Happy Friday, yo! Busy weekend ahead with a Pat McCurdy show at the Alpine Inn, the 21st Annual Beer, Wine, & Cheese Fest tomorrow, and my 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday. I think I need a nap. In the news this morning, the latest on the "Baby Angel" case, a man who brought a gun to a school in Eau Claire yesterday, Drug Take Back Day is happening tomorrow around the state, some possible severe weather could be heading our way on Monday, and some new food items available at the Fiserv Forum during the Bucks playoff run. In sports, the Brewers blew it against the Giants last night and held a closed-door meeting after the game to try & figure things out. We talked about the top picks in last night's NFL Draft from Green Bay, WI. And we discussed the Packers' pick at #23. Plus, the scores from yesterday's NBA & NHL games, and a look ahead at tonight's slate of playoff action in both the NBA & NHL. Elsewhere in sports, the Bucks are down 0-2 to the Pacers in their first round series, but decided that yesterday was the best time to announce that they are extending their GM's contract. And Katherine Legge is calling out people for sending her death threats on social media. Doc joined us to talk racing just after 8am this morning thanks to County Materials in Holmen. We let you know what's on TV this weekend and what's new in theaters. Plus, some new music releases you might want to check out. Funny video going viral of a Great Dane who's not too pleased with his vet, and another video went viral of a girl who was just looking for some feedback on her prom dress but got a lot more than she asked for in return. America's latest "health risk" is in the form of paper receipts! EVERYONE PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out this 5 Hour Energy/hot sauce collab with Taco John's. I think I'll pass. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a manager at a Sonic restaurant that gave a gummie to an underage employee, a new scratch-n-sniff billboard in NYC, a woman in North Carolina who stole over $13,000 worth of merchandise from a couple of Bath & Body stores in the area, a kid who tried to poison his mother by pouring bleach in her milk, another reason to avoid flying, Bonnie Blue turning down an offer to make some money, and another teacher who got fired for being on OnlyFans.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Two award-winning top chefs, a news station producer, a fine-palated foodie, and a podcast host sit down at a table together – no, this isn’t the first line of a very obscure bar joke, this is what happened at the 4th annual San Diego Mac ‘n Cheese Fest! I had the honor of joining the expert panel of judges at the San Diego Mac & Cheese Fest, and I had a forking blast helping decide the winner of the Best Gourmet Mac n’ Cheese in San Diego. I can’t reveal everything that went down behind the scenes, but I can share a few judge’s secrets with all of you. So who won this cheesy, covetous prize? You’ll have to listen to find out, but I will tell you a few of my favorites: Uptown Tavern: http://www.uptowntavernsd.com The Smoking Gun: http://www.thesmokinggunsd.com Viewpoint Brewery: https://www.viewpointbrewing.com Stacked: http://www.stacked.com Lazy Dog Restaurant: https://www.lazydogrestaurants.com Are you ready for an adventure? During the show I talk about the importance of cutting your curd a consistent size and the effect of cooking the curd has on your final cheese. It's a follow-up from an email I received from a customer who was having problems when draining their curd. She was making Feta at the time and wasn't aware of the importance of curd size and stirring to expel some of the whey before draining. Mind you, she did end up with a very nice Ricotta ;-). I was happy to help out as I did the same thing once in the early days! Stirring Curds whilst cooking The news covers off three local events over the next month; Mozzarella & Ricotta Workshop taught by Gavin - Saturday 18th October 2015 Prahran Market Cheese Festival - Saturday 24th October 2015 (see you there). The Wine and Cheese Fest in Williamstown - Sunday 25th October 2015 Today’s Q&A is about the following topics; Shelly asks about vacuum packing Feta to reduce salt penetration Judy wants to know how to keep blue cheese from going gooey Scott requests a cheese history podcast episode or two and compares cheese making to beer brewing Mark suggests a new video tutorial on Cottage Cheese. Now as you know, this show thrives on answering your cheese making questions, so don't be shy. There must be millions of cheese makers out there who want to know the answer to some issue they have faces, and even if I haven't come across the issue before, I will do some research and answer it on the show. Send through your written question via the contact page. Also, if you have time, don't forget that you can leave a voicemail question for me via the SpeakPipe widget below. I would love to hear from you and will answer your question as quickly as I can. Also if you are looking for good quality cheese making kits, supplies, and equipment, you can get them from Kim and me over at Little Green Workshops. We now ship our products all over Australia and New Zealand!
