Susie and Sarah are headed to a baseball game, but first Susie needs to explain the importance of safety and the precariousness of Buc Fever after a man recently fell at a game. We disuss the P Diddy sketch artist who appears to have the same talent as the recent caricaturist Sarah had, and why Sarah thinks he doesn't know how to draw people of color. We talk about the Pee Wee Herman documentary, how he came to resent the character he created, and how creativity can be a burden. Susie describes the Nathan Fielder docu-comedy series, The Rehearsal, and the way pilots could be saved through a small change in training and how the comedian is trying to save lives through updates to aviation.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Get 25% off your first month of Ritual when you visit https://ritual.com/BRAINCANDY and add Essential Protein today.New customers can get the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara and a mini-sized Brilliant Eye Brightener at a special set price with free shipping at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Paul Joy is a School Chaplain, ordained Baptist Minister, religious TYP listener (pun intended) and freakishly talented Sketch Artist (weird combo, I know). I might be insulting some religious folk when I say that he's uncharacteristically relatable, real and open-minded but.. oh well, I said it. Sorry, not sorry. Anyway, we decided to get together and chat all things God, religion, the validity of the bible, love, connection, the co-existence of faith and doubt, the declining numbers in (most) churches, Christianity's 'PR' problem, my church journey and plenty more. I very much liked this chat.handdrawntoday.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.

Jane Labowitch started playing with an Etch A Sketch when she was only four years old. She's been able to combine a talent for drawing with the very precise movements needed to make the toy do what she wants it to do. She's known as Princess Etch, is a professional Etch A Sketch artist, and has been recognized by Ripley's Believe it or Not for her incredible creations. When you consider an Etch A Sketch requires everything to be drawn via one continuous line, you can imagine how much creativity it requires to develop the complex, detailed scenes she loves to design! There are several sizes of Etch A Sketch these days, so her canvas (so to speak) ranges from using the classic size which is about 9 inches by 9 inches, all the way to mini ones that measure only about 1 inch by 2 inches. And if you remember playing with this toy, you'll recall that the images you make aren't permanent; with a quick shake you're back to having a blank screen. On this episode, host Angela de Burger chats with Jane about creating such a unique career for herself, her creative process when starting a new piece, the prep she needs to do before drawing the first line, the creative challenge she faces when doing real-time live drawings for an audience, and what it was like to be featured by Ripley's Believe it or Not for her unusual talent.
