Every two years, Mars, the planet of action, passion and drive, goes retrograde and we face particular challenges when it comes to the themes Mars rules. Emotional foundations and realignments are coming up for review as Mars retrogrades in Cancer from January 6 until February 23, 2025, traveling back to 17 degrees in your chart. Mars, the Warrior, is now tasked with getting to the heart of what needs to be emotionally processed, purged, and trusted within in order to clear out very old unconscious imprints. Mars was previously retrograde in Cancer in 1992-1993 and 2007-2008, triggering Inner Child memories and what has been residing in your emotional core from family, parents, siblings, home environments, and your first attachment style needs. Mars will be activating what you are ready to mature and how you are ready to grow, especially by cutting out (Mars) what is holding you back (Cancer) from trusting yourself more. Mars retrograde in Cancer receives support from Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn during this phase of the journey, yet has a touchy trigger spot with Chiron in Aries at 19 deg the beginning of February. 2025 begins with powerhouse astrology! The second Mars RX – Pluto opposition at 1 deg on January 3rd is highly oppositional, emphasizing where Leo energies are not in alignment with the collective frequencies on the planet. Mars (masculine) will be facing an evolutionary crisis, especially into May 2025. The North Node moves across 0 degrees Aries until January 12, highlighting themes that Saturn and Neptune will be working with into February 2026. Then the Nodes enter Pisces and Virgo on January 12 for a new 18-month cycle of soul growth and completions.
