Special Christmas Episode! That last gift that was hiding behind the tree is this week's episode of RTA Uncut #6 with my guest and friend, Nicky Billou. Nicky is back in the studio to catch up with us since he was last on Episode 60 of Return to Authenticity back over a year ago on May 3, 2023. Go check out episode 60 to hear Nicky's powerful story.A brief summary of that episode is that Nicky was born in Iran and lived there as a young boy in the 60's and 70's, before what was once a thriving country fell into a country of oppression and tyranny, leading his family to flee and settle in Toronto, Canada. His father's entrepreneurial spirit guided Nicky to follow a similar path and he now coaches executives at some of the largest companies in Canada, like RBC and Lululemon, and he is a multi-time best-selling author, WITH A NEW BOOK OUT TITLED, “Get Booked and Get Paid”, and is podcast host of the Thought Leader Revolution Podcast and The Sovereign Man Podcast, among other things. RTA Uncut 3 is here with my good friend Aaron Guyett! You'll remember Aaron from episode 42 of Return to Authenticity where he talks at length about his journey from Christian-in-name-only to Nihilist to Unapologetic Christ Follower. It's an awesome journey and so go check it out if you missed episode 42. Aaron developed the app "Discipled in Christ" with his good friend and fellow disciple, Steve Stary. Discipled in Christ is a free app and has great tools and courses in Daily Discipleship, Apologetics and Parenting. It will give you the nourishment to fill your cup and the fuel you need for the journey of discipleship. If you like what you see, Aaron and Steve could use your support with a small monthly donation to cover the operating costs of the app, if you feel so called. Links below. Return to Authenticity Episode 46! This is the first "part 2" episode with Chris Trapper returning to the studio for a continuation of our first conversation on last week's episode 45. I love talking with Chris and we settle into an easy banter brought on by knowing each other since we were kids living down the street from one another, playing sports and chasing adventure the way we did before TV, the internet and social media gave us other options. Chris talks about starting over as a solo artist after establishing himself as the lead singer of The Push Stars. He also talks about his summer tour with Pat Benatar, Sammy Hagar, George Thorogood and more and what it's like to age as a musician and stay relevant. Enjoy! For someone who's been on the road for more than 150 dates a year for the past 15 years, Chris Trapper appears to have taken his unsolicited break from touring pretty well. In between weekly livestreams on Facebook & Instagram, Trapper also performed in his fan's backyards across the country all summer long during his “Socially Distanced Backyardapalooza”. To top it all off, Chris entered a studio near his home in Boston, MA to record his new album “Cold Water Waltz”. “Recording an album in normal times is an interesting experience, so imagine creating new music during a global pandemic. Although I worked intensely with the producers (Brad Young and Jason Meeker) in their respective studios, I could rest assured because as most musicians know; audio engineers social distanced before it was trending.” The album is a mostly stripped-down affair, with the focus squarely on Trapper's achingly honest lyrics, honeyed tenor and delicate fingerpicking. The record features Boston legends Duke Levine (Aimee Man, Peter Wolf) & Jim Prescott (G Love & Special Sauce) as well as Matt Beck (Matchbox Twenty, Rod Stewart) & even a co-write with Rob Thomas. “I wrote most of these songs when I was opening for Rob over the summer of 2019. There were lots of days off then and admittedly, it was easy to get inspired to write new songs after witnessing so many thousands of people psyched to hear his songs every night. Rob & I wrote the song “Clear” together and he is truly the coolest guy to co-write with as he is all about the creative process and never about the ego.” “Cold Water Waltz” was released on October 16th, 2020 and is available at christrapper.com and on all

DAY 3 of "GOING VIRAL: Staying Sane, Healthy & Connected during the Coronavirus Outbreak of 2020." **Please Note: The opinions expressed in this podcast are my own and my guest's own. If you are experiencing a true medical emergency or symptoms, please call 911.** -->I'm so excited to introduce my next guest, one of my best friends for nearly 40 years, Hania Khuri-Trapper! Hania is a certified Yoga Instructor and Teacher Trainer, Reiki Master and all around inspirational woman. Hania is a longtime childhood friend, devoted mom, outstanding graphic designer and a true inspiration to us all. Hania offers us 5 Helpful Tips for keeping safe and healthy... 1) Be Present. Pause in this present moment and slow everything down. Be here, right now. 2)Be Positive. Find Acceptance where we are, knowing we can't control what is happening. Find Gratitude and be grateful for the things you do have, not what you do not. Try to move away from Fear, Guilt and Anxiety...into a place of hope and positivity. 3) Step away from the news. Don't obsessively read websites and go down the negativity "rabbit hole." Take a break. 4)Stay Healthy by eating nutritious foods, drink water, exercise/workout or just take a nice walk. Do what you can to move your body in a even a little way. 5) Rest your body and get much needed sleep. Sleep is one of the most important things you can do to restore and rest your body. So take a nap, snuggle up and relax. -->In addition, she suggests not to over-schedule our kids so much during this time. They spend all of their days at school, then soccer, dance, basketball, or any number of extracurricular activities...and we are all exhausted! So take this opportunity to look for the silver lining in all of this TIME we have, and reconnect with our families in the "old school" and simple way. -->You can find her at www.yogawithhania.com -->Facebook: www.facebook.com/YogawithHania -->Instagram: @YogawithHania (www.instagram.com/yogawithhania) -->And, she just started doing a weekly yoga class on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/HaniaKT/videos -->A Big Thank You to Hania's husband, the incredibly talented, award-winning artist, Chris Trapper, for his song "Into the Bright Lights," which I played in the beginning of our interview. Our very first ConcertCast with Brent Shuttleworth was an experiment. Have our guest play a few, sit with us for 20 minutes or so and have a Q&A in front of a live audience followed by a full performance. It was an amazing evening and Brent brought the house down. So we decided to up our game. Back in June we met at the beautiful City Winery in Boston in front of a sold out Haymarket Lounge for our second ConcertCast with prolific Singer-Songwriter and front man for Boston’s own The Push Stars Chris Trapper. And if we do say so ourselves it was a huge success! It was through sitting with Chris for our conversation that we were really able to get an idea of what makes him tick – his love of the road, the importance of family and how gratitude has become a big part of who he is. The entire live performance from this night will be available on our next In Concert Series episode by subscribing to our podcast which you can do at abovethebasement.com. Song List: (all songs are LIVE) Song 1: Living Downtown Song 2: Paint The Town Song 3: The Accident

Upcoming shows! New music! Fun stuff! Oh my!
It’s Junofest weekend in Winnipeg, and there’s so much going on that today’s show had to be pre-recorded, but I had to make sure that there was something on to celebrate great Canadian music and a couple of exciting upcoming events.

I’m still buzzing after a couple of AMAZING house concerts this week, so a few moments from those, as well as some house concert dreams and some hot new music.
We’ve got some great new music to keep us warm today, during the winter that never ends. Thoughts of upcoming shows sure helps, and we’ve got some good ones!

A bit of a shorter episode today as I’m off to see Express and Co. at River City Social Club, but I had to come in to remind you of some great upcoming events and play a few old favourites.

Holger
This episode I am pleased to have Chris Trapper in the studio for an interview and performance. He was unable to come in a couple of months ago as a family emergency prompted the cancellation of a few dates of his tour, which included his appearance on this show. Now Chris is back on the road and after a great show at Mick's, he stopped by the studio the next morning for coffee and music on Worlds of Wayne. Unfortunately, I was a bit under the weather and as you will see, had absolutely no voice. Regardless, it turned out just fine and Chris played a few tunes and talked about his current tour. To be honest, for the past 3 months, I have been listening to his records "Hey You" and "Songs From The Middle Of The World" just about non-stop. Something which I have had the pleasure of doing with studio guests only a couple of times. If you have never heard of this fellow Chris Trapper, then you will probably recognize his voice as soon as he starts singing. His songs have appeared in several movies, TV and radio. He was in a band called the Pushstars. They were kinda a big deal. Now he is on another solo tour crossing the country bringing his fans his amazing brand of music. Click below for more info.
