The myth that eating disorders only affect women means there are still too many men who aren't getting help. While it's great to see more women accepting and celebrating their bodies for the way they were born to be, body image issues and eating disorders are mental health issues that do not discriminate. The difference is that they often look different in men, who are more likely to over exercise, abuse muscle building substances and engage in unsustainable diets. In pursuit of a big, tall, muscular and lean ideal, destructive behaviours can easily lead to both physical problems and psycho-social distress. Our guest, Alex Rodriguez, went through his own battle with eating and exercise, became an accredited dietitian, and now supports other men in recovery. “Our worth as men, or as human beings, is not determined by what we look like, nor how we eat, nor how good we are at “insert name' exercise,” he says. "Much of my work includes normalising and destigmatising mental health experiences. I just want the world to be a safer, less judgemental, more accepting place." Listen to Alex on body ideals in relation to men, their experience of eating disorders, and how a sympathetic health professional can support a more genuine and sustainable health. A group of OpenAI's current and former workers is calling on the ChatGPT-maker and other artificial intelligence (AI) companies to protect employees who flag safety risks about AI technology. An open letter published in June asks tech companies to establish stronger whistleblower protections, so researchers have the “right to warn” about AI dangers without fear of retaliation. The development of more powerful AI systems is “moving fast and there are a lot of strong incentives to barrel ahead without adequate caution,” said former OpenAI engineer Daniel Ziegler, one of the organizers behind the open letter. Ziegler said in an interview he didn't fear speaking out internally during his time at OpenAI between 2018 and 2021, in which he helped develop some of the techniques that would later make ChatGPT so successful. But he now worries that the race to rapidly commercialize the technology is putting pressure on OpenAI and its competitors to disregard the risks. Another co-organizer, Daniel Kokotajlo, said he quit OpenAI earlier this year “because I lost hope that they would act responsibly,” particularly as it attempts to build better-than-human AI systems known as artificial general intelligence. “They and others have bought into the ‘move fast and break things' approach and that is the opposite of what is needed for technology this powerful and this poorly understood,” Kokotajlo said in a written statement. OpenAI said in response to the letter that it already has measures for employees to express concerns, including an anonymous integrity hotline. “We're proud of our track record providing the most capable and safest AI systems and believe in our scientific approach to addressing risk,” said the company's statement. “We agree that rigorous debate is crucial given the significance of this technology, and we'll continue to engage with governments, civil society, and other communities around the world.” The letter has 13 signatories, most of whom are former employees of OpenAI and two who work or worked for Google's DeepMind. Four are listed as anonymous current employees of OpenAI. The letter asks that companies stop making workers enter into “non-disparagement” agreements that can punish them by taking away a key financial perk—their equity investments—if they criticize the company after they leave. This is the Catch Up on 3 Things for the Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain. It's the 15th of May and here are today's headlines.Invalidating his arrest in a terror case, the Supreme Court today ordered the release of Newsclick founder-editor Prabir Purkayastha. The reason the court gave: the Delhi Police failed to inform Purkayastha the grounds of his arrest before taking him into custody. The ruling is significant because it emphasises that proper procedure and due process are the guardrails against arbitrary action, even in stringent terror cases. Purkayastha was arrested on 3rd of October 2023 by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police, who alleged that Newsclick received money for pro-China propaganda. One of the 14 people who were trapped after a lift collapsed at a copper mine in Rajasthan's Neem Ka Thana district passed away today, hours after all of them were rescued. Besides workers, members of a Vigilance team from Kolkata and senior officials of the Khetri Copper Corporation were also trapped following the collapse on Tuesday night. The incident took place in Hindustan Copper Limited's Kolihan mine, located in the Khetri area. Ambulances have been rushed to the spot and doctors have been asked to be prepared for any emergency. While reacting to the warning issued by the United States a day after India and Iran signed a 10-year contract to operate the strategic Iranian port of Chabahar, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today, asserted that the agreement will benefit the entire region. He said, “We have a long association with the Chabahar port but we could never sign a long-term agreement. The reason being there were various problems on the Iranian end, it's a JV (joint venture), partners changed, conditions changed. Finally, we were able to sort this out and get the long-term agreement done. A long-term agreement is necessary, because without it, you cannot really improve the port operations, which we believe will benefit the entire region.” Unquote.Coming down heavily on the Uttarakhand government, the Supreme Court today said it was “at pains to say that the state's approach in controlling forest fires has been lackadaisical,”. It added that though action plans were prepared and finalised, no steps have been taken for their implementation. Hearing a plea raising the issue of forest fires in Uttarakhand, the top court also directed the Chief Secretary to be present before it on 17th of May. Flagging a huge vacancy in the state's forest department, the Supreme Court said the issue needs to be addressed. As Israel-Hamas war continues to rage on, the Israeli Defence Forces claimed to eliminate Hussain Ibrahim Mekky, a senior field commander in Hezbollah, by an IAF aircraft strike overnight. The IDF made the announcement in an 'operational update' on its official X handle and claimed that Mekky was responsible for "various acts of terrorism" against Israel. Mekky previously served as the commander of Hezbollah's forces in the coastal region, said the IDF post. This was the Catch-Up on the 3 Things by The Indian Express.
So what if my dog has a wiggle butt and flags a bit on point? It's kinda cute and still gets meat to the frying pan. If that's the case and your dog will efficiently hunt, locate plenty of birds for you and stand point, I would happily agree with you. More often than not, however, it will affect your hunt in some aspect as it's a symptom of underlying holes in your bird dog training. It could develop into, amongst other things, a restrictive search, blinked retrieves, self hunting, ripping birds, stealing points and retrieves—which not only limits productivity in the field, it guarantees relentless ribbing from your hunting buddies. In my last Project Upland article, we discussed some of the nuances of reading your bird dog's body language and figuring out what they are trying to tell you. I referenced flagging as a specific undesirable action in a pointing dog. Let's delve into that a little bit deeper to gain some understanding.

THE shipping industry has a problem that it doesn't like to talk about. A dark secret. Safety standards, by and large, have been steadily improving over recent decades. Ship casualties and incidents reached an all-time low, in spite of a global pandemic and a steady tightening of regulatory standards have raised the bar across the board. But there is a significant and growing fleet of ships to which none of this applies. An unprecedented deluge of sanctions has divided the industry between those operating within the established rules-based order of safety conventions, class, insurance and international oversight, versus a worryingly large section of the fleet that has disappeared off the radar. The serious and significant safety threat that the dark fleet poses has been well documented, not least by Lloyd's List. But the ships themselves are only part of the problem. There is a whole infrastructure that is supporting this return to opacity at the bottom of the industry. This is not simply another sanctions story. Fraudulently flagged ships are hopping effortlessly between registries unable or unwilling to tackle their lawless flouting of the established rules-based order. These are vessels that in some cases make the Dark Fleet look like law abiding citizens by comparison - often with no flag, no insurance and an impenetrable nexus of state-sponsored opacity readily supporting their illicit movements behind the scenes. These ships do not operate in isolation – they only exist and are able to trade because they are able to operate with a combination of direct support and tacit complicity from companies, institutions and governments willing to turn a blind eye. The support networks are complex and opaque, but at the top of it all there are governments failing to provide meaningful oversight of ships flying their flag. And that's where the podcast this focussed its attention. The Safety standards at the top of the industry have largely improved, but the worst bits of shipping are getting worse, and that is a serious problem for everyone. Talking on the podcast this week: • RightShip chief executive chief executive, Steen Brodsgaard Lund • International Chamber of Shipping secretary general, Guy Platten

A Karnataka government doctor who conducted the post-mortem, said the body did not show signs of rigor mortis – stiffening of the limbs of the corpse caused by chemical changes in the muscles. This indicated that the alleged murder took place at least 36 hours earlier. While Republic Day preparations are on full swing at the Kartavya Path in New Delhi, several Opposition-ruled states and the Central government have been engaged in a war of words over their tableaus being rejected.
