From chart-topping hits to life-threatening lows—how did Timbaland go from producing for Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Justin Timberlake to battling addiction and obesity? And more importantly, how did he take his life back? In this raw and revealing conversation, music icon Timbaland shares the blueprint behind his incredible transformation—how he broke free from opioid addiction, lost 130 pounds, and rewired his mindset for long-term success. He and Dave dive into the power of discipline, the dangers of quick fixes, and the hard truths about personal transformation. Timbaland opens up about the mental shift that saved his life, how he kicked a high-dose opioid habit cold turkey, and why his new “drug” of choice is something anyone can access. Most people want change, but few actually achieve it. What separates those who succeed from those who stay stuck? And how can you apply Timbaland's hard-earned lessons to your own life? What You'll Learn: • The #1 mindset shift that made weight loss & addiction recovery possible • Why self-discipline beats willpower—and how to build it like a muscle • The real reason most diets fail—and what actually works • The truth about opioid addiction and recovery—why most people never escape • How your daily habits shape your future—and how to change them fast • The shocking link between addiction, metabolism & long-term health • How Timbaland stayed clean without rehab—and why relapse wasn't an option We'd like to extend our gratitude to Eudēmonia for providing the opportunity to record with Timbaland at their event. But that's how your heart helps you to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.Join us as Light Watkins guides us towards a life of mindfulness, authenticity, and self-realization.[07.00] Minimalism – Starting the conversation, Light shares the difference between minimalism and spiritual minimalism.[14.56] Vedic meditation – We discuss how Vedic meditation works and its two types of meditators.[21.50] Self-realization – The universe has a voice. Scott Schwenk's teachings, through a mixture of Dharma talks, Meditations, and Breathwork Practices, guide seekers to explore their deepest selves leading them to live their lives free from tension and full of trust. Known for his hugely popular Wanderlust Festival workshops, his Unplug teachings, and online training, Scott has been catalyzing the inner evolution of others for decades: helping them to grow, transform obstacles into opportunities, and find Love within. Scott spent several years living and studying in a Hindu monastery which introduced him to the core body of Tantric traditions which continue to flow through each of his teachings. Apprenticeships in leadership development, meditation and philosophy training, spiritual awakening, and Vedic rituals were all part of Scott's development into the thought leader that he is today. As we hopefully begin to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, we step into the harsh light of a world on fire. Social injustice, climate change, corruption, inequality have never appeared so prominent. A landscape of crisis begging to be solved, and the failed detritus of all previous attempts at stewardship are calling for a new approach. Is a spiritual revolution the answer we're looking for? And what would that look like in a world where the genie of materialism has been out of the lamp far too long to be pushed back in? Perhaps, instead of looking for answers ‘out there' we should follow the advice of Thich Nhat Hanh, who said, “the way out is in.” But is contemplative introspection really the answer? Can that lead to the real change we need, or is it merely turning our backs on the problems of the world? In this episode of Conversations on Living (the new name of this podcast) I speak with Jeff Krasno, founder of Commune and The Wanderlust Festival, about how we can first do the work on ourselves that is required to give us the strength to lead others towards healing. We're always going through some kind of loss, celebration, or change in our lives. Joining me to discuss the importance of ritual during times of great transition is Day Schildkret. Day is internationally known for the creation of Morning Altars, beautiful pieces of impermanent art. He is also the author of Hello, Goodbye: 75 Rituals for Times of Loss, Celebration, and Change.  A conversation about divorce is a conversation about endings. In order to begin again, it is important to mark this transition. Putting things in order through ritual can be healing. It helps you to feel resourced, reoriented, supported and witnessed. Learning how to let go and honor what once was, through ritual, is such an important topic. I hope you truly enjoy this conversation.  “Endings are valuable. The better you can end something, the better you can begin something new.” Show Highlights Why Day says, “You have to change with change.”  And what it means to participate in ending something, such as a relationship or marriage. (7:52) Endings need more from us than just going through the threshold. (10:02) Ritual: what it is and how it helps. (11:26) Why you need witnesses for endings as much as you do for beginnings. Witnesses affirm you are not alone and also acknowledge that change is happening. (12:17) Life transitions: we need to mark the places where we are turning, if we don't we still think we are on the same path. (15:54) Day talks about Morning Altars and how divorce and grief inspired him to start this practice of creating impermanent art from nature. (23:51) Rituals always have a beginning, middle, and end. They are contained and allow the space for grief, uncertainty, and emotion.  They encourage wholeness. (29:20) Day talks us through one of the divorce rituals from his book Hello, Goodbye: 75 Rituals for Times of Loss, Celebration, and Change. (31:31) There is a right and wrong time to do a ritual. If you are in the heat of a divorce or transition, it may not be the right time. (35:07) The importance of moving from grievance into grief. (38:47) Learn more about Day Schildkret: DAY SCHILDKRET is internationally known for Morning Altars and has inspired tens of thousands of people across the globe to heal and connect with nature, art and ritual. BuzzFeed calls Day's work, “a celebration of nature and life.”   Day's first book, Morning Altars: A 7-Step Practice to Nourish Your Spirit through Nature, Art and Ritual (The Countryman Press/WW Norton) ignited an international movement with a practice that renews and redeems our relationship to the living world. He recently launched the inaugural cohort of the year-long Morning Altars Practitioner Training & Certification with 100 students from five different continents. Day has an ever-growing and active audience of 64k followers on Instagram, over 25k on Facebook.  Day has taught workshops and created large-scale installations at Google, The 9/11 Memorial Plaza, The Hammerstein Ballroom, The Andy Warhol Foundation, California Academy of Sciences, 1440 Multiversity, Lakewood Historic Cemetery, Wellspring Conference, The Culture Conference, Wisdom 2.0 Conference, Wanderlust Festival, The Assemblage, The Alchemist Kitchen, Butte College, Naropa University, the ReImagine End-of-Life Festival, and many others.   Day's art is on permanent exhibition at the California Museum of Oakland and had been featured in the store windows at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC. We also get real and raw about the challenges we face  embracing the new paradigm since it can be hard to break away from old conditioning that tells us we need to work harder, push ourselves and sacrifice our well being to achieve our goals. We are also both Projectors in human design and dig into the specific challenges this design can face and how we can help lead the way in embracing the shift in how the world works.  Learn more about Hilary's offerings at www.meditationchick.com and connect with her on Instagram after show @meditationchick.Please stay in touch with us after the show on Instagram!@tiffanynicolepaul@dreamlifepodcast@thesleptlifeMore about our guest:Hilary Jackendoff began studying Tantric Yoga in 2008, following a powerful experience with Yoga Nidra at an ashram in New Zealand. So welcome to my exciting first conversation with guest Erin Telford. Erin is a certified Breathwork teacher and healer, acupuncturist, Reiki Master, and herbalist, based in Topanga California. The first time I did Erin's breathwork , it was with my dear friend Jo, I had no idea what to expect. I laughed, I cried and roared and afterwards felt a complete reset, filled with love and totally blissed out. It was one of those moments that was life changing.. and By the following weekend we'd booked flights to New Mexico to do the training. Erin shares how breathwork can empower us to connect with our intuition, channel our inner strength, and recognize our own ability to heal. As a skilled practitioner, she was doing the work but it wasn't until she experienced David Elliott's style of breathwork at a yoga retreat in Nicaragua that she found, what she describes as the missing piece of the puzzle. She explains having so much rage and grief and sadness in her body, and not knowing how to express it. Breathwork was a powerful and safe space where for the first time, she was able to feel it all - then release it. It was a revelation, and one that left her feeling love, compassion and acceptance in a way she'd never felt. She's helped people all over the world gain emotion freedom and clarity has created Breathwork experiences for Soul Cycle, Goop Health in NY and Wanderlust Festival. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Nylon, Well + Good and The Numinous. We talk about: Transitions and how leaving New York and the dream job in fashion, 15 years ago was the best thing she ever did - how midlife could do with a rebrand - How living in your true essence: isn't just good for you - it's better for the world! How clearing pain and suffering from your body can really brighten your face! She's is currently writing her first book and this conversation took place at her home in Topanga Canyon at the very beginning of lockdown. Enjoy In this episode:- - Discussing the deep rich possibility for evolution, we face as humanity. - Evaluating your life and knowing when to wait and when to act. - Where and how to find your answers. - Developing your relationship to spirit & nature and receiving guidance and support. - If you're in a situation/life/career that you feel is killing you slowly - it might be a good idea to leave it..maybe. And if you're good where you are..stay there! - Death as a catalyst for expansion and inspiration - to make a different choice or make a different move. - The importance of feeling joy in your body. - How when you experience grief - it opens up a ‘grief window' for every grief you've ever experienced, to feel it, heal it and move it out of the body. - Becoming the person you needed when you were growing up.
