Revelation 12 chapter is focused on the devil, the dragon, Satan, and his contempt for Jesus and for all those who follow Him. It reveals his hatred for the people of the nation that produced the Messiah. The Spirit uses the imagery of a woman clothed in astrological images because woman represent the glory of mankind, the very soul that is connected to that which is spiritual. Symbolized in Eve, the woman chose to be clothed in spirituality, as such the woman continues to be the window to the spiritual realm of the knowledge of good and evil. The woman clothed herself with the sun, which is a reference to Jacob whose name was changed to Israel (which means God Prevails) when he let God prevail over his stubborn heart. The Moon under the woman's feet is a reference to Rachel, Jacob's wife, and Aramean, and captures all the gods of religious apostasy, such as Baal and Astarte. The moon has no natural light and no natural warmth because only reflects the light of the sun. Teachers at Watervliet's South Elementary live “Joyful Learning” every day and try to encourage their students to join them in this experience. One of the ways they've been able to do that was proven in a recent video that went viral for it's fun and engaging messaging of a domino effect. The message they wanted to spread to their students is a simple yet powerful message that everything you do has an effect on other people, and that's why it's so important to be kind. If you're kind to someone, they'll be kind to the next person, and so-on. Symbolized as carefully placed cereal boxes lined up as a domino track, this was an opportunity to not only prove a point but to also food-raise for our local foodbank. All together, South Elementary in Watervliet was able to bring in over 1,094 boxes of cereal which beat last years total of 711 boxes. The best part is there are students that are at the school who are directly impacted by these efforts! Teachers being amazing and creative, plus the generosity of the families who participated in the donations, that's another way to make good news! Every great city has it’s defining era.  Not always good, but certainly one that shapes its fortunes and reinforces its place in the urban pantheon.  For New York it was perhaps the 50s, for Paris the mid 1920s, for San Francisco the ‘60s and for Hollywood, certainly the 1930s.For Detroit, the eighteen months from the fall of 1962, through the spring 1964 marked perhaps the apogee and the beginning of the downward arc of that once great city.A city that came to personify the American experience in the second half of the 20th century.  Detroit at the time was the epicenter of music, racial strife, labor and of a middle class that now seems a bygone dream.Capturing that moment is Pulitzer Prize winning author and journalist, and Washington Post Associate Editor David Maraniss.
