It was a busy studio this morning as Tom was joined by Ruby Hughes, Stella Hughes, Penelope Neighbor, Katie Frank, Victoria Wise and Alessia Hancock from the RCL rugby club along with their coach April Jiang, who came to talk about the RCL Ladies Day that is happening on the 5th of March. In order to encourage more girls and women to play sport, the Rugby Club de Luxembourg is running a Rugby/Touch experience on Sunday 5th March from 10am-1pm. Girls and women from 8yrs upwards are invited to come to the Boy Konen terrain to try out the sport of Rugby contact and Touch. Most women think of Rugby as a male dominated sport. In fact the non contact form called Touch Rugby is ideally suited to women and in countries such as Australia and New Zealand is one of the main female sports. Here Luxembourg RCL has 28 girls & women playing, and Walferdange Ladies provides an opportunity for women's contact Rugby. This taster will consist of some activities that illustrate the skills and fun of rugby. This will be followed by some short games of Touch to get a feel for how the game is played. As Touch is a very limited contact sport, they will be playing mixed age games, so Mums, daughters, friends can all play together. No specialist equipment is needed, just a pair of trainers/running shoes and a desire for fun. Players can find more information and sign up at www.rcl.lu or by emailing info@rcl.lu

They were here specifically to talk about Touch Rugby in Luxembourg which has been a popular sport in the country for over 18 years. Touch Rugby is a 6 a side non-contact version of Rugby where the Tackle is a light Touch. As speed of thought and teamwork is more important than power, it is possible for men, women, boys and girls of different ages and physical capability to play together in social to elite competitive environments. At the RCL club night the age range frequently is from 14 - 60yrs. Luxembourg competes at international Touch Rugby tournaments and including the European Championships where their teams have played against the like of England or Scotland. Touch Rugby is open to anybody that would like to try it out. For any females that would like to try it out there is a women's only night on the 1st Thursday of the month. Otherwise new players can attend Tuesday club night which is a mixed training environment. For more information head to www.rcl.lu

The traditional methods consisted of a cocktail of remedies that had both short term and long term side effects that are proven to be detrimental to these athletes and their careers.
