It's been a while! And, that's for a reason. After stepping back from the podcast for a few months, I promised myself I would come back when I truly felt the call. After my recent astrology training on Saturn, I knew it was time to talk again. I talk a little bit about the intense whirlwind that the earlier half of 2021 has been at the beginning of this episode, just to remind you that we all face things that can feel insurmountable. Then, we dive into all things Saturn (one of the most important aspects of your astrological chart). We cover:What Saturn represents and rulesHow your greatest struggles early in life are meant to become your greatest giftsDeciphering what Saturn means in your chartThe meaning behind the sign and the house your Saturn is in What is a Saturn return and how it can impact your lifeTo schedule a Saturn return or full astrology reading, email paige@paigepichler.com or send me a DM on Instagram @brightsideofthemoon.pod. The world is changing because women and society's relationship with the feminine are changing. We're finally stepping into who we are—the sensitivity, intuitive nature and softness of the feminine is now coming back into balance. If you've ever been called "too sensitive", soft or girly, this is your time. In this episode, I share my story understanding my sensitivity and even talk about the moment I knew something was different about the way I walked through the world when I was 8 years old. With practical tips and anecdotes to help you feel less alone, this episode is for anyone who's ever struggled to understand why they feel anxious, different or like an outsider—and how to thrive instead. The books I mentioned are Light is the New Black and Rise Sister Rise—both invaluable in helping feel your best and step into who you really are. I've discussed so many coping mechanisms for anxiety on Bright Side of the Moon before, but I've never addressed this issue head-on. This episode is long overdue and I'm proud that I'm at a place where I can share these things today. As a child, I had crippling anxiety, and this issue hasn't exactly gone away entirely. People didn't know how to handle it in the 1990s and many still don't today. An issue I've struggled with my whole life, I've started to see the anxiety in a different light. If you struggle with anxiety, I hope this story reminds you that you aren't alone, there is a way to feel better and there is nothing wrong with you if you worry more than you think you should. I also talk about the change in attitudes towards mental health issues—including the cultural impact of Britney Spears' struggle. Just because you have anxiety doesn't mean you're unworthy, stupid or a bad person. Sometimes, it's just a part of you that needs your attention, your soothing and your unconditional love. You are not alone if you worry about things big or small. I hope this helps you feel less alone and know that no matter what, the sun will rise again. The reiki practitioner I mention who has helped me tremendously with this issue is Kristine Joy. You can book a session with her on her website. Did you know that your energetic field expands up to ten feet during your period? You're more sensitive during this time for a reason—you're much more closely connected to the greater picture. We have a lowered capacity to numb out and pretend like we don't have feelings because it is our most feminine time of the month. There are so many gifts that our period gives us. We've been conditioned to think that our cycles are a drag, that we should push through them and pretend they don't exist. In reality, they are a direct link to the rhythm of the Earth and the mothering energy all around us. It's all inside of you. Your period is a portal. In this episode, we talk about the sanctity of your moon cycle and why it's 100 percent okay to rest. More importantly, your body needs rest so that you can spend some time with your highest, most intuitive self during this time. Learn all about accepting your emotions and being more gentle with yourself always, but particularly during your cycle. Plus, you'll hear all about why tampons may not be the best option when it comes to care. There is power in each of our stories, and this is the first time I've told the entirety of mine. During my hiatus from Bright Side of the Moon, I realized that I had alluded to a lot of what happened in my life, but never fully explained why I see the world the way that I do. A lot of that reluctance had to do with fear of judgment and simply not being ready. Plus, I found that many people hear "eating disorder" and only focus on that aspect of things. In reality, my story encompasses so much more than just that chapter and symptom. So, here it is!I knew that this story would serve a purpose one day, and I'm incredibly grateful to feel strong enough to finally share. I hope that it serves you and helps you remember the bigger plan in your own life. Trigger Warning: This episode discusses disordered eating and sexual assault. Following my podcast hiatus, I make a pretty big announcement on this final episode of Bright Side of the Moon. After losing my grandma this year, things shifted quickly and the experience has helped me create more authentically—in a feminine way. Like many episodes of this show, it's deeply inspired by a book; this time, it's Things are Going Great in My Absence. Around the time that this book appeared in my life, my grandmother passed away. Learning two lessons at once, this period of time showed me what I was missing—room to breathe and unconditional love of myself. Plus, I found out what "unconditional love" really means. In this episode, you'll hear about:Creating in a feminine, fluid way that feels good rather than looks goodHealing and creativity burnoutMy grandma's gift of unconditional love and finally undoing my conditional relationship with myselfReleasing the old paradigm of "do" first and feel laterBeing addicted to fixing parts of yourself, striving and constantly pushing (even if it looks healthy)Using your mind as a tool rather than letting it call all the shotsYour heart versus your headKnowing that you don't need to be fixed, healed or changed to feel good—you're worthy of it nowI put my heart and soul into this one—I hope you feel it. Check out my new podcast, Nervous System Simple, which will launch in January of 2021, covering all things feeling good from the inside out. For more on the nervous system, check out the Heal Your Nervous System course. We start next week! Thank you for coming on this ride with me. xx,Paige

Over the last ten years, setting boundaries has become all the rage. We talk about:The link between boundaries and self-worth Energetic boundaries and why they're importantMy story of feeling walked all over for most of my life and how that eventually changed when I lovingly decided enough was enoughKnowing that setting boundaries doesn't make you a jerk, but you can be a jerk while setting boundariesFeeling safe, healing the root chakra and revisiting times in our life when it wasn't safe for us to set boundariesUnderstanding how to care for yourself as an empath or a lightworker and knowing that your energy is sensitiveDaily practices to do to clear your energy - all day long you are constantly absorbing the energy of others, it's up to us to know how to clear it, especially right now!I'd love to hear how you like these practices and if they're making a difference in your life. I keep talking about why everything we're experiencing right now is the result of the awakening feminine. But, this episode dives into so much more, like creating from a place of enoughness, undoing programming that says life has to be hard and healing anything in our life that's built on shame. This episode covers: - Mars Retrograde in Aries: It's the first time this has happened since 1941 which was one of the worst years of WWII. We dive into what this means for the collective and ourselves on an individual level. Even if you listen to the episode after this transit, it's still a big deal. - Large societal structures are falling because the feminine is reemerging and needs more space than it's been given for the last 2000 years. - The discomfort many of us are facing is coming from allowing fluid, attractive, resting energy to awaken within us.- To unearth structures built on shame we have to let them fall. - I tell a very personal story of relearning my passion for singing and the arts. But, I was told I was too big and that the arts weren't worthwhile. This story comes full circle when I got my drum recently - my feminine is guiding me forward.- Undoing the overly-masculine idea that anything worth having doesn't come easily.- Why the nervous system is critical to creating the life you desire - we hold all of our traumas here and when we don't address them, they call the shots. In order to tap into the feminine, we have to heal our nervous system that runs on shame and guilt. - A simple practice to open your heart and tap into your feminine. If you want a drum for yourself, check out Sean's Instagram page here. Join the next round of the Heal Your Nervous System Course which starts on September 30th to help make this process easier and reconnect with your feminine! Full disclosure - I recorded this months ago before 2020 came into full effect. I listened to it this week and remembered that the principles I outlined in this episode are still true - there is enough for everyone - even if the news tells you otherwise. In this episode, I talk through common blocks around money and its relationship with your self-worth. And, while I've certainly learned more lessons about it this year, I still subscribe to the idea that more money doesn't solve money problems. It's like building a house on a broken foundation - just because you have more doesn't mean that there's no issue with receiving. Use this time of uncertainty to heal any blocks around feeling supported by the universe. Learn how to receive without guilt. Start to fully implement the idea that giving and receiving are equals. Praise your bills instead of cursing them - say thank you for the services they provided. Staying in a constant state of gratitude for all that you have makes you magnetic to the natural flow. This episode may bring up feelings of discomfort or unworthiness - that's okay. It's simply pointing you to where you can heal. If you're looking to go further into this healing, the next round of the Heal Your Nervous System Course begins September 30th! We create powerful self-care tools that reset your stress response, clear out your limiting beliefs and give you access to kundalini, breathwork, meditation practices and more. A few weeks ago, I started reading a book called The Bowl of Light. When I first picked it up, I had no idea how deeply this ancient Polynesian philosophy would resonate with me. In this episode, I share about the parts of my journey when my bowl of light was filled with stones and I could barely get through my days. Whenever I describe that time, I always talk about the choice I felt I had to make. I knew that I could choose to continue living in the darkness and likely perish, or I could trust the small speck of light that was streaming through. That stream of light saved my life. This light shines within each of us - we just cover it with stones like old traumas, stories and resentments. I had no idea there was an entire spiritual philosophy based around this light I saw! When I wasn't taking care of myself, my nervous system was filled to the brim with trauma and limiting beliefs. Thus, my bowl of light was filled and I couldn't be my true self, slowly losing power under the weight of expectations and my ego. In this episode, I dive into vibrations, why the nervous system is so important and how you can reconnect with your true self. Making sure that we have physical and spiritual practices that support our growth is how we ensure our bowls of light are free from stones. I also talk about an incredibly healing practice from the book, Get Rich, Lucky Bitch. Forgiveness can be ugly and difficult, but it's one of the fastest ways to clear our your bowl of light to align with your purpose. Take your power back. Dump out the stones. Heal your system. Forgive yourself. This is the episode to help you do just that. If you're looking to go further into this healing, the next round of the Heal Your Nervous System Course begins September 30th! We create powerful self-care tools that reset your stress response, clear out your limiting beliefs and give you access to kundalini, breathwork, meditation practices and more. The Earth is begging us to heal our hearts so that we can heal her. After taking a cacao facilitator training a few weeks ago, I learned just how potent this medicine is in healing ourselves.I started this year off by leading a cacao ceremony in January. I had never attended or led one before, but I knew I had to share this medicine. I kept repeating, "No matter what happens this year, keep your heart open." I didn't know why then, but it's obvious to me today that this is the year where we heal our hearts on a collective and personal level. Drinking cacao has healed me on so many levels, and I know that this medicine is so important to share. I talk about the elements of cacao and how they can help us deeply heal - for ourselves and for the planet. This episode dives deep into what cacao is, how to implement a cacao routine into your life or just try it out. More of us need Mother Earth's guidance right now, and cacao gives us direct access to her healing. If you want to learn more about sacred cacao, you've come to the right place. I stumbled upon the book Tara: The Liberating Power of the Female Buddha in April and, since that time, my life and spiritual practice has expanded before my eyes. After absorbing the teachings and wisdom of the female Buddha, Green Tara, I couldn't help but reach out to the author of such an amazing work. Rachael Wooten, Ph.D., is a Zürich-trained Jungian analyst and psychologist who has been in private practice as a therapist for more than forty years. This was her first book - ever! And what a book it is. In this episode, Rachael and I talk about the basic Buddhist principle in which we can all come together at points of intersection across different spiritual and religious practices. Rachael guides us through what Tara and her practices can do in our journey to healing the collective by healing ourselves. She also discusses another pandemic of Western civilization - our penchant for feeling bad about ourselves. If you've listened to this podcast, you know that I talk about taking care of ourselves first and healing the world from that place. Rachael explains how we need both traditional means of healing trauma such as therapy and good friends, as well as spiritual practices to truly transcend and become who we are meant to be. It is my honor to speak with Rachael about her experience with the Tara practice, her thoughts around the collective mother wound and the divine feminine. From tantra to Hinduism to Judaism to Shamanism to Tibetan Buddhism, we cover the origins of these practices that have shaped our world and continue to affect the way we interact with each other and the divine. Rachael’s love for her children and all creatures on Earth is one motivation for making Tara practice widely available. Her hope is that readers use these methods to nurture themselves in meaningful ways, awakening a loving relationship to all life and empowering wise and heartful responses to current global challenges so that all beings have a future in which they may thrive.Connect with Rachael on her website and find the book, Tara: The Liberating Power of the Female Buddha here. When you sit down to do a self-care practice like meditation, yoga or kundalini, you're helping more than just yourself. In a universe where every single thing is connected, your energy speaks so much louder than your words. If you've ever wondered how you can help make the world a better place, how you can uplift and change the world, the answer lies within your energy. When you align yourself with peace, joy, compassion and love, then you can truly create the change you wish to see because these are higher frequency emotions, and thus more powerful vibrations. Just by existing at that frequency, you uplift the planet. This superpower gets wildly underestimated, and it's a superpower that we all possess.Instead of engaging in change from a human level of bickering, blame and arguing, your ability to center yourself with source brings about more power than any talking point ever could. Not to say that you can't stand up for what you believe in, I'm saying that when your energy is taken care of and harnessed with peace, then the changes that you make will help the planet from the inside out. Your meditation mat is where you can change the world. Trust that instead of the noise. Eradicating hatred with hatred will never make a better world. I've felt this deeply for years. In 2020, however, that theory has become even more clear to me. In this episode, I talk about the unique paths that we're all on. People are supposed to have different opinions and viewpoints - we're all here to learn different things this lifetime. Good ideas and change come from listening, staying open and honoring the different experiences of others from different backgrounds, races and political parties. You can call it overly optimistic or too high in the sky, but deep down, we know it to be true. I talk about having real, quality conversations and how to listen rather than start formulating your response. In this act, you can focus on what you are for rather than what you're against. All of us want peace, respect and unity, we just have different ideas of how to get there. It's 2020. We need powerful self-care practices now more than ever, not only to help us cope but also to make the world a better place. It's my deepest held belief that once we take care of our own energy and respect ourselves, then and only then, can we give the same to the world. I'm so excited to share this episode with the marvelous Ava Johanna where we talk about her spiritual practices with meditation and breathwork as well as building a soul-centered business. Her goal is to make tools like meditation and breathwork sexy again, and practices that we truly want to do every day! We cover her dark night of the soul, her struggles with her business and her journey to connect with her highest self. Ava Johanna is a spiritual business coach, host of The Alchemized Life Podcast, and celebrity meditation teacher based out of Southern California. Whether on the podcast or in her 1:1 VIP program, Ava works with individuals to activate their soul's purpose, create powerful daily routines, and elevate every area of their life simply by adjusting their mindset through fully embodying the energy of empowerment and confidence. She has been featured on major wellness publications such as MindBodyGreen, Wanderlust's 35 Under 35, Life&Style Magazine, and Yoga Journal. In the book "Power vs. Force", David R. Hawkins contends that one single person who vibrates at a frequency of gratitude can negate the lower vibrating energies of 75,000 people. That number only grows as your vibration rises. We are all handling the trauma of this year differently. People have different opinions, different stories and that's okay. But, when we understand energy and just how powerful our energy is, we can shift our thoughts towards peace for all. Compassion will make the changes we seek - every, single time. I was put on this Earth to call for peace. I believe that by focusing on division, we only create more division. Everyone has a right to their emotions and expression - including people you disagree with. I tell my story about my time on Capitol Hill when I saw Steve Scalise rejoin Congress after nearly being shot to death during a congressional baseball game. Almost every member of the House was there with very few dry eyes in the room. But, when I watched the news that night, there was no mention of one of the most stark displays of unity we had seen since 9/11. You may feel different than the views I express, and that's okay. I appreciate you and your role on this planet. We are all one, no matter what. When we start having compassion for everyone and everything, even when it's difficult, that's when real change will take place. I started this podcast to help normalize having darker moments and honor the full spectrum of our emotions. A healer said to me once, "Paige, you can't live in the light all the time" and it was one of the most freeing moments of my life. I'm so lucky that I got to have Susy on the podcast and hear her story journeying from battling alcoholism and self-worth issues to healing herself, following her dreams and creating a successful business as a sound healer. We're both sober and we talk about life without alcohol, being our true selves and her amazing story living out her divine purpose. Susy Markoe Schieffelin of The Copper Vessel is a Los Angeles-based sound healer, reiki master, yoga and meditation teacher, and life/sobriety coach. She graduated with a degree in East Asian Studies and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and is certified in Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki Master, Kundalini and Vinyasa Yoga Instructor (RYT 550 / IKYTA), and received training in Transcendental Meditation, Vipassana Meditation, Breathwork, and the Art of Sound Healing. Inspired by her own healing journey, she uses these modalities to help others transform their lives and find healing from within. Susy is vocal about her path to sobriety and her journey with alopecia, she is a speaker and thought leader, encouraging people to build healthy, happy, radiant lives through self-love. Susy leads deeply restorative crystal alchemy sound bath ceremonies, healing rituals, group trainings, international retreats, and workshops. She also offers a variety of virtual experiences including a series of virtual sound baths for self-healing on ALO Moves. When we think of generosity, many people think of just giving everything that we can. And, while there's merit to giving, when we give out of obligation rather than from divine inspiration, it's a recipe for resentment. So, how do we give in a way that feels good? Right now, we're being asked to give more than ever. With many people's consciousness revolving around the idea of scarcity and fear, it can be uncomfortable to balance the idea of generosity and feeling like we need to be vigilant with our supply. In reality, we are part of infinite consciousness, infinite love and therefore, infinite prosperity. The old paradigm would have us believe that we have to give as a duty and because it's the right thing to do. Often tinged with shame, this idea kept us tied to the ego, its need to feel important and to please everyone. Generosity is changing, we're changing; things are getting better and more balanced. If you've ever felt fearful around giving, shameful around abundance or given too much of yourself, this is for you. Follow along on Instagram @brightsideofthemoonpod and @paigepichler. Since anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues of the 21st century, more and more people have tried to wrap their minds around how to move through it with grace. Caroline and I talk about what it means to reconnect with the body and remove shame - two of the most powerful ways to heal anxiety. We talk about what pleasure means and inviting movement in to heal our addiction to external validation. Kindness, softness and vulnerability often denote weakness in our culture, and Caroline and I discuss the fallacy of this notion. We cover everything from her story with anxiety to finding peace and purpose within ourselves. Caroline Aylward is the creator of Get A Helmet, a company focused on heart-centered storytelling through video, audio and the body. She creates brand documentaries for feminist identifying small business owners, artists and makers and also offers 1:1 mentorship sessions for women ready to unapologetically reconnect to their power and release shame. Get A Helmet is also a podcast -- focused on spirituality, creativity and wellness -- available on iTunes, Spotify and anywhere you download your podcasts. Caroline recently directed a film on women’s body image and self-worth with an all-female crew and cast called "In This Body". Follow along on Instagram @brightsideofthemoonpod and @paigepichler. One of the things that has become abundantly clear to me as I've started to heal myself is that we are all connected. Every single thing is made up of energy and what we do with our energy impacts the world, whether we like it or not. In college, I shopped constantly. Trying desperately to fill a void and make myself feel better, I bought new clothes weekly. I didn't realize that I was purchasing the energy of more suffering, adding to my own experience in the darkness. I watched the documentary Minimalism last year and about halfway through, I broke down in sobs. This is the story of how I discovered conscious clothing and what it means to understand the way that we're all connected. The fast fashion industry is an affront to all of us, perpetuating the suffering of our fellow humans and the planet. Filled with chemicals, pesticides and toxins, cheap clothing not only hurts the people who make it, but hurts us when we purchase it with our energy. The new way of the world is compassion. I believe that when we heal ourselves, we can heal the world around us. When we start to change the way we buy things, we can change the system responsible for human suffering, pollution and waste. Collectively, we have an addiction to constantly doing and filling as many of our days as possible. A way to escape what's lying underneath the facade, our addiction to doing prevents us from making contact with the soul. Without this conscious contact, it's easy to get wrapped up in the ego's demands - how much money we need to be happy, how to get all the external things that we're convinced we need and how we want others to perceive us, instead of living out our purpose. We're waking up and stepping off the hamster wheel. Albeit scary, it's more empowering than you can possibly imagine. In this episode, I tell my story around addiction to stress and striving to prove my worth for nearly two decades. It's a story that almost killed me, and I'm happy to be able to share the experience from the other side. I'm here with you through all of this. Know that it's okay to feel uncomfortable and bored, restless even. It's here to help you get comfortable enough with the silence to know your true self - your soul. In slowing down your mind, you can connect with the light within. Yoga and coming back to your body can help you reach this silence by creating space between your thoughts. Instead of thinking that you need to push harder to get the answers, you probably need to surrender and reconnect with silence. It's here that you'll find your loudest truths. 2020 has been intense. And, it's not random. We are shifting our entire paradigm, something the planet has waited 2,000 years for. As uncomfortable as this is right now, it's ultimately for our highest good. In this episode, I share the call that I've been feeling for years. I finally understand where it's been calling me - to help with this transition. The reawakening of the feminine, the fluid, open and heart-centered energy is changing things. Where we're going is more filled with love and peace than we could ever imagine and, in order to get there, we have to let some of the old systems crumble. To me, it's a time to come back together, stop shaming and pointing fingers and hold the deepest compassion we can possibly express. Yes, there is fear, but there is also potential for so many amazing things to happen. I talk about my experience on Capitol Hill, seeing one of the sole instances of unity the country has shown in years and how powerful it was in my life. This is one of those times where we can do the same. The flow is powerful, will you go with it? Follow along on Instagram @brightsideofthemoonpod and @paigepichler. The Goop Netflix series put a lot of puzzle pieces together for me about my healing experience that many can relate to. Small and larger traumas that we all have come up for us to heal, and we can do so by accessing the subconscious mind. Behind these traumas and experiences lie our greatest truths and can lead us toward clarity in greater ways than we've ever experienced. This is the work we came here to do and the patterns we came to heal. To do so, we need to tap into the conscious mind. In this episode, we cover: - Why we need to access the subconscious mind to create the life we want- Accessing trauma loops to heal in deeper ways- How this work impacts your entire life - Healing limiting beliefs by showing up when you're ready- Our life's work isn't a title or how much money we make, it's in what we came here to heal to create from our soulFollow along on Instagram @brightsideofthemoonpod and @paigepichler. For a long time, I wondered how so many women act like everything is fine and normal during their periods. Between the energy lost shedding an organ and the subsequent hormonal changes that come with it, your cycle needs to be honored as the deeply restorative time that it is.In modern life, we see it as a detriment for our body to tell us that we need time to rest once a month. Instead of honoring the moon cycle as the height of our feminine power, we see it as a pain and a detriment to "getting things done". I get it, I'm not saying I skip down the street when I have my period. But, I know that it's an extremely receptive and fluid time in which we can more easily tap into high-vibrational energy. This week, we dive into what this means and ways to tap into the incredible power of your body and energy during your moon cycle. Another part of honoring your cycle involves using products that aren't laden with harsh chemicals that impact your hormones. MYBOXSHOP is an amazing brand with 100 percent organic, biodegradable products. You can shop their pads, tampons and liners on Amazon or on their website. Keep yourself safe and your moon cycle free from pesticides, bleach and chlorine. Follow along on Instagram @brightsideofthemoonpod and @paigepichler. This is the episode I started this show to record. Truly, it is why I'm on this planet - to help other people heal from trauma and see their experiences as opportunities to align with their greater purpose. Even if you think you've never gone through anything "that bad", I promise that there's something for you to learn from this episode as you show yourself the love you need to validate your experiences. In this episode, I talk about:Why discussing trauma is importantTrauma isn't always what we thinkShowing compassion to each other and ourselves as we shift into a new paradigm Healing ourselves so we can heal othersWhy the saying "Time heals all wounds" is bullshit My experience with trauma and athletics, how I'm just healing it nowHealing old patterns by going back to when they happenedSetting boundaries respectfully Inner child work and how simple but powerful it can beWe cover so much ground in this episode and I hope it brings you the healing you need. My goal is for this show to feel like you're talking to a friend on your couch. The life you want is just beyond your limiting beliefs. We all know this, but sometimes it can be difficult to spot when these beliefs come through. Singing along to Super Bowl Halftime Show this year with Shakira and JLo, I had no idea how much this performance showed how far I've come in healing my relationship with my body. It signaled such a large change within me and in my relationship with feminine expression. Rather than being offended and hating on the performance, as I did with Beyonce's six years earlier, I felt so happy and empowered just watching. Dancing has healed me and my relationship with my body in so many ways; this show was an indication of just how far I've come. This episode covers: Where I was mentally when I struggled with disordered eating, how it made me project my experience onto others living their truthHow dancing has healed me and helped me appreciate my body in ways I never knew were possibleThe Super Bowl Halftime performance by Shakira and JLo and what it meant for me to sing along appreciating the divine feminineOur relationship with sexual shame, why it keeps our creativity hampered, our true expression silenced and our hips inflexibleThe Halftime Show as a representation of our society's aversion to feminine, fluid expression through the hips Understanding projection and what it means to feel triggered by another person's true acceptance of themselvesIf you need meditation guidance, check out my profile on Insight Timer and follow along.
