The role of trusted advisors in leading digital transformation. Challenges in adopting new tech, especially in larger firms with undertrained internal finance teams. The critical importance of training staff and upskilling, starting from the advisory end and working backwards. I had a brilliant time at the Expo. I delivered four sessions on Apps, Ai, ChatGPT & Habits and honestly was shocked at how packed they all were. Expos give me an efficient opportunity to catch up with Sydney friends and, as it was not purely an accounting conference, but also a business conference, there were colleagues from different industries. As well as speaking with lots of people, I attended a few sessions, and I'm not even sure how I managed it, but I recorded 8 interviews from the floor. Artificial Intelligence, or "AI", is one of the hottest topics today as more companies use it to streamline operations, increase productivity, and improve customer service. And while it seems like AI just recently burst onto the scene, today's guest wrote a book two years ago, called The Best Robot Wins, which touched on the coming wave of AI in the workplace and its potential benefits and disruptions.Krystal Parker is the president of the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce as well as an author and business consultant. On this episode of The Clarity Advisors Show, Krystal and host Ken Trupke discuss the impact of AI on business culture and how leaders can prepare themselves and their teams for the coming changes.Timestamps(01:00): About the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce(04:03): Differences between building and inheriting a team(06:00): What's happened with AI since the book came out?(10:58): Disruption in the workplace caused by AI(14:44): The CEO of tomorrow vs. the CEO of today(18:03): Getting your team on board(20:45): Gaining the trust of skeptical team members(23:36): Finding the right balance(26:07): Areas where humans still have the edge(31:38): Krystal's recommended reading and listening(33:33): How to connect with Krystal Parker Episode Quotes“I just want to encourage anybody that's starting a business or trying to get momentum in your business. Leverage collaborations, partners, and your network to help you to grow.” (Krystal)“The greatest competitive advantage lies in a leader's ability to create good systems and processes so the human worker can thrive.” (Krystal)“We're going to see more change in three to ten years in technology in the workplace than we saw in the last fifty.” (Krystal)“The companies that are able to adapt and be agile and innovative and disruptive are the ones that are going to stick around.” (Krystal)“Put the robots in to do what robots can do and save those humans for what only humans can do.” (Krystal)“It used to be that the computer was only as smart as what you were able to type into it, and now the generative AI is beyond that. In a study done by the House Committee on Small Business, Black business ownership declined more than 40% within the first two months of the pandemic- the largest decrease across any ethnic group. Even before the widespread impacts of COVID-19, Black businesses faced many financial hurdles due to racial wealth disparities. Federal funding and many grant programs became available; however, the majority of businesses didn't take advantage of these resources. This is what led Vaughn Wilson, a local small business owner, to create the vision for the Black Business Expo. Wilson has worked closely with the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality (OEV) to bring this highly anticipated event to life. On this week's episode of the Tallahassee Business Podcast presented by MillCreek Financial Consultants, Vaughn joins us to share his own story of survival and how he's using his platform to share local resources with fellow black business owners. On February 25, 2023, Mega Ace Media, OEV, bankers, and business development partners will come together for the 2nd Annual Black Business Expo. Tune in to learn more about this year's event and the $15,000 in grant funding being awarded. Learn more about the Black Business Expo by visiting www.BBETally.com.
