Tonights speaker was Steve Ramsey. (Romans 8:31-39)
Check Playlist This episode of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with musician Steve Ramsey. Steve is best known as the founder and guitarist for the band Satan. He's also a member of the band Skyclad. During the show he discussed the early years of Satan, being part of the new wave of British heavy metal, and the new Satan album Songs in Crimson. Get your copy today!During the rest of the show we discussed Chuck Norris' stretchy pants, shared our thoughts on Siskel & Ebert, and mourned the recent death of James Earl Jones. Exorcist II is Ton's favorite film! https://youtu.be/vTQMkC7i_x0?si=V2U9J88UrIKj9XLl
Satan's history is storied, their albums and incendiary live shows, iconic. The Newcastle, England-bred lineup may quip that their career has been “44 years of prolonged mayhem with a 20-year lunch break”—forming in 1980, eventually pausing before reuniting in 2011—but circa 2024 finds the band thriving, writing, recording, and touring at the top of their game. Proof positive is their seventh studio album, and third for Metal Blade, 'Songs in Crimson', out on September 13th, 2024. Their first ever UK headline tour will take place in September, running from the follow dates and in the following cities: September 2024 4th: MANCHESTER - The Bred Shed 5th: NEWCASTLE - The Cluny 6th: GLASGOW - The Flying Duck 7th: BELFAST - Voodoo 8th: DUBLIN - Grand Social 11th: LONDON - Boston Music Room 12th: BRIGHTON - Daltons We spoke to guitarist Steve Ramsey about this tour, what fans can expect and the difficulty in putting together a setlist. We also spoke about the new album, how it came together so smoothly, what were some of the fun aspects of creating it, and much more. Steve Ramsey and Chad Reynolds are both OG YouTubers and together we talk about the generational differences between Gen-Z and Gen-X Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this conversation, Chad Reynolds and Steve Ramsey discuss the changing landscape of YouTube and why many YouTubers are quitting the platform. Additional topics include quitting drinking, cleaning and organizing Steve's shop, the rise of Patreon as a funding option for creators, the decline of brand sponsorships, creating art for yourself and slimming down your team. They reflect on the golden days of YouTube and how it has evolved over time. They also explore the role of YouTube as a discovery platform and the need for alternative platforms. The conversation delves into the nine-year life cycle of trends and the importance of trying something new. They emphasize the importance of creating content for oneself and building a business beyond YouTube. The conversation concludes with a discussion about the future of their podcast. The release of YouTube Rewind, a cringe-worthy video, marked a turning point for the platform Many YouTubers are moving beyond YouTube and building businesses that are not solely reliant on the platform YouTube still serves as a valuable discovery platform, but creators should be less emotionally attached to it Trying something new and different is important for long-term sustainability and growth MORE CHAD & STEVE: http://www.ChadandSteve.com

To us, the value the three of you bring to our shop is so disgustingly beyond the small price of being a VIP member. On a icky note, since there is much conversation about shop fires on AWP right now we felt it timely to come out of our hole and tell you we lost our home and our hobby wood shop to fire in September, ultimately it was ruled, by our insurance adjustor & the fire marshal to be a rechargeable battery, and it was plugged in to a surge protector that seems to have failed. I can't say the name of the battery but I will say that our adjuster let us know that he'd been to 10 fires in our state last year and 6/10 were a rechargeable battery in a garage. The shop fire was put out, the home seemed smoke damaged when we left at 3 AM. At 5 AM we were alerted to the news that the fire was still smoldering in the attic and took out the rest of our home. We lost everything, if it wasn't fire damage it was water damage. We've moved to a commercial spot and officially made ourselves a small Husband & wife business. We have some great young apprentices and are recovering the loss surprisingly well. We are incredibly busy, and we are incredibly grateful to still be around. If you won't mind sharing our, "lesson learned" from this wildly difficult time in our lives - for the love of our maker family- put your recharging batteries on a surge protecting power strip and turn the power strip off before you leave your shop at the end of each work day.Thank you again for the value & professionalism you've added to our lives. Max & I would like to challenge all AWP listeners, and our maker community to become VIP members and give back a bit of the good fortune AWP puts out into our worlds. Mr. Beast, Netflix, and using "value" to justify clickbait. Chad Reynolds and Steve Ramsey are back with another mildly-entertaining podcast talking about YouTube, but mostly a lot of other things that are not completely related to YouTube.
This week we talk with Steve Ramsey who has been teaching woodworking on his YouTube channel “Woodworking for Mere Mortals” for over 15 years. If you've ever entertained the idea of making something out of wood but kept putting it off I think you'll love this chat with Steve.Millions of people all over the world have watched his videos and used his advice (including me) to create their first projects. Steve is a firm believer that anyone can build unique, practical, beautiful pieces out of wood, and he's a big advocate of not needing fancy tools, a big garage or years of experience to do so. If you'd like to explore Steve's online tutorials here's a link to his Woodworking for Mere Mortals YouTube channel. He has also created a great beginner's course called The Weekend Worker Course.I hope you enjoy this chat with Steve…Big hugRich This is a public episode. Alexandrina Council is getting closer to choosing a preferred design option for the Goolwa Wharf Precinct Masterplan. A meeting is planned for March 7, in which of the remaining three of four options will be considered by Councillors for the major multi-million dollar redevelopment of the historic south coast wharf. Director of the Wharf Barrel Shed, Steve Ramsey, sees an extraordinary opportunity in the plan and says he hopes the concerns from a vocal minority does not influence the end result. Blake McFarland is an artist who specializes in mixed media sculptures using wood, steel, epoxy, foam, fiberglass, crayons, even ramen noodles. Since 2019 he's been filming these creations and showing the process on his YouTube channel, BM Sculptures. His highly detailed sculptures can take up to eight weeks to create for clients such as Hyundai, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors and many more. His multiple collaborations with Goodyear has led him to create multiple sports team mascot sculptures out of recycled tires, a medium he seems especially skilled with. Before becoming a full time artist, Blake was a professional baseball player, who spent 8 years pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays. In July of 2011, Jill Bearup posted an unassuming video of herself singing a beautiful acapella rendition of Want You Gone from Portal 2. She continued posting commentary and video essays about a wide range of pop culture, movie and tv topics including a popular series about stuff she likes called, Stuff You Like and a series on the history of fan fiction. But her life would change when she saw The Last Jedi in the cinema and decided she wanted to learn how to fight like people in movies. So she took courses in stage combat and 18 months later started making videos about it. Her YouTube channel went from 23,000 subscribers to a silver play button in two months. And now, just a year later, Jill's channel has over 350,000 subscribers, it's her full time job, and she makes videos about stage combat, movie fights and murder dresses. Jill Bearup is a testament to perseverance on YouTube. Keep cranking out quality content that you believe in and eventually, you can hit upon something that strikes a chord with a lot of people. Her content is fun, lively and informative…you can tell she loves what she does. And the best part? His name is Graenolf and he makes weird skits happen on YouTube. Before that he made gaming videos - building an audience of over 400,000 subscribers before turning his attention away from listicle videos and towards short comedy videos in 2018. As seemingly drastic as the change was, his new videos still focused mostly on video game culture and references, but steadily, over time, Graenolf introduced a broader range of subjects to his content. His audience approved and the channel has grown to over 800,000 subscribers with 170,000,000 video views and a wonderfully unpredictable stream of quirky videos and more serious content like Callback - a short film which was released just last month. Welcome to episode 7! It was a distinct honor this week to speak to Steve Ramsey to whom I owe a great deal. Lyden av en buss som kjørte forbi holdt på å bli med på "Court in the Act". Janick Gers burde ha spilt i Deep Purple. Keep it True holder ikke ord. This time we talk about ... stuff? andstuffpodcast@gmail.com @andstuffpodcast on twitter soyeahandstuff.podbean.com Walker decided to get a TWSBI Eco after reading a blog post by David Rea going into a bit of physics and materials science. Cameron is mildly interested in pens, but couldn't do a whole podcast about it like "those guys". This primer on nibs explains what a "stub nib" is. Despite hearing about them many times, this blog post by Brad Dowdy is probably what made Walker decide to actually look into getting a pen with one. Nathan of Noodler's ink has a youtube video up about the story behind the "Charlie" eyedropper pen that Walker talked about. Cameron wants to get more into uploading videos. Looks like he did since we recorded. Here's a link to Walker's old shredder unboxing video. Look at all the potential discussion topics on wikipedia to use during unboxing videos! Walker found DIY cat tree/condo inspiration here. The kind of "fake joinery" Walker is doing is mostly inspired by the Mere Mortals Workbench designed by Steve Ramsey, although lots of people use this technique. Here's an article for further reading on types of twine. Here's another one. Walker is mixing other people's old forgotten tracks that he found on a Zoom R16 multi-track recorder. Here's Bob Clagget's first Arduino Programming Tutorial video on the I Like To Make Stuff channel. And here is Making It, the podcast he does. More information about arduino can be found on the website. This is what Process Controls is. Controls engineers use something called SCADA. Walker will soon be working with slivers. Arch Linux and its wonderful online documentation can be found here. When using GNU/Linux on a computer Cameron usually uses Lubuntu, a spin of Ubuntu, and Walker usually uses Debian, but sometimes uses Fedora. The desktop environment is the part of many GNU/Linux systems that actually determines what things you see on the screen. Cameron uses LXDE, while Walker is all about XFCE. Here is the Bakelite video on Periodic Videos. Love this channel. Some tracker-based music programs for linux are qtractor and lmms. Walker can't remember which one he used to make the And Stuff Opening Theme Song. Amsynth is the softsynth Cameron has been experimenting with. Walker recommends using a kernel with the PREEMPT_RT patch for music production. He uses a kernel for Fedora that comes patched from Planet CCRMA at Stanford University. It seems that similar things are available for Ubuntu. The programs Walker rattles off that he uses in music production are Jack, Whysynth, Hexter, Alsamodularsynth. Thanks for listening!

The Aquarian Weekly's and Montclair State University's WMSC 90.3 radio host Japan Nick of Japan Nick's Rock and Metal Pandemonium conducted an interview with Satan/Skyclad Guitarist Steve Ramsey on March 17th 2014. Satan is a New Wave of British Heavy Metal band that was formed in 1979. I spoke with Steve Ramsey guitarist for Satan and Skyclad.Satan have three full length albums and one ep to their name which includes 1983’s Court in the Act, 1986’s Into the Future, 1987’s Suspended Sentence, and 2013’s Life Sentence. Some contemporaries of theirs include Mercyful Fate, and Venom. Over the years they have been known by a number of different names. From 1984-85 they were called Blind Fury and released Out of Reach in 1985. They subsequently changed the name back to Satan. By 1988 they had changed their name to The Kindred and eventually Pariah. During the Pariah Days of 1988-89 they released two albums The Kindred, and Blaze of Obscurity. In 1990 a folk metal band Skyclad was formed including Steve Ramsey and Graeme English of Satan and Pariah which still is around today. By 1997-98 Pariah reformed and released the album Unity. Satan reunited in 2004 for a brief reunion and by 2011 have had their Court in the Act lineup kept steady since then. During the interview, Guitarist Steve Ramsey discussed the days of Court in the Act along with memories of concerts at the Dynamo club in Eindhoven, Holland. The various name changes and related bands of Satan from Blind Fury, to Pariah, to the still ongoing Skyclad band were explained. The album Suspended Sentence’s song Suicidal Justice’s was looked into for meaning. Their new album was reviewed with a focus on the songs Incantations, and Personal Demons. Steve gave some intelligent advice for bands getting ready for pre production and post production time in the studio. The current lineup of Satan is Steve Ramsey and Russ Tippins on guitar, Brian Ross on vocals, Graeme English on bass, and Sean Taylor on drums
