Jeff Mans is giving thanks this season to all that have supported him, Fantasy Guru dot com, the Elite Sports radio show, and this podcast this year. Mans has a very special holiday message this week including a tribute to his late Uncle Ed and the joy he created during the holidays. The week 11 recap is full of lessons learned in both DFS and NFL betting while he reviews the 10 players who have gotten injured in his DFS lineups this season. Jeff discusses the art of forming your bets first and then shopping them for the highest rate of return in the market something many beginning sports bettors fail to do. He also reviews the crazy turnover at the QB position ahead of week 12 while discussing which running backs and wide receivers are the biggest winners and losers from these changes. If you listen before the early game on Thanksgiving, Mans gives out his scorching hot single-game parlay for the Bills/Lions game too. Then there are his survivor choices of the week, the best bet, and the biggest upset of the weekend to close out the episode.

about the guest: A wild gal turned sober-curious, Fay Behbehani is a London native living in Los Angeles, and a beverage entrepreneur in both the alcoholic and the non-alcoholic space. As former head of marketing for a California-based brain tech company, she discovered her passion for natural stimulants, plant medicine and their therapeutic properties for mental and physical optimization. This was catalyzed during her time as the co-founder of Uncle Ed's Damn Good Vodka where she became sober-curious in 2018 on a meditation retreat in Northern California and realized that drinking culture needed a radical shift. Harnessing her breadth of experience, whilst indulging in her passion for all things beverage, wellness and plant medicine, she founded bonbuz, setting out to revive the spirits industry and what it means to drink together in the modern age. about the brand: from the first sip to the morning after - bonbuz brings you a deep sense of resonating nostalgia - that stress-free heart flutter you had before adult-xiety took over. where to get it: bonbuz.com what I slurped: I tried both the OG and the Slowburn! more info: bonbuz is a truly unique slurping experience with both bottles. They mix really well, and promote an exploratory fun personality in their branding and taste. Be on the lookout for what is coming down the pipeline from them!

In today's episode I'll share a principle to help with those times when you feel tired, worn out and depleted. It's a principle call crop rotation, that farmers use to help ensure the nutrients in the soil don't become depleted, otherwise the crops will suffer. The more you learn to apply this principle, the less dependent you'll be on the synthetic fertilizers that are out there, and the more you'll find energy organically. Inter Miami created an option for season ticket holders to acquire tickets for the first 3 games of the season in a limit capacity stadium. The process made some fans upset who felt that they were owed the tickets they paid for. Others easily got their tickets using credits, but some got nothing. Did Piet and Uncle Ed get their tickets? We take you through the process for each of us and talk about our sucess or failure. How many fans have been upset by the process and may not come back? Understanding Betrayal - Rape, Childhood Sexual Violence, and Incest 2020 BLACK PODCASTI
Welcome to our first podcast!!!It has taken me 50 years to find the courage to talk, to share with the world my truth, I entered this world as the Sacrificial Child. I am the unwanted and constant living reminder of an unholy alliance no one wants to remember, but here I be.My father was a pedophile, with a long proven track record, raping his 11 and 14 year sisters, and as a special gift to himself raping a 13 year before heading off to war. Then there was my mother, his 14 year sister -in-law, who we won't classify as a rape but more as a business transition - she wanted a new plaid coat and he wanted to screw a 14 year. I am the result of that unholy alliance. When I turned 14 my mother and grandmother decided I should live with my father, who I only knew as Uncle Ed, and his wife my Aunt Dell, my mother's eldest sister, in a large tract house in the suburbs of Southern California.Within the three months of moving in my father raped me and continued at least once a week for 3.5 years, 150+ times, he violated my body. I, along with Effie, my 11 inch crochet elephant, declared war on my father and his wife. I couldn't stop the rapes but I refused to allow that bastard to rape my mind. Despite everything I held on to one goal, escape by going to college. Everyone in my family knew he was raping me but they chose to remain silent. Why, he had what I didn't, power and status. I was a young voiceless and powerless black girl in the 1960s when black folks didn't have the right to vote. But each day, as I watched CBS Nightly News I saw people, who looked like, my age, my color who were protesting, fire hosed, and dog's attacking them as they depended their Civil Rights. They were my heroes, if they could return to fight I sure and hell could. When news came that father impregnated me, there was no outrage, no pull out the guns to shot him, no oh poor Teri. It was assumed that I would do the right thing, exhibit some common form of decency by handing over my new born son to my pedophile father to raise. When I refused to the family was passed and never forgave meThis podcast series is to provide for folks who look like me, from similar backgrounds for our faces and voices to be seen and heard. This is for the millions of us whose lives were defined by 6 words - rape, childhood sexual violence, incest, and silence and the two most powerful shame and betrayal. This is for us to declare we are not weak powerless victims but were victimized, that we are more than survivors hoping and waiting for someone to toss us a life lineThis podcast series is for us to own and proclaim who we are - STRONG, POWERFUL and VICTORIOUS This is for us to talk, share our voices, and solutions by tearing down the walls of silence, shame, and betrayal Hope you enjoy the podcasts Theresa Willard Hughes
I talk a bit about my thoughts on the afterlife, after loosing my Uncle earlier in the week. Dedicated to Uncle Ed, where ever he is. Love ya man!
An authentic brand is incredibly important, especially in the digital age where we’re all trying to share our stories. In order to do that you have to be memorable and you have to stand for something. Uncle Ed's Damn Good Vodka was built with purpose and passion. https://uncleedsdamngood.com/ On this episode of Digital Hospitality, brothers Ed and Walt tell the story of their purpose-driven vodka company live from the Wonderfront Festival in San Diego, where they were a major sponsor. Wonderfront Festival co-founder (and previous guest of Digital Hospitality) Ernie Hahn makes a special appearance. Uncle Ed is the face of Uncle Ed’s Damn Good Vodka. There’s a reason for that. His ideals are the brand’s ideals. He and his vodka are on the same path. He wouldn’t be involved with the company if he didn’t think he could make a difference. Ed, an environmental scientist, and his family, including their pet pig Tuk Tuk, live on an organic island farm in Hawaii where they manage a self-sustaining existence surrounded by a beautiful lush jungle landscape. They traded in city life for a simpler life off the grid. "I needed to try something different," Ed said. Ed also knows how to make some Damn Good Vodka. For a decade, Ed and Walt have owned and operated the distillery in their home state of Idaho. They wanted to make sure the vodka company was in line with Ed’s values, including living sustainably. For example, the bottle for Uncle Ed’s Damn Good Vodka has no plastic, uses recycled paper label, flint glass, and has zero water waste. It's also gluten-free and made with non-GMO ingredients. They took what Ed stands for and bottled it. It’s a vodka with a purpose — to simplify, sustain, and give back. The company also aligns with charity, including Waves for Water, which provides clean water to those who need it. https://www.wavesforwater.org/ The Foundational Philosophies of Uncle Ed's Damn Good Vodka are: * Be real, authentic, and transparent * Remain community-driven * Be mission-based * Focus on waste minimization across the supply chain * Live by intentional production * Work on ways to create more sustainable packaging * Aid clean water missions around the world * Create ultra-smooth tasting vodka At the Wonderfront Festival, Uncle Ed's Damn Good Vodka did more than lend their name as a sponsor. They had an entire village area set up at the Embarcadero Park North, which reflected the sensibilities of the brand with vodka tastings, music, games, and more. https://wonderfrontfestival.com/embarcadero-north/ https://youtu.be/L7mOeKL_Sjw When Digital Hospitality host Shawn Walchef learned the story of Ed and Walt and how they teamed up to create a brand they cared about, he was touched. "For me as a small business owner, I was touched to know that two brothers who are a yin and a yang to each other somehow pulled off this brand," Shawn Walchef said. Uncle Ed's Damn Good Vodka is about family, Walt said. "The most successful brands, not just in alcohol, are small, family based, true authentic stories." "When Ed left our distillery in Boise to move to the big island to fulfill his dream, it was really kind of defining moment of 'what do we do, where is our business going to go?' Walt said. "I just saw Ed live his passion." Ed said the company is still striving to make steps toward being even more environmentally responsible, reducing their carbon footprint, and making more purpose-driven business decisions. "We just got done finding a biodegradable plastic shrink-wrap that goes around the pallets when we ship them off," Ed said. "It's not a perfect solution, but it's constantly moving forward. It's a bunch of small steps." "You don't just flip a switch and all of a sudden, 'OK I've done everything I can do. I saved the world.' It's a journey and it continues." It's about the mission of the brand, which when it's a core fundamental of the business, will always be there.

This 2006 interview is among my very favorites. It's with Edwin John Wintle, author of "Breakfast with Tiffany: An Uncle's Memoir." The name Tiffany in the title refers to the author's troubled niece, who ended up coming to live with her Uncle Ed while she was in high school. The book is a honest and illuminating chronicle of their relationship and how that relationship - which had always been close and affectionate - was challenged when she came to live with him.

About 20 minutes before the my dad's calling and funeral service were scheduled to begin, we were milling around, chatting with various family members, organizing papers for the service. Throughout the week, my brother and I searched for photos and significant mementoes to display or add to a slide show. Scrapbook Recollections During that search, my brother unearthed a scrapbook I created decades ago. He brought it to the funeral home, since it spotlighted a lot of Dad's family members and memories. I'd forgotten all about it, but apparently I'd interviewed Dad as I showed him items like an old clock or a painting. I also pulled out his old photo album filled with images of his family members. Most of them were old, old photos dating back to the early 1900s. Maybe I made this for a college class or for a birthday gift, but whatever the reason, I recorded him talking as he described the item, the original owner, and told stories about the people in the album. Then I transcribed everything and put it together in this scrapbook. I handed it to my nephew. “Did your dad show you this?” He took the scrapbook and shook his head no. “Well,” I said, “these are stories I had Grandpa tell me about people and stuff. You'll recognize the clock and some of the artwork. You might enjoy it. It's your family, after all.” Uncle Ed Before long, my kids and their cousins were all leaning over the album, reading the stories and looking at each item. I was standing nearby when I heard them all laugh about one of their grandpa's recollections. “What's funny?” I asked. “It's this ‘Uncle Ed.'” My nephew pointed to an old photo. “Grandpa went on and on about other family members—this lady was a nurse in the Army and this guy was a captain and was really important. Then all he had to say about Uncle Ed was...” My nephew leaned down and I could see the slim strip of paper I'd printed out and mounted below the photo of a man. “‘Uncle Ed didn't do much with his life.'” He looked up. “That's it. That's all he has to say about Uncle Ed.” Everyone laughed yet again. “Poor Uncle Ed!” I said. “Surely he did something with his life?” Reducing a Life to One Line My brother had joined the conversation by now. “You know,” he said, “when you get one generation past the death of someone, your whole life does seem to get reduced to just a few stories.” My brother would deliver the eulogy that day. He said it was hard to know what to highlight about Dad out of all his stories and all his interests. My brother continued, “When you get a couple of generations removed, like Uncle Ed is to us, sometimes all that's left is one single line.” Oh boy. If I'm remembered for just one line, I hope it isn't, “Ann didn't do much with her life.” Writers Leave Behind More Than a Line I'll remind you of one advantage we have as writers: we can leave behind more than one line. We can leave behind books and stories and essays and poems and journals. Simply by writing—by building a body of work, especially nonfiction but fiction, too—we control the narrative we leave behind to some extent. At the very least, we offer a collection of source documents, if someone ever wants to dig in and learn more. One-Line Legacy - A Summary of Your Life But at our funerals one day, someone will have to summarize our lives as my brother had to summarize Dad's. In episode 149, I urged you to write your own obituary or eulogy, reflecting on a life you'd like to live. That obituary is a summary of a life, not a biography, but it can be long and fairly detailed. This time, we're going to summarize even tighter: What one line would you like to be remembered for? If we get to the end of our life, and a generation or two removed, and some great-great-grandnephew points to your picture in an album, what one story would that be? Assuming you could control what's remembered, what would you want the cousins leaning in to read?

On this edition of the Mad About Futbol Show, the guys were joined by Uncle Ed of the Miami Ultras as well as from the Miami Chapter of the American Outlaws to talk about the prospect of Miami in MLS. We also scheduled Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald but he refused to come on the show to talk about his article on South Beach and David Beckham. Ed spoke about the latest goings on in this never-ending saga to bring an MLS team back to South Florida as well as a chance to help convince Juan and George about the prospects a little more. We were also joined by SB Nation columnist Xoel Cárdenas to talk about the biggest news of the day- the hiring of Gerardo Martino as coach of FC Barcelona. Xoel expressed his initial skepticism about the hiring of the former Paraguayan national team and Newell's Old Boys coach as well as what "Tata" will offer his new team. Xoel also points out that this squad will have some major issues to deal with, especially on defense this coming season. Surely lots of interesting topics that are dealt with by Xoel in this episode. That plus George's preview of next year's Miss Bum Bum contest all on the Mad About Futbol Show. You can follow Uncle Ed (@UncleEd69) and Xoel Cárdenas (@XoelCardenas) on Twitter.
