Jo and Rane dive head first (figuratively speaking) into the world of inversions with Freya Bennett-Overstall, a respected chiropractor, yoga and meditation teacher, author, and a familiar voice on our podcast. Freya brings her unique perspective to the topic of inversions, delving into the "yin and yang" aspects of these transformative postures. In this conversation, we explore the benefits and considerations surrounding inversions, following Freya's recent introduction to our style of aerial yoga. Conversely, Freya has also shared her experience with the FeetUp trainer, a tool that offers a safe and accessible approach to inversion practices. Freya's expertise spans a wide range of disciplines, including chiropractic care, movement education, and a deep understanding of the body's intricate mechanics. With a holistic approach, she skillfully bridges the gap between Western and Eastern philosophies, providing a comprehensive understanding of the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of inversions. As we delve into the "yin" and "yang" of these practices, Freya offers insights into the restorative and dynamic aspects of inversions, guiding us through the physiological, emotional, and energetic effects of reversing the force of gravity on the body. Her wisdom extends to safety considerations, contraindications, and the importance of gradual progression, empowering practitioners to explore these postures with confidence and mindfulness. Freya's passion for empowering students and cultivating a non-judgmental, playful atmosphere shines through, as she shares teaching strategies and effective communication techniques for guiding students through inverted postures. With her second appearance on our podcast, Freya once again captivates us with her depth of knowledge and commitment to promoting transformative movement practices. In the latest episode of The Flow Artists Podcast, we speak with Renae Stevens and Kristin Mathiassen. Renae Stevens is the creator of the Aerial Yoga Therapeutics training program, a pioneering approach that integrates the aerial hammock as a therapeutic modality for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. With a background in yoga, somatic practices, and mental health recovery, Renae has developed a unique methodology that bridges the mind-body connection through the versatile and supportive medium of the aerial hammock. Kristin Mathiassen, a trained aerial yoga therapist, specialises in working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with Down syndrome. Her personal experience as a mother to a son with Down syndrome inspired her to explore the therapeutic potential of the aerial hammock and sensory-based activities. Kristin's expertise lies in creating safe, playful, and engaging environments that support the unique needs and abilities of her clients. The aerial hammock's "superpower," as described by Renae and Kristin, lies in its ability to provide a soothing, supportive, and sensory-regulating space for practitioners of all ages and abilities. Whether used for physical rehabilitation, mental health recovery, or simply as a means of exploring movement and body awareness, the hammock offers a diverse range of applications within the realm of aerial yoga therapeutics. One of the key strengths of aerial yoga therapeutics is its emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity. Renae and Kristin stress the importance of offering progressions, modifications, and grounding experiences to ensure the safety and engagement of participants with diverse needs and abilities. Instructors in this field must possess a deep understanding of the human body and the ability to adapt and facilitate sessions that cater to a wide spectrum of presentations. Renae is running a series of aerial yoga therapeutics training courses later this year. This is an opportunity to receive some of the best aerial yoga training available in the world with Renae and a whole host of experienced facilitators, including Kristin, as well as yoga luminaries such as Simon Borg Olivier. I'll be the first to say it. I had no idea aerial yoga was even a thing! Performing yoga poses, 3 feet off the ground in a hammock. First thoughts are: is there any need?Second thoughts of course: Should people bother with this?Is it that different to regular mat yoga? Something we also tried on the pod nearly 2 years ago, so at least we can compare. Whats the point in the hammock? Any added benefits? Just for fun? We're answering all these questions (also taking to Reddit to get some opinions) as well as talking about about our experience trying aerial yoga to let you know - is this something you should bother with? Liked this episode or have a suggestion for something we should bother doing? We'd love your review! Want to get in contact? September 2022.

In this episode we speak with Dr Kavitha Moahan, the author of Traditional Aerial Yoga, director of Aum Yoga Studio in Chennai Tamil Nadu India, a scientist, multiple world record holder and a recipient of the prestigious Yoga Kalaimamani award. While Kavitha has a strong physical practice, she sees yoga primarily as a path to self realisation and a way to achieve balance and peace within oneself, and focuses more on the therapeutic aspects of aerial yoga too. We were intrigued to learn more about how the Thottil, which is a traditional South Indian hammock used to soothe babies, to support deity statues in temples and even as part of funeral processions. This tool of emotional regulation and spiritual expression forms the basis of Kavitha's approach to aerial yoga along with her research focus from her science background and deep respect for the traditions of Yoga. Finding the balance between innovation and honouring tradition is just one of the topics we cover - we also talk about her time studying in Australia, pain science, body image, woman's health and some of the unique benefits of the thottil/aerial hammock.

Welcome to Episode #41 of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast! This week, I welcome Aurélie Martin Scally, who goes by Lily, is yoga teacher who founded five yoga studios in Morocco onto the Wild Yoga Tribe podcast. She first founded Om Yoga Studios in 2013, and then founded the EPIC Festival in Marrakech in 2019. Since 2019, she also runs EPIC yoga teacher trainings in Morocco. Lily studied ashtanga yoga in Thailand, and Aerial Yoga with Cirque du Soleil artists. For her, a beautiful series of yoga is like a work of art, a mix of technique and intuition. My conversation with Aurélie Martin Scally, who founded five yoga studios in Morocco, was so incredible as we took a deep dive into the world of studio ownership and how to cultivate energy and spirit in multiple studio centers. We also discussed yoga as a way to find balance. The world isn't black or white, and yoga is a way to discover, see, and accept all the variations of color you have inside of you. What to expect in the Yoga In Morocco episode of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast Aurélie discovered a Bikram yoga studio in Morocco, and after the death of her father, she found strength and solace on the yoga mat. The owner of that Bikram yoga studio, Nabil Scally, would soon become Lily's husband. After closing the Bikram yoga studio, Lily and Nabil founded Om Yoga Studios in Morocco, first in Casablanca and then later in Marrakech and Dakhla. They now own five yoga studios, and founded EPIC Yoga Festival and EPIC Yoga Teacher Trainings in Morocco, and available online— soon available around the world on their yoga world tour! During our conversation, Lily and I discussed what it was like to open a yoga studio in Morocco, and the advice she would offer to yoga teachers who hope to open their own yoga studios one day. Her main advice is to be careful to not get lost in the yoga studio area, keep your own personal practice strong and keep teaching. And to also be careful to not teach too much. It can be tempting to teach all-day every day, and also marketing, accounting, planning, and more— so many hats!— but to make sure not to burn yourself out. Curious? Tune into the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast to learn more about Lily, and about yoga in Morocco. For the skimmers - What's in the yoga in Morocco episode? What it's like to own multiple yoga studios How the balance of teaching and studio ownership Cultivating energy and keeping the spirit alive in a yoga studio even when you're not physically there yourself Advice to yoga teachers who want to open their own yoga studios Yoga is balance and a way of seeing and accepting all the variations of colors inside of yourself Connect with Aurélie Martin Scally www.omyoga.ma https://www.instagram.com/omyoga_studios/?hl=fr https://www.instagram.com/epic.ytt/ https://www.instagram.com/lily_scally/ Everything you need is just one click away! I was introduced to the practice as an uncommon way to get a full body workout while really tapping into my body. I truly enjoy what it allows me in terms of strength, mobility, feminine power, and a solid workout. I also enjoy giving that to others. All ages, sizes, fitness levels. I have the unique angle of being a plus sized and minority instructor in this practice. ALL ABOUT YOGA with Andrea Powers of Powers Yoga As part of a new series of Self Care Is My Job, the All About series, let's discuss all things Yoga with Andrea Powers of Powers Yoga. I met Andrea a few years back. She was looking for yoga instructor and I taught briefly in her adorable studio in Bergenfield NJ. Covid abruptly forced her to close down the studio, but luckily since then we have continued to work together. I have trained with Andrea in both Aerial Yoga and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) Yoga. And this October, I will be joining her to co-teach an amazing Yoga Alliance Approved Yoga Teacher Training. Andrea's story is inspiring and interesting in that she was led to yoga through her spirituality, whereas many others are led to yoga for the physical practice and then later introduced to the spirituality. I believe Andrea's beliefs and gifts contribute to her skill as a both an amazing teacher and a successful entrepreneur. She is a joy to work with on all levels, so if you're interested in deepening your understanding of all aspects of yoga, start here! And then if you want more, we have something else in store! Join Paulette and Anja for this candid conversation that digs deep into how relationships can thrive even in the most difficult of times. Anja is a mother of 2, in an intercultural relationship empowering other hardworking mothers (as a relationship coach) to live a happier and more fulfilling life, full of passion love and understanding- balancing energy, work & family by discovering their inner goddess. Here is a little of her story! I got married when I was only 23 years old. I did not belong to a certain culture or cult that obligated me to do that so early or anything nearly close to that, I was just a person who LOVED TO LOVE and always LOVED TOO MUCH. So when I fell in love with my, now ex-husband, it didn't take us long to get married. Neither did it take us long to get divorced :), but I have to say all these things we all so often call mistakes and wrongs, shaped me into the person I am today. Would not change a thing about my past. Right after the first year of studying Chinese studies at my local university, I decided to move FAR AWAY FROM SLOVENIA, and try out China. I went there with a one-way plane ticket, and that definitely was a ride of my life. Not the plane ride of course. I ended up living there for over 3 years, where of course, I met my ex-husband and the stories I have to tell you about that period of my life – not enough time in this post … But imagine the freedom; alone on the other side of the world, studying, working and mainly partying. I tested my skills and morals, fell many times, learned a lot about myself – especially about my stubbornness … ending up in the 4-year long relationship, I knew from the start was doomed, but being stubborn as I am, and mainly wanting to show the world how strong I am, lost 4 years of my life on a most devastating, self-destructive way I couldn't get myself out of, until … It was with a help of newly made friends that I finally found the RIGHT STRENGTH and started saying NO to the wrong things. After a year of a sad and unhappy marriage, I decided to get divorced. OMG, that felt good! People around me freaked out completely, as I was going mad, but nobody stopped and asked me to explain the sudden change of heart. It did not mean, I did not love him, OH LORD I DID – but I just knew this love will take me to the grave unless I CHANGE. At 24, divorced. Only a kid was missing and that would have really been an upsetting story. But thanks to God, I was still being protected a bit, not to screw myself up completely. Nevertheless, who would love a 24-year-old girl with an ex-husband in her hands already?! ◎ CANAL DO TELEGRAM: http://bit.ly/canalcocriando ◎ INSCREVA-SE no canal: http://bit.ly/ytcirculo ◎ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/circuloescola ◎ SPOTIFY: https://sptfy.com/circulo ◎ FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/circuloescola ◎ LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/company/circuloescola

Yoga helped Larissa heal her anxiety, depression, and negative thought patterns. After establishing a consistent practice, she felt like she was brought back to her true self and knew that she wanted to share her experience with others. Larissa loves all forms of the yoga practice, but finds herself most at home teaching Hatha, Yin, Aerial Yoga, and Acroyoga. She has been teaching since 2018 and continues her education on and off the mat every day.

Margie has been doing aerial yoga for 7 years. She quit her job and wanted to make aerial yoga a daily thing for women and has now grown a community of women who are passionate about it. Now, she is living her dream. She got into yoga when she was running half marathons and injured her knees. A few people recommended yoga to her and she gave it a try. She really liked it and also enjoyed the meditation part of it. She was finally able to sit with herself and felt like a different person after her first meditation. Margie became happier and nicer to people and wanted to turn this into her new lifestyle. At that moment she decided to become a yoga teacher and tried everything to make it happen. She grew an audience and people wanted to do yoga with her. Someone offered her a teacher training for aerial yoga and she just went for it and quit her job afterward. In this interview, Margie is giving tips to anyone who wants to grow a business. She likes to be authentic and recommends that to others as well. She talks about her routine and how she got to where she is today, running a successful YouTube channel and business. Lastly, she is talking about the struggles introverts can face and how to overcome them. She believes, that it's important to have the right mindset and she shares her tips about that as well. Margie's favorite book or podcast: - “Live awake” is her favorite podcast which is deep and beautiful and connects you to your souls and heart via meditation. - “The Vortex” by Esther and Jerry Hicks and “You Are a Badass at Making Money” which helps women to be their best and inspires them to make money. Quote she is living by or feels inspired by: - “What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?” She saw that quote on a bumper sticker and she realized that we only have one life and we need to be dedicated and devoted to our mission and our purpose that is the ultimate happiness that we can ever find. Magic wand with a gift to people: - People should truly know that they are worth it and that they have what they need to go after the craziest dream that they have. They have it inside them and they can make it happen. We can go after the exciting things in our lives and if we get lost in the process, everything will unfold perfectly. What is the first image that comes to mind when you think of aerial yoga? Is it a thin young woman, lithely moving about in an aerial hammock, maybe dangling upside down in some weird pretzel shape that barely resembles anything with the name yoga attached to it? Is it something more akin to a circus performance, with tricks and flips and a silk fabric digging into god knows where? To borrow a phrase from Morpheus of the matrix films, what if I were to tell you, that everything you know about aerial yoga is wrong? Well perhaps not wrong, but just not the full picture. This is why we were so excited to speak with Renae Stevens for this episode. Renae is a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Australia, a certified yoga therapist and holds her master's degree in art therapy. In our opinion, she is the foremost aerial yoga teacher in Australia. She helped bring aerial yoga to Australia way back in 2011, being a senior trainer for antigravity - the organisation founded by Christopher Harrison. We had an awesome time hanging out with twitch streamer TIffyKat! She shared some travel stories and how she keeps her energy up for all the fitness! Legato probably talked more on this than any other episode of ShutUpLet'sTalk! So ridiculous.
Alisha Adams came into to discuss working in the adult entertainment industry. She prefers to walk about nature rather than staying inside. She also does caregiving and works as a personal chef. She is also into cuddling and but cuddlecomfort decided since she was associated with the adult industry to kick her off the site. She has been with her boyfriend since high school. She is into Remy Lacroix and a lot of lesbian work. She wants to try Aerial Yoga and has did Hot yoga for about six months. It is pretty intense and it doesn't smell as bad as you think. It is ventilated. She prefers Thai PK due to its proximity to her in Portland, Oregon.

Centering Habits for Mind and Body with Jessika Mikol - 2-4-17 - Mind Body Spirit Living Remember the way you felt as you wrapped up your most recent relaxing vacation? Don’t you wish the feelings of fulfillment, peace and calm could last forever? Though the stress and pace of everyday life can often keep us from experiencing those levels of relaxation all the time, it IS possible to dip into that calming energy with a shift in habits. What can we do each day that can bring us to a more centered place, in our minds and bodies? Join us this week for a discussion with a yoga teacher and Ayurvedic chef who incorporates many of these habits and practices into her daily life and shares her advice on how you too can slowly shift toward balance. Jessika Mikol loves practicing and sharing the philosophy and habits of Yoga and Ayurveda with people of all ages. She is certified in Hatha Yoga and Aerial Yoga with Yoga Alliance and has a Masters in Living Ayurveda from yogahealer.com. Jessika has been teaching yoga for 7 years and practicing for 14. She founded and operated a yoga collective for five years and now is collaborating with a fellow artist and yoga teacher on a project bringing together yoga and creativity. She recently founded Spiral Space, a healing arts gallery with mat, aerial yoga and meditation classes as well as massage therapy, Ayurvedic self-care classes and an evolutionary transformative Book club. Raised on a sustainable farm in Nova Scotia, Canada, Jessika’s connection to healthy food and natural living is deeply rooted. She worked for several seasons on a CSA in Plymouth WI and is currently an active member of the Racine Urban Garden Network. She also gardens at home; each year transforming more of her backyard to garden. Jessika deeply appreciates food as nourishment and for the sensual experience, and takes great pleasure in cooking simple rustic meals from locally grown foods. She loves collecting wild edibles and concocting salads, smoothies and soups that deeply nourish the body & soul. Ayurveda has helped refine her skills in the kitchen, especially through the use of spices as medicinal plants to satiate the palate and to deeply nourish any imbalances. Jessika focuses on reconnecting and remembering the creative forces that guides us through life changes, and has done 10 day silent meditation retreats in the Vipassana tradition under the lineage of S.N. Goenka. She is deeply inspired and soothed by spending time outdoors in the beauty of nature, and loves unplugged time (without electronics) with her teenage daughter spent road-tripping, camping, hiking or just sitting on a beach. Sometimes we plain and simple need help. Peter s guests on this edition of Out to Lunch are all people whose businesses are about helping. Helping you feel better. And do better.
