#88: Bryce is back with more live coverage from the 2023 Mobilize Recovery Conference where he had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Stancil Tootle. Stancil is a person in long-term recovery who is blind and from a rural area in Georgia. He is a presenter at the Conference and speaks on the barriers to recovery for people who look like him, from both a racial and disability standpoint. Check out the episode to hear a discussion on access to treatment for folks with disabilities, bringing awareness within the recovery community, and more, including: How the recovery community presents some of the same ableist mindsets as the general public, and how we can do better. How organizations like The Phoenix can be more inclusive and ensure that folks with disabilities are not a second thought. How there is stigma in the recovery community, but also a lot of stigma towards recovery within the disability community.A perception shift: one of beauties of recovery is that you live long enough that you might end up needing some care . . . and you want to make sure the care is there when you do.To connect with Stancil, check out the Facebook group Tuesdays with Tootle and check out his weekly Zoom meetingsTo learn more about Mobilize Recovery, check out https://mobilizerecovery.org/--------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health or substance use related crisis, the following resources can provide immediate help.*If you are experiencing a medical/mental health emergency, dial 911.Dial 988 for the SAMSHA Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. About the Mansion St. Joseph is known for an extensive collection of beautiful mansions built in the late 1800s, and the Wyeth Tootle Mansion at the corner of 11th and Charles Streets is a prime example. Built in 1879 by William and Eliza Wyeth, this 43 room mansion was designed to emulate the castles along the Rhine River in Germany. The Wyeth family only lived in the home for approximately 8 years before the home was sold to Kate Tootle. The Tootle family remained in the home until 1947 when it was purchased by William Goetz (owner of Goetz Brewery) to be used as the St. Joseph Museums. With three floors, a tower and more than 40 rooms, it stands today as one of the best examples of St. Joseph's late 19th century wealth and opulence, featuring stunning woodwork, hand-painted ceilings and imported stained glass. The first floor of the Wyeth Tootle Mansion has been partially restored to its Victorian grandeur. Old photographs of each room help visitors visualize the interior as it was around 1900. Each room's ceiling is impressively different, from the cherubs that float above the Louis XVI parlor to the dark rich colors that cover the Moorish room. Ornate parquet floors and walnut woodwork change from room to room. The upper stories contain museum exhibits. Exhibits Edifice: The Architecture of E. J. Eckel. The architect of the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion and the founder of the firm responsible for 75 percent of the buildings in St. Joseph. The exhibit focuses on his life and the lasting impact of his accomplishments. Intersections: Of Time and Buildings. This exhibit is housed in three renovated rooms on the second floor. The exhibit explores the intersections of history, art, architecture, and humanities as well as the past, present, and future of the City. Museum professionals, preservationists, scholars, and local artists all worked together on this innovative project. Intersections is a combination art exhibit, exploration of St. Joseph's history, and imagining of the role of historic preservation in the City's future. The exhibit was created by the St. Joseph Museum in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Friends of St. Joseph. Confluence: The Great Flood of 1993. An exhibit that chronicles flooding in the St. Joseph area, including the flood in 1952 that covered much of Lake Contrary Amusement Park. The details on the causes and impacts of the 1993 Flood will be included as a cathartic remembrance of those trying months in the summer of 1993 when much of the Midwest was under water. The name of the exhibit “Confluence” refers to the merging of rivers and flood waters, as well as the coming together of communities in the face of one of the costliest natural disasters in history. History of the St. Joseph Museum. Step back in time through the extensive history of the St. Joseph Museum. Founded in 1927 as the Children's Museum, the St. Joseph Museum has called five locations its home over the near century it has been in existence. The items displayed in this exhibit are some of the earliest donations which were on display when the museum first opened in the annex of the St. Joseph Public Library. Come learn how our organization has grown and evolved over the years and what the future may hold. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/loren-alberts/message

#Ep.063 Thanks to its youthful workforce and cost-effective labor, Nepal's appeal as an emerging tech destination is evident. The country harbors aspirations of becoming a global IT hub but faces a formidable obstacle course. Various policy roadblocks and a dearth of state support have held back the tech industry from ascending beyond its infancy, preventing it from evolving into a research-based powerhouse capable of pioneering new technological frontiers. In today's episode, we have PEI's Hridesh Sapkota in conversation with Sixit Bhatta on Empowering Nepal's Tech Revolution. Sixit Bhatta, the founder behind the ride-sharing platform "Tootle," established in 2017, shares his personal odyssey, recounting the challenges he confronted while navigating Nepal's nascent tech landscape. Bhatta paints a compelling vision for Nepal's tech future. He passionately advocates for a transformation from a service export-oriented industry to a research-driven one, poised to fuel groundbreaking technological innovations over the long term. Now more than ever with the rise of technologies like AI, he emphasizes that Nepal must embrace a long-term vision of becoming a research-based tech innovation hub. He underscores that Nepal has laid the foundation for tech innovation but needs to take the next step by focusing on integrated platforms in sectors like unified payment gateways, fostering robust funding avenues for startups, and addressing policy bottlenecks. Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.06.23.546291v1?rss=1 Authors: Mellentine, S. Q., Ramsey, A. S., Li, J., Brown, H. N., Tootle, T. Abstract: A key regulator of collective cell migration is prostaglandin (PG) signaling. However, it remains largely unclear whether PGs act within the migratory cells or their microenvironment to promote migration. Here we use Drosophila border cell migration as a model to uncover the cell-specific roles of two PGs in collective migration. Prior work shows PG signaling is required for on-time migration and cluster cohesion. We find that the PGE2 synthase cPGES is required in the substrate, while the PGF2 synthase Akr1B is required in the border cells for on-time migration. Akr1B acts in both the border cells and their substrate to regulate cluster cohesion. One means by which Akr1B regulates border cell migration is by promoting integrin-based adhesions. Additionally, Akr1B limits myosin activity, and thereby cellular stiffness, in the border cells, whereas cPGES limits myosin activity in both the border cells and their substrate. Together these data reveal that two PGs, PGE2 and PGF2, produced in different locations, play key roles in promoting border cell migration. These PGs likely have similar migratory versus microenvironment roles in other collective cell migrations. Copy rights belong to original authors. Hi everyone. Thank you for being here for this new episode of Nepal Now, the podcast where we highlight different ideas and actions to move the country forward. I'm Marty Logan. A quick reminder that you can back the work that goes into creating this show, by clicking on the white ‘support' button at the middle left of our homepage and making a contribution. If you have any questions or suggestions about this, or about the show in general — feedback on what you hear, an idea for an episode, or anything at all — you can write to me at martylogancomms@gmail.com.If you're at least in your 20s you've probably heard of Tootle. It was the first ride-sharing app to operate in Nepal, starting in 2016. Today there is a multitude of competitors, from Pathao to InDriver, Bolt and more. In this episode, Tootle's founder, Sixit Bhatta, tells us that he's happy to see how the marketplace has developed since his project to track a bus on its route evolved into one of the country's earliest forays into the so-called sharing economy. And he adds that he's moving onto new things. Hint: They're about as far away from Kathmandu's traffic jams as he can get, both literally and figuratively. But you have to wonder how things might have turned out if the government hadn't delivered a ‘knockout blow' to his new, local business via a tax bill that today's ride-sharing ventures, backed by international resources, do not have to face. Sixit is surprisingly philosophical about this, preferring to focus on the ground that Tootle broke. That includes getting customers used to taking a lift from a motorcycle-riding stranger and — for the drivers — losing the ‘shame' of accepting money for their work.I think you'll be surprised at his answer when I ask Sixit for one piece of advice he would give to entrepreneurs just starting out... Sidey's nautically themed show begins with a look at the Top 5 Boats and there's so many to choose from we don't even mention Terry Nutkins on steroids lookalike Hulk Hogan's 'sub' standard tv show THUNDER IN PARADISE (see what I did there because submarines are also boats). Ang Lee's 2012 adaptation of Yann Martel's LIFE OF PI is FIGHT CLUB with a tiger though it's definitely a movie about something else too; a parable about spirituality and religion, an exploration of man's survival instinct or perhaps a meditation about the nature of storytelling. To go along with those lofty themes it's also astonishingly beautiful, joyously cinematic, with a stirring soundtrack and features a marvellous debut performance from Suraj Sharma, who carries the bulk of the movie alongside a menagerie of CGI animal performers. Many shows birthed into life by Ragdoll Productions including TELETUBBIES, IN THE NIGHT GARDEN and TWIRLYWOOS have graced this podcast though none of those have a higher horror quotient than long-running children's tv series ROSIE AND JIM which is either about the souls of a couple who were somehow accidentally eternally bound - presumably voodoo ritual CHILD'S PLAY style - to a puppet prison or the story of a man's slow descent into madness as he becomes convinced he is being stalked by two sentient ragdolls who live on his barge. In this episode experienced seaman Tootle meets with a local artist whose attempts to document the exact events occurring aboard the haunted houseboat end with his disappearance and yet another body dredged from a canal. We love to hear from our listeners! Tootle is a verb that means to travel in a leisurely way. It can also be used as a noun that refers to a leisurely journey. The origin of our word of the day isn't clear, but we know it entered the English language around the early 19th century. Here's an example of Tootle as a verb and a noun: We'd love to tootle up and down the west coast next summer, but our schedule won't allow it. We may have to settle for a quick tootle through downtown San Diego.

Male Counselor Tavi Tootle talks about his family, his faith journey, working at camp, and the best and worst foods of summer.
In the episode I have Notts County defender Matt Tootle. He's Notts County's mental health ambassador and he's honest in saying that he's had a few mental health battles himself. We discuss: How intrusive obsessive compulsive disorder has affected his life. How he went to head a ball and saw 5 of them coming towards him. What happened when he found out the baby he brought up wasn't his. How he became addicted to roulette and how he overcame it. I just want to say thank you to Matt for coming on and talking and being completely open and honest, I'm not afraid to say that it's been on my mind every day since. Matt is truly a strong character who's overcome many situations in his life and I take my hat off to him.
