running podcast. I'm your host Esther Newman and she's your other host Holly Taylor. On this podcast we talk about health, politics, stuff on TV and what we ate last night. Occasionally, we talk about running. This starts off as one of those therapy episodes. We launch into a lack of jolliness and motivation in the middle of summer, while we're trying to navigate weather that doesn't feel too brilliant (don't worry, we perk up fairly quickly!). We talk about how we're adapting our training plans to fit us and the weather, rather than adhering to them religiously. We also discuss the summer juggle, and how we're managing the feeling of overwhelm. One way, of course, has been to celebrate the Euro's, so we chat about women's Football, and how brilliant these role models are for kids.Speaking of which, we feel we need to continue our chats about PE lessons – there's more from you lot, which is fascinating, and we have some ideas for new PE lessons in the future, and I think we're on to something! At the end, Holly talks about the very exciting thing she's doing on 13th September, when she'll be interviewing the legendary Kathrine Switzer at the Take the Baton conference. Make sure you pick up your tickets to go and watch! Google the Get The Baton conference if the link doesn't work in the show notes!Lovely extra bits · Get your tickets to the Get the Baton conference, so you can witness Holly chatting to the legendary Kathrine Switzer on 13th SeptemberSubscribe to Women's Running – and you can save 50%· Find your perfect holiday wetsuit from OrcaGet tickets to our live event ahead of the Bath Half 2026!Setting up your own podcast? Some days, you just wake up in a mood and instead of forcing yourself into gratitude, maybe you should lean into it. In this episode, Chalene shares why she gave herself permission to stay cranky, the oddly satisfying art of not taking the high road, and what happens when you stop over-filtering your opinions online. From internet trolls to the echo chambers shaping our beliefs, she's calling out why we all feel the need to add disclaimers to everything we say (and why it's exhausting). Plus, you'll get a hilarious reality TV recommendation you didn't know you needed, and a sneak peek into her upcoming deep dive on the GLP-1 craze.

But then we quickly move on to the highlight of Holly's holiday (that's hard to say) in Berlin, which is something she would always do, but something I would never do. What You'll Learn: Why some women feel invisible as they age—and why it's deeper than looks The unexpected link between your environment and your self-worth How social privilege plays into perceived value (pretty, thin, white, etc.) Why long-term couples struggle with desire (even when love is strong) Practical tips inspired by Esther Perel on reigniting spark in a committed relationship

In this deeply honest and unfiltered episode, Chalene gets real about what it's actually like to be 56 not the highlight-reel version, but the messy, beautiful, contradictory truth of her life today. From running successful businesses and stepping away from them, to what it means to be a personal brand, and how fame quietly shapes your every move (even at Target), Chalene pulls back the curtain. She opens up about the hard lessons, the quiet blessings, and the ongoing battle to slow down and just be. And yep she even shares the story behind one of the hardest (and best) things that ever happened in her marriage. What You Will Learn: The hidden downsides of being a personal brand How Chalene decides when to walk away from a successful business The surprising truth about fame, freedom, and public perception Why Brett's gambling addiction turned out to be a blessing The habits that keep her marriage strong after 35+ years How Chalene manages her time, creative drive, and emotional energy in midlife Why “average” can actually be a secret superpower

This episode is a deep dive into the Coldplay kiss cam scandal and what it reveals about viral gossip, cheating rumors, and the chaos of online misinformation. Chalene breaks down how a 5-second concert clip spiraled into fake statements, false family members, and totally unverified news stories and why none of us are immune to getting sucked in. And yep, Chalene also talks about what people are saying about her online (including that video from Abbey Sharp) and why you've gotta stay skeptical even of the stuff you want to believe. What You Will Learn: Why the Coldplay kiss cam video went insanely viral How fake stories and “internet detectives” spiral into false narratives The psychology behind gossip, betrayal, and public shaming How algorithms manipulate what you see—and what you think you know Chalene's take on public callouts (including what she really thinks of Abbey Sharp) Why is it more important than ever to pause and ask, “Is this actually true?”

These are the realities of what happens to people (and teams) who do the right things over and over again. Success comes to those who do the right work and stay consistent. Last time I checked, none of your insurance carriers pay any "consolation commission" when you come in 2nd place. It's all or nothing, baby! If you sow inactivity, you will reap the wind. If you sow inactivity for long periods of time, you'll reap the whirlwind. If you don't do the proper prospecting work, you won't schedule any new business appointments or win any signed BOR's or secure any deposit checks. The choice is yours. In this throwback episode, host Charles Specht reminds, motivates, and guides you on what and why you need to reconsider what you're doing in order to get the results you actually want. Key Topics: Why being busy doesn't mean being productive The real reason you're not getting appointments or BORs How second place in sales pays nothing literally The time audit every producer needs to do How the wrong daily tasks kill your commissions Why consistent prospecting is the only path to winning Imperfect action beats perfect inaction every time Reach out to Charles Specht Visit: Permission Network Produced by PodSquad.fm

Ever feel like you're living with someone who's always running late, forgetting things, or totally oblivious to how much time has passed? Or maybe you're that person? In this episode, we're breaking down time blindness—a real, brain-based struggle that affects people with ADHD, whether they've been diagnosed or not. Chalene opens up about what it's like to live with ADHD as an adult and how it's impacted her marriage, parenting, and those always-chaotic travel days. You'll hear expert insights from Dr. Russell Barkley and personal stories from both Chalene and Bret, who also shares his hilarious (and brutally honest) rebuttal about what it's really like to travel with someone who has time blindness. Whether you're team “why can't you be on time?!” or team “I swear I'm trying,” this episode is full of lightbulb moments, laughs, and a whole lot of validation.

We wanted to drag her on this issue cos Hol is very interested in Hyrox, and Laura not only knows what it is, she's actually done one, and has all the info and lots of thoughts on who else should participate. She tells us it's way more inclusive than it sounds, and that it's brilliant for women, despite what you might see on social media. Chalene's unpacking the whole Lake Tahoe 4th of July trip — from airport chaos to karaoke in a Christian Uber, to what happens when security guards go full psycho. She also gets real about what it's like traveling without Bret (spoiler: it involves four-inch heels, zero gate info, and lots of airport pacing). Plus, she opens up about her “non-drinking but not sober” approach, board game trauma, TikTok shopping obsessions, and the dark side of trashy reality TV like Love Island.
For the first time ever, Jason Cass steps away from his usual off-the-cuff style to read from a script—and for good reason. He dives into a concept that hit close to home: comprehension debt. It's about the gap between what you know and what you can truly live and lead. If you've ever struggled to explain what you believe in, this one's for you. Key Topics: Understanding and overcoming comprehension debt in leadership Transforming technical manuals into powerful stories The evolution of agency operations with AI-driven frameworks Why internalizing knowledge matters more than memorizing it Building a community of AI champions through shared learning Turning stuck moments into strategic transformation Creating impact by teaching through your own evolving story Reach out to: Jason Cass Visit Website: Agency Intelligence Produced by PodSquad.fm
KJ and Meredith are sitting down with fellow Pod Squad member August (Saving People, Queering Things) and first time guest Nell (Totally Normal About That) to talk about this very destiel-heavy episode of the CW's Supernatural. There are two things we know this week: Bert and Ernie are gay, and so are Dean and Cas. KJ does in depth analysis about Sam's sleeping positions. Want to future-proof your insurance agency? Jason, Shawn, and Stephen talk about the tech that matters, the tasks worth automating, and why relationships still lead the way. Key Topics: AI is a tool to enhance—not replace—relationships in insurance. The biggest mistake agents make is staying siloed instead of connecting with others. Agencies need to stop chasing what's changing and double down on what stays the same. Efficiency gains from AI can be redeployed into productivity, but that window won't last forever. Licensing staff numbers will shrink as bots and VEs take over repetitive tasks. ChatGPT isn't a shiny object—it's a foundational business tool if used right. Agency success will hinge on vision, implementation, and customer focus, not fear of new tech. Insurance agents who struggle at setting new business appointments with prospects, or winning signed Broker of Record Letters, or winning through a quoting process, are typically agents that don't have a Competitive Differentiation that makes the prospect say, "Wow!"
