The In-Person Workshop Formula™ Part 1

Expert Edge Podcast

Online events tend to convert weak. Connection feels distant. People disappear after the training. Then you run an in-person workshop. Same content. Same you. And something magic happens. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I break down the in-person workshop formula that separates six-figure coaches from seven-figure coaches. This is Part 1 of a deep dive into the most powerful tool for scaling your business in 2026. One of my Elite clients went from $15K-$20K a month to $90K a month. After Sell from Stage Live, she told me "I never would have created this without your program." That conversation wouldn't have meant the same in a Zoom call. Here's what most people don't realize: in an AI world where information is everywhere, real human connection is becoming increasingly rare and increasingly valuable. In-person workshops create that connection. They build community. They increase enrollment. They create stickiness so clients stay longer. What you'll learn: → The 5 big reasons in-person events work (and why online can't compete) → Results - Information becomes implementation when people are in the room → Ascension - The magnetic pull of being physically present with the leader → Proof - Real footage of you on stage becomes your best marketing asset in an AI world → Community - Peer bonds that can't be created online → Stickiness - How in-person events keep clients longer and more committed → The three types of workshops - Implementation events, signature live events, intimate intensives Real insights from the episode: Why I spent $50K at a free event (the power of in-person) The client transformation story: $15K to $90K through community and connection How in-person creates proof through real footage (critical in the AI age) Why online community can't replace physical proximity The three event types explained (and which one to run first) Why cutoff dates and early-bird bonuses drive registration The follow-up sequence that keeps momentum after the event Join us at Sell From Stage Live in-person event September 18th and 19th in Huntington Beach, California Register here: https://training.colinboyd.co/ssa-live-event Interested in Elite? We've been fed a narrative that you can't get faster after a certain age. We used to say 40. Definitely not after 50. Could you possibly get faster after 60? This week's guests say, “Why not?” When it comes to women at midlife and menopause, we're more active than ever. We also know more, have better coaching, and have more information at our disposal. This week, during a special educational session at the Vinfast Ironman World Championship, we had a panel discussion on all of it with five-time world champion Melanie McQuaid, physical therapist and strength and triathlon coach Dr. Chrissy Davis, and co-founder of FLY Health + Wellness and USAT certified coach Jen Temperley. Together the panel takes on body image, musculoskeletal health and injury prevention, how to adapt through the menopause transition, and training for the long game. Even if you never step foot in the three-sport arena, you'll get a ton of useful and inspirational information from this incredible conversation. Melanie McQuaid is a professional triathlete, mountain bike racer, and five-time world champion. She continues to compete at an elite level while focusing her energies on her coaching business, MelRad Coaching. You can check her out there and at melaniemcquaid.com.

Listen. There's really nothing Adam and Ed love more than karaoke–that should be obvious nearly two years into this podcast. But as much as they love regular karaoke, they recognize that there's something special about one of the varieties of it–that's live band karaoke, the closest they'll ever feel to being rockstars. And they want you to be rockstars, too, which is why they talk about some of the bands and places around the country you can hit to get that rock star experience: Punk Rock Karaoke in CA (and the high seas!); Rising Star in Orlando, FL; Karaoke from Hell in Portland, Oregon; Live Band Karaoke (that's the name of the band) in Chicago, IL; and Casual Encounters in Los Angeles, CA. Check out that proper semicolon use. One of the ways the fellas celebrated Adam's bachelor party was by attending a gig done by Pittsburgh's premiere live band karaoke acts, Lead Singer Wanted, which prompted the whole idea for this episode. They talk to Tom Medvitz, founder and guitarist for the band, on what the differences are between hosting a regular karaoke gig and doing a live band karaoke gig, the way that song lists are decided, and what the karaoke scenes in Portland, OR and Pittsburgh, PA are like. As always, you can find more info on the website (https://www.sungpoorly.com), and on social media--the show is @sungpoorly on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and now even Tiktok. What if Marie Curie could tell her story?  As a digital theater performance, HUMANITY NEEDS DREAMERS: A VISIT WITH MARIE CURIE (40 mins) invites audiences to take part in her discoveries as she recollects her quest to isolate two elements — polonium and radium. From her childhood in Poland to groundbreaking research in France, Marie Curie shares the struggles, failures and triumphs behind her scientific achievements and remarkable collaboration with companion scientist & husband Pierre Curie. Masterfully portrayed by living history scholar & playwright Storysmith® Susan Marie Frontczak, HUMANITY NEEDS DREAMERS is the cinematic version of her acclaimed one-woman show. This unique format breaks the digital fourth wall between live theater and film, scholar and performer, past and present. HUMANITY NEEDS DREAMERS is produced by STEM on Stage a digital humanities lab in collaboration with the Princeton Center for Complex Materials STEM outreach programs. Hosted by Ben Newsome from Fizzics Education About Susan Marie Frontczak Susan Marie Frontczak is a Colorado-based scholar, playwright & performer. Through storysmith.org she has created and performed Living History portrayals of six historical women across 42 of the United States and abroad. She presents at theatres, conferences, schools, libraries, and festivals internationally — including performing Manya: The Living History of Marie Curie and A Visit with Marie Curie over 450 times to 60,000 people in 34 states and nine countries. In dramatizing the life of Marie Skłodowska Curie, Susan Marie pays homage to their shared Polish heritage. Marie Curie's perseverance in purifying a tenth of a gram of radium from a ton of pitchblende, in part, inspired Susan Marie to major in Engineering. She earned a B.S. in Engineering from Swarthmore College and a Masters in Software Engineering from the Wang Institute of Graduate Studies, and worked for fourteen years at Hewlett-Packard Company before pursuing full time writing and performing. Susan Marie has always viewed both science and art as complimentary outlets for creativity. It is her aim to reveal the human behind the scientist, while placing Dr. Marie Curie's life and accomplishments in a memorable historical context. storysmith.org.  About Jen Myronuk Jen Myronuk is the cofounder of STEM on Stage, a STEAM initiative to promote narrative science through living history film and immersive media. The legendary Danny Kortchmar and Leland Sklar of The Immediate Family join Nick today for a chat on their new EP which just recently debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard chart.   These gentlemen have been frequent collaborators both on stage and in the studio with artists such as Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Don Henley, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, Graham Nash, Neil Young, and David Crosby amongst many others. As songwriters and musicians, they have contributed to many great albums and chart-topping singles; this is a great one, folks, as both these guys have seen it all in rock and roll.   Key Takeaways [1:30] Nick welcomes Danny and Leland and asks them how they've adjusted to the pandemic; they touch on releasing their most recent album songs as EP's as well as the positive aspects of having had a 5-decade long friendship. [6:40] Danny offers that Leland is one of the most in-demand musicians in the world and is constantly asked in for sessions. Leland shares what his most recent and fast-paced experience has been like “the year went away like a fart in a hurricane.” [9:28] Has Leland played in 2,600 albums? Really? He does mention that the number isn't really important… Danny and Leland talk about what it means to never live in the past and how it enables life-long creativity. [11:30] Danny opens up about what area of his work he hopes his legacy will be; spoiler, it's all of it! Leland talks about his upbringing and the place music had in it. [13:16] After having played some of their new album live, everything shut down. They share about what collaborations they did on some of the EP's as well as what the plans are for recording the rest of the material. [15:35] Leland breaks down, and shows what kinds of instruments he owns — and in what quantities — while amp-wise, he's got what he needs for the rest of his life, in his garage. Danny also talks about his collection and he shares his take on the use of pedals! [18:39] Style is something unique to each player in the band, Leland shares an anecdote from a Christmas show he did in L.A. [20:00] Ordering food at the right time might be THE single most important thing about making a record according to Danny and Leland. [24:44] Danny shares a Jack Nicholson anecdote and Leland talks about how the song “It's Raining Men” was born right in front of his eyes. The guys talk about the insane genius that ran around in the corridor at A&M Studios in the '80s. [31:00] Who are Danny and Leland listening to these days? [33:14] At noon Pacific on November 13th, a Stage Live will re-air. [33:28] Nick thanks both of his guests for coming on the show to share their stories.   Thanks for listening!
