They reminisce about high school and how they struggled to find their identity. They talk long and hard about the connectivity of music and concerts. They bonded over A-Ha as kids and today Ball Park Music as adults, and continue to bond over music and the connection it can bring.Carl talks about loneliness being a measure of unkept expectations. Pipin: Live at Yonder Festival, Mary Valley, 25 November 2021 Pipin began as the project of singer/songwriter Bec Hoole in 2018 when she began collaborating with her partner, Hugh Middleton from the band Mid Ayr. In the past year Pipin have racked up some major support slots with the likes of Hatchie and Ball Park Music. The live band consists of Hoole on vocals, Middleton on guitar, George Reed on bass and synth bass and Zac Moynihan on drums. In this episode we have the usual nonsense, but we also talk about the following bands played: 1. Rackett - RACKETT are an all-girl, riot-pop squad from Sydney, Australia. The band is fronted by Rebecca Callander on rhythm guitar and vocals, Ally Gaven on bass, Astrid Holz on drums and Kat Ayala on lead guitar. The members have undergone extensive music and performance training and specialise in a range of genres from jazz to heavy metal. Their combined powers make for a diverse and highly skilled songwriting team, taking no time at all to move from their once virtual anonymity to becoming a house hold name. Receiving spots and rotations on community and commercial radio, features in Rolling Stone Magazine, Tone Deaf, Music Feeds & more and earning a fierce reputation for crafting an adventurous live show described by The Music, as both “Intense” & “Magical” as well as receiving a nomination as ‘Best Live Act’, 2018 by the National Live Music Awards alongside Ball Park Music and Hockey Dad. After supporting the likes of Abbe May, The Bennies, DZ Deathrays and having championed national tours with the likes of The Darkness (UK), Killing Heidi and Stonefield. RACKETT are also no strangers to the Festival Circuit bringing their distinctive sound to Groovin the Moo, Big Pineapple Festival, Festival of the Sun, Secret Garden Festival, Hotter than Hell, Electric Lady, Jungle Love and more. https://www.facebook.com/RACKETT.tv 2. Seja talks to Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music) about being in Brisbane’s politest band, their connection with fans and how he started loving music listening to his parent's classic 60s and 70s vinyl collection. Sam talks about how learning instruments gave him a sense of identity, his progression as a guitarist and singer including his experiences being transformed into a different person on stage and how he juggled university, jobs and touring. He tells Seja about the band’s instant connection with her high school friend; producer Matt Redlich, their luck with Australian radio support and his relationship with certain aspects of songwriting such as repetition. Sam’s strange show story is illustrated by @softnudiejazz and can be seen on Instagram @hearsejpodcast or on the HearSej Facebook page.
