The Willie Jackerson experiment

Welcome back, metal warriors, to another electrifying episode of The Willie Jackerson Experiment! Last year, we took a deep dive into the world of Celtic metal, and you all loved it so much that we're bringing it back—this time with a twist. We're pitting four legendary Celtic metal bands against each other, and YOU get to decide the winner!Segment 1: The Roots of Celtic MetalBefore we dive into the contenders, let's take a quick look at what makes Celtic metal such a powerful genre. Combining traditional folk instruments like bagpipes, tin whistles, and fiddles with the raw power of heavy metal, this subgenre delivers storytelling and epic melodies that feel like they've been passed down from warrior to warrior through the ages. Bands like Skyclad and Waylander laid the foundation, and now, it's time to showcase four of the greatest modern torchbearers of Celtic metal.Segment 2: The ContendersBand #1: Cruachan – Known for their fusion of blackened riffs and haunting Celtic harmonies, this band's signature sound is both ferocious and deeply rooted in folklore. One of their standout tracks, The Crow, takes us straight into the heart of an ancient battlefield.Band #2: Tuatha – These warriors take a more folk-heavy approach, with galloping rhythms and melodies that will have you raising your horn of mead in the air. Their song Guns and Pikes is a perfect example of their ability to transport listeners to misty highlands and fiery clashes.Band #3: Grymheart– Blending symphonic elements with Celtic themes, this band creates a soundscape fit for both battle and celebration. Their anthem Givis Fatuus is a must-hear for anyone who loves epic storytelling in metal.Segment 3: Listener Poll – Who's the King of Celtic Metal? Now it's time for you, the listeners, to make your voices heard! Head over to our [website/social media] and vote for which band you think deserves the crown of this year's Celtic Metal Clash. We'll tally up the results and announce the winner in our next episode.Outro:That's a wrap on this week's journey into the highlands and battlefields of Celtic metal. Keep those horns raised and your playlists heavy! Don't forget to subscribe, share this episode, and let us know what you think of this year's contenders. Until next time—stay metal, stay legendary!

The body of critical study - and fan adoration - around the music of Napalm Death has concerned itself principally with the band's pioneering grindcore and its transition into the death metal of Harmony Corruption. But what of the band's wilderness years, the mid- to late-1990s? The 108th episode of Radical Research digs into what its hosts consider to be Napalm Death's most radical music, the four-album futurist blitzkrieg spanning the years 1994-1998. Get ready for some serious side-eye, Legions, as we cross over into the torn apart.   Note I: In the episode, Hunter mentions Ian Christe's writing on the band's 1994 album, Fear, Emptiness, Despair. In Christe's Sound of the Beast, he writes that the album, "...started a fresh chapter in the history of a band whose membership half-life had once lasted no longer than an album side. Previous urban hardcore noise blasts were mowed by sophisticated guitar layering and innovative drum patterns. Their dissonance became a conscious component of the composition, not merely a side benefit of chaos, and the marriage of intense anger and calculation yielded a masterpiece of passionate, politically minded, negative realism." Note II: In an act of gall, the scalar dimensions of which could only be compared to the Pacific Ocean, Mont Blanc, and John Holmes' ballistic member, Christe includes Fear, Emptiness, Despair in his list of the 25 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time. The list includes other controversial entries, such as Morbid Angel's Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, and Dream Death's rarely-trumpeted but mighty Journey Into Mystery. Note III: In our excitement, we failed to mention the men who produced these albums. All were produced by the estimable Colin Richardson, except Fear, Emptiness, Despair, which was handled by Pete Coleman. Only one of these gentlemen have played flute on a Skyclad album. Note IV: Please consider donating if you listen to Radical Research often: https://www.paypal.me/rrpodcast We also have a webstore where you can find shirts, CDs, and books, many of them recently restocked: http://radicalresearch.org/shop/ Music cited in order of appearance: “The Infiltraitor” (Words from the Exit Wound, 1998) “Plague Rages” (Fear, Emptiness, Despair, 1994) “Primed Time” (Fear, Emptiness, Despair, 1994) “Fasting on Deception” (Fear, Emptiness, Despair, 1994) “Ripe for the Breaking” (Diatribes, 1996) “Take the Strain” (Diatribes, 1996) “Diatribes” (Diatribes, 1996) “Birth in Regress” (Inside the Torn Apart, 1997) “Prelude” (Inside the Torn Apart, 1997) “Lowpoint” (Inside the Torn Apart, 1997) “None the Wiser?” (Words from the Exit Wound, 1998) “Trio-Degradable / Affixed by Disconcern” (Words from the Exit Wound, 1998) “The Infiltraitor” (Words from the Exit Wound, 1998) Radical Research is a conversation about the inner- and outer-reaches of rock and metal music. This podcast is conceived and conducted by Jeff Wagner and Hunter Ginn. Though we consume music in a variety of ways, we give particular privilege to the immersive, full-album listening experience. Likewise, we believe that tangible music formats help provide the richest, most rewarding immersions and that music, artwork, and song titles cooperate to produce a singular effect on the listener. Great music is worth more than we ever pay for it.

"The nudity is entirely optional, as you well remember!" Welcome to another episode of Magnolia Street, where we embark on an exploration of the fascinating practice of skyclad ritual nudity in Wicca and modern Paganism. In this episode, we delve into the origins of this ritualistic tradition and its significance within these spiritual paths. We begin with a little AI fun and speculate on the Aunts' Solstice Celebration as the Stinas wonder what Sally & Gilly's experience would have been like "dancing naked under the full moon"! This very small line of movie dialogue sends the Stinas full speed ahead down another rabbit hole, where they examine the meaning of nakedness (and NEKKIDness) in both Wicca and the Bible, uncovering the contrasting perspectives and shedding light on the historical and cultural factors that have shaped our understanding of nudity. We then trace the history of nudity in Paganism, Wicca, and Witchcraft, unraveling its roots and evolution throughout time. Join us as we explore the role of nudity in witchcraft and magickal practice, delving into its symbolism, empowerment, and transformative potential. Additionally, we delve into the significance of skyclad working in modern Paganism and its benefits for practitioners. Lastly, we take a comparative approach, exploring the history and significance of ritual nudity in various belief systems, including Christianity, Jainism, Witchcraft, and Paganism, highlighting their unique perspectives and practices. Tune in to this thought-provoking episode as we navigate the rich tapestry of skyclad ritual nudity and its diverse cultural and spiritual contexts. Følgende utgivelser er ventet i 2021 og 2022: Aiwass – Children of the Cathedral World (Nero Corvino Records, vinteren 2022). Aiwass – The Suicide Sessions Pt. 1–Pt. 3. Tre album (Nero Corvino Records, 2022). Cold Orbit - "Caravans", "Mekanix", "The Ice Planet" og "Moonglider". De fire første uutgitte albumene fra 2000-2010(Earth and Sky Productions, 2022. Conjuration – "The House on Nuclear Hill" EP og "Necrocreation Demo" EP. Ute på dobbelt-CD og LP (Folter Records, vinter, 2021/2022). Nocturnal Breed – Face Your Aggressor (25 Years in the Bunker). Nocturnal Breed – Whiskey Tapes Brazil (Black Metal Store.com Records, vinteren 2021/2022). Nocturnal Breed – Whiskey Tapes Italia (Decibel Productions/Eternal Winter Records, vinteren 2021/2022). Nocturnal Breed – The Horror. Tidligere uutgitt demoalbum 2003-2004 (Decibel Productions/Eternal Winter Records, 2022). Svartalv – Alfirin: A Tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien. Nytt dobbeltalbum (Gollum's Treasure/Earth and Sky Prod., vinteren 2021/2022). Agressor – Black Church En tidlig undergrunnsklassiker for meg. Amebix – I.C.B.M. Her er det fingerferdigheter, ass! Assassin – Assassin Ekstremt rå thrash som bodde i walkmanen i lange perioder. God feel! Bathory – You Dont Move Me… Kommer ikke unna Quorte', ass. Faen, som han har inspirert gjennom tida. Og jo støggere, jo bedre. Her i nydelig demoutfoldelse i Motörhead-drivet. Fet epic metal feel! Hinsides hvasst! Alle burde lære av slike mesterverk. Også som debutskive… Holy dæng, ass. Det er sveitserost-gutta sine, det! Crimson Glory – In Dark Places Cheesy igjen… Men her svinger jentene, gitt! Gorgoroth – Begravelsesnatt Gamle kompiser, gammal musikk, gamle feelinger. Hades – Alone Walkyng Igjen her og. Perfekt vestlandsk BM fra gamle dager. Bra folk og røttene rota i sort jord. Perfekt demofeel fra gamle dager! Helloween – Victim of Fate En kassettklassiker til. Madam X – High in Highschool Veldig cheesy kassettklassiker i min heim. Total 80's labbe-til-skolen-i-sebra-tights-låt. Og folk får selv sjekke hvem som spiller her. Nuclear Assault – Betrayal Ekstremt fet demoversjon. Reinspikka thrash slik det skal være! Ozzy Osbourne – Diary of a Madman En av mine absolutte favoritter gjennom alle tider. «Går det an å lage noe sånt?»-greie. Plasmatics – The Damned Wendy O'på sitt råeste. Q5 – Steel the light Kunne vært trøndermetal detta her! Hyperspilt i walkmanen en periode. Skikkelig pannebånd-cheesy porn rock. R.A.V.A.G.E. – On The Slay Dette bandet ble til Atheist etter hvert, også ble de litt vel blomkåletende med tida. Jævlig bra drikkelåt for unge spirer. Savatage – Necrophilia Igjen en klassiker for meg. Kassettsliter deluxe. Trust – Antisocial Her er originalen, ja. Men Doro, ass. Hvass dame nr. 3 i rekka etter de to før nevnte. Venom -In memory off Venom, ja, kommer ikke unna dem heller. Støgt, men frisluppent. Don’t look now (everything has changed), tema que abre el disco If Life Was Easy, quinto album solista del bajista de Deep Purple, Roger Glover. Change My Ways, el cuarto tema del disco One Eye To Morocco de Ian Gillan. You Will Never Change, del disco Drive de Anneke van Giersbergen, editado en 2013 y que consolida la carrera solista de quien fuera durante trece años la vocalista y principal letrista de la banda holandesa The Gathering. Change Is Coming, del disco Forward into the Past de la banda inglesa Skyclad.

The Aquarian Weekly's and Montclair State University's WMSC 90.3 radio host Japan Nick of Japan Nick's Rock and Metal Pandemonium conducted an interview with Satan/Skyclad Guitarist Steve Ramsey on March 17th 2014. Satan is a New Wave of British Heavy Metal band that was formed in 1979. I spoke with Steve Ramsey guitarist for Satan and Skyclad.Satan have three full length albums and one ep to their name which includes 1983’s Court in the Act, 1986’s Into the Future, 1987’s Suspended Sentence, and 2013’s Life Sentence. Some contemporaries of theirs include Mercyful Fate, and Venom. Over the years they have been known by a number of different names. From 1984-85 they were called Blind Fury and released Out of Reach in 1985. They subsequently changed the name back to Satan. By 1988 they had changed their name to The Kindred and eventually Pariah. During the Pariah Days of 1988-89 they released two albums The Kindred, and Blaze of Obscurity. In 1990 a folk metal band Skyclad was formed including Steve Ramsey and Graeme English of Satan and Pariah which still is around today. By 1997-98 Pariah reformed and released the album Unity. Satan reunited in 2004 for a brief reunion and by 2011 have had their Court in the Act lineup kept steady since then. During the interview, Guitarist Steve Ramsey discussed the days of Court in the Act along with memories of concerts at the Dynamo club in Eindhoven, Holland. The various name changes and related bands of Satan from Blind Fury, to Pariah, to the still ongoing Skyclad band were explained. The album Suspended Sentence’s song Suicidal Justice’s was looked into for meaning. Their new album was reviewed with a focus on the songs Incantations, and Personal Demons. Steve gave some intelligent advice for bands getting ready for pre production and post production time in the studio. The current lineup of Satan is Steve Ramsey and Russ Tippins on guitar, Brian Ross on vocals, Graeme English on bass, and Sean Taylor on drums
