Fisayo Oluwadiya is a principal software engineer for a large organization, working remotely from Manhattan who's side hustle is developing a web application to help people with special dietary requirements find the best restaurants that meet their needs. This idea stemmed from her self-proclaimed obsession with food. While working as an engineer for big name organizations such as JP Morgan, Major League Baseball, and Nordstrom, she has always written restaurant reviews as a food blogger. It wasn't until she joined her current employer, a large entertainment organization, that she decided to turn her passion into something more impactful, combining it with her talents as a software engineer. During this episode, Fisayo Oluwadiya will discuss her new personalized eating out guide she's developed to help make it easier for people with special dietary preferences to find their best meal match.

Why do we eat? On the surface it seems like a simple question – we eat because it's biologically necessary for our survival. But for us humans, it's a bit more complex than that. We eat for a number of reasons. We eat for social and emotional reasons, to celebrate big occasions, or as solace when we're depressed or anxious. Some of us have religious or ethical guidelines for eating. Many of you listening to this podcast eat to fuel your fitness goals. Powerlifters, body-builders, endurance athletes, and Crossfitters all eat in a prescribed manner to fuel their activity. Many of us eat in order to lose – or gain – weight. If you're at all interested in health and fitness, then you care about nutrition and would like the way you eat help you achieve your body composition or athletic goals. Or perhaps your goals aren't as ambitious, maybe you just want to eat healthier in order to be healthier. Today we're going to talk about another reason to eat – to optimize your sexual health. My guest today on the Over 50 Health & Wellness show is Christine DeLozier. Christine is an acupuncturist and herbalist who specializes in sexual health. She holds master's degrees in acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine and counseling, and is a certified holistic nutrition counselor. She is the author of the book titled Diet for Great Sex: Food for Male and Female Sexual Health, which uses scientific evidence to uncover the best dietary habits for great sex merging modern science with traditional Chinese medicine. Join us this week as Christine discusses in detail what we should all be eating – and why – in order to optimize ourselves for great sex!Visit Christine's website at www.dietforgreatsex.comYou can buy Christine's book Diet for Great Sex at Amazon or your favorite book sellerInstagram @dietforgreatsexChristine mentioned Host Defense during this episode. 'What should I serve guests with dietary restrictions' Over the past few months, this has without a question been our most commonly asked question! Let's be honest, it can be intimidating! After years of eating, cooking and catering gluten and dairy free myself, I have learned quite a bit along the way. Through this Date with Kayt we will talk through: -How the way we talk about and serve special diet foods can divide a table...and how to make sure that doesn't happen. -How to use the recipes you already love to serve special diet guests -Checking labels and being cautious about hidden gluten and dairy in common products -4 gluten and dairy free menu options with flavor packed and hearty meals that everyone can eat, and everyone will enjoy! Curious about where to find certain ingredients or could you use help with an upcoming menu? Email us at Ciao@Gatherintentionalliving.com and we'll include some of the questions in the next episode!
Bible Reading: Romans 14:1-7, 22-23"Mom, how come Christians have such different ideas about right and wrong?" asked Avery one day. "You and Dad won't let us watch some movies that Stella's parents think are okay. And Naomi says her family avoids doing certain things on Sunday that we do almost every Sunday. Why can't Christians agree on what's right and what's wrong?""There isn't a simple answer to that, but…" Mom hesitated. "We're having Uncle Paul and Aunt Sue over for dinner tonight, right? And we'll all eat quite differently. Aunt Sue has diabetes and avoids starchy foods. Uncle Paul is on a diet to lower his cholesterol.""And Daddy wants to lose weight." Avery giggled. "I guess he'll eat a big salad and not too much of the other stuff."Avery's brother Cole spoke up. "Yeah, but what does that have to do with it?""Well, people have different physical conditions, so they have different dietary needs," said Mom. "And because Christians have different backgrounds and levels of maturity, they have different spiritual needs.""You mean, what's right for one person may not be right for another?" Cole asked."Possibly," said Mom. "God may convict one believer about a certain activity because it would cause him--or those around him--to stumble in the Christian walk. Or someone may have a tender conscience about something because she had a bad experience related to it, or because of the way she was brought up. Then it would be wrong for her to take part in that activity, though it might not be harmful for someone else.""So, each person can decide what they can and can't do?" Avery asked."Well, many things are spelled out so clearly in the Bible that there's no room to argue about them. As to things not specifically mentioned, we need to depend on the Holy Spirit to show us the best choice for us. We also need to be understanding of Christians who have different convictions than we do. They're our brothers and sisters in Christ who are loved and accepted by God just like we are--even though none of us is perfect.""Okay." Avery grinned. "One thing I know the Bible is clear about is for kids to obey their parents. So for now, I'll just ask you what I can do." -Sherry L. KuytHow About You?Do you trust God to help you decide what things you should or should not do? Many issues are not specifically spelled out in the Bible, so don't be critical of the way others handle them. On the other hand, don't do something you have doubts about, even if other Christians are doing it. Be willing to accept your parents' guidance as you form your own convictions.Today's Key Verse:Everyone should be sure about their beliefs in their own mind. Learn how to follow a special diet for your health needs without going crazy.
Thanks to registered dietician Brittyn Coleman , MS, RDN/LD, CLT , this episode focuses on some of the many dietary considerations that may be made in determining what is the best diet so that some people on the spectrum can increase their quality of life. In this episode, we first talk about GI issues discovered in the earlier days of our daughter's autism journey. After thinking that these challenges were properly addressed, we discovered recently that this was not quite the case. We realized the need to add a dietician to our medical team in order to properly address issues concerning the gut, especially in light of an understanding of the gut-brain connection, was important to her development as she continued to age. Brittyn drops many nuggets of wisdom on how families can start learning how to optimally feed the body with neurodiversity in mind. Her website is available here and she is also available on Instagram at @autismdietitian. Earlier on in the episode, references are made to the Cleveland Clinic's explanation of the gut-brain connection, available on their website. Brittyn also referenced the following companies when discussing supplements: Seeking Health , Klaire Labs, Pure Encapsulations and Designs for Health. Getting your kid’s nutrition right is especially important if you have a special-needs child. Otherwise, you’ll just be making things harder on your child (and yourself). But according to Judy Converse, dietician and author of Special-Needs Kids Eat Right, the biggest hurdle parents face when it comes to nutrition-care is a lack of support and literature to help them along the way. So they try to do it on their own. But without knowing the right approach, they usually end up unintentionally making their child’s symptoms worse. Nutrition deals with a whole host of variables -- chemical balances, allergies, intolerances, food sensitivities, etc. And every child is different. But there is a way to get things right, and in this audio, you’ll hear how.
