Can fractured societies pull themselves back from the brink? Is America doomed to slide into another civil war? Or, are we already engaged in a kind of Cold Civil War? In this episode of Context, we examine three powerful case studies of recovery: England emerging from the Wars of the Roses in the 15th century West Germany rising from the rubble of 1945 America clawing its way out of the malaise of the 1970s Each story reveals how societies that seemed broken beyond repair found ways to discipline elites, renew their principles, and restore confidence in themselves and in the future. As America faces mounting political violence and cultural fatigue, these examples remind us that collapse is not destiny. Renewal has always required sacrifice, leadership, and moral courage, but history proves it is possible. Lou on a California judge ruling against the use of the National Guard in Los Angeles.
Lou on a new poll that says the redistricting of California will happen.
Chuck Todd delivers a searing indictment of American democracy's collapse as Trump agrees to a Putin summit in Alaska without including Ukraine's Zelenskyy, while both parties abandon constitutional principles in favor of a destructive "cold civil war" over redistricting and power. He warns that Trump's desperation for a peace deal with Putin poses enormous dangers, while Republicans openly flout the Constitution and Democrats have taken the bait to "fight fire with fire" in an immoral game that betrays the founders' vision of preventing both kingship and tyranny of the majority. He argues that constitutional guardrails only work when enforced, and that leaders are capitulating to Trump and refusing to use the tools the founders provided. Then, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and intelligence expert Tim Weiner joins Chuck for a devastating assessment of how Trump's appointment of "crackpots" to lead America's national security apparatus threatens catastrophic intelligence failures and the potential collapse of democratic institutions. Weiner warns that figures like John Ratcliffe, who has worked to absolve Russia of election interference, and Tulsi Gabbard, whom he describes as an "agent of influence" for the Kremlin, represent unprecedented political bias at intelligence agencies that could lead Trump to declare martial law and cancel elections if another attack occurs. He argues that Trump has taken a "wrecking ball to national security," systematically destroying the trust that serves as the "only currency" in intelligence work, while allied agencies now hesitate to share critical information about Russia and other threats with an administration they cannot trust. The conversation explores the broader implications of Trump's intelligence appointments, from Marco Rubio putting his "manhood in a blind trust" to serve Trump, to Ratcliffe's exposure of CIA agents recruited during Biden's tenure, making DOGE staffers prime targets for Chinese intelligence operations. Weiner details how China seeks to project its surveillance state into America while Russia continues its aggressive expansion, warning that Putin will attack the Baltics if allowed to keep Ukrainian territory. The episode also delves into the CIA's evolution since the Cold War, their departure from secret prisons, the agency's struggles with cyber capabilities compared to the NSA, and why conspiracy theories—including persistent questions about JFK assassination files—could contribute to democracy's death, even as Weiner definitively states that the CIA didn't kill Kennedy while acknowledging the agency's fear of revealing their Oswald connections. Finally, he answers listeners' questions in the “Ask Chuck” segment!Timeline:(Timestamps may vary based on advertisements)00:00 Introduction03:30 Trump agrees to summit with Putin in Alaska05:30 Western democracies on edge ahead of summit06:15 Zelenskyy should be at the summit07:30 The danger is Trump wants a peace deal too badly08:45 Redistricting war is a sign of a cold civil war09:30 Trump and Republicans are flouting the constitution11:00 The Democrats response of “fight fire with fire”13:00 If Democrats go low, then Trump wins14:00 Founders feared a king and tyranny of the majority15:30 The founders gave us tools, people in power refuse to use them17:00 Congressional Republicans have refused to perform oversight19:00 Guardrails only work if they're used and enforced20:00 Everyone is capitulating to Trump22:30 Democrats have taken the bait, will play Trump's immoral game24:15 The founding fathers would be appalled25:45 RFK Jr.'s decision will kill people, and they still won't impeach him27:15 Leaders in both parties are failing the people30:30 Fancis Collins desperate to communicate public health tragedy31:30 It will take years to undo damage RFK has done to health and science32:30 Vaccine disinfo led to shooting at the CDC35:15 Tech companies allowed Kennedy's terrible ideas to spread37:00 Kennedy has committed multiple impeachable offenses38:30 Tim Weiner joins the Chuck ToddCast! 40:00 Is the CIA still trying to figure out its role post Cold War? 44:45 The CIA out of the business of secret prisons 46:00 Is there regret at the CIA for their post 9/11 tactics 47:15 The people in currently in charge of national security are crackpots 49:15 Jon Rattcliffe has worked to absolve Russia of election interference 51:00 Political bias at intel agencies is at an unprecedented level 53:00 Fealty to Trump at intel agencies increases risk of catastrophic failure 53:45 How Trump would react if another attack happened 54:45 Trump could use an attack to declare martial law, cancel elections 56:15 Is intelligence sharing with allies at huge risk now? 58:00 The CIA relies on friendly foreign intelligence services 59:15 Allied agencies would hesitate to share intel on Russia with Gabbard 1:00:00 Trump has taken a wrecking ball to national security 1:01:00 If Putin gets to keep a piece of Ukraine, he'll attack the Baltics 1:02:45 What to make of Trump's bromance with Putin? 1:03:45 Trump isn't Putin's agent, he's Putin's ally 1:05:00 Tulsi Gabbard acts as an "agent of influence" for the Kremlin 1:06:15 Trump has ordered intel & DOJ to cook up investigation of Obama 1:07:30 Is Marco Rubio the only hope for the intel community? 1:09:00 Rubio put his manhood in a blind trust and gave Trump the key 1:10:30 Allied intel agencies can't trust anyone in Trump's cabinet 1:13:30 The CIA is not allowed to recruit foreign journalists 1:15:00 The overlap between journalism and spycraft 1:17:45 The CIA is not at all like what you see in the movies 1:20:00 Has the CIA penetrated China the same way they have Russia? 1:21:45 The CIA built a network of agents in China, but they were caught 1:24:15 Ratcliffe fired and exposed the agents recruited during Biden's tenure 1:25:15 DOGE staffers are huge targets for Chinese intel 1:27:30 Chinese intel vs Russian intel 1:28:45 China wants to project their surveillance state into the U.S. 1:30:15 Is the CIA as forward leaning in cyber as the NSA? 1:32:30 William Burns understood the CIA's mission best 1:34:15 Which CIA directors would have warned the world of Russian invasion? 1:37:00 Why does the CIA fight the release of the JFK files? 1:40:45 Conspiracy theories could contribute to the death of democracy 1:42:00 CIA afraid of their Oswald ties? 1:44:00 The CIA didn't kill Kennedy 1:45:15 Chuck's thoughts on interview with Tim Weiner 1:46:45 Colts have been in Indy longer than they were in Baltimore 1:48:00 Mariano Rivera tears his achilles 1:49:00 Nats win 2 out of 3 against Giants 1:51:15 Ask Chuck 1:51:30 How did the U.S. and E.U. drift apart diplomatically? 1:57:15 How was Trump's mental decline been missed by media 1:59:15 How should Democrats fight back against redistricting? 2:00:30 How do you know so much about individual districts?
As global crises and US domestic reckonings intensify, the New York Community Commission on Reparations Remedies met this week at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, drawing attention to the urgent need to reimagine repair—not merely as restitution, but as a process of decolonization and rehumanization in a fractured United States and world. Reparations is not simply (or even primarily) about monetary compensation, but about dismantling systems of harm and colonization that still define the American state and the world system out of which it emerged and which it anchors.Literal and figurative disasters persist around the globe. Forces in the US intensify the ongoing Cold Civil War—fractured by ideological extremism, geopolitical escalations like Israel's bombing of Iran and China's projection of its Navy Aircraft Carriers into the Pacific, and performative nationalism seen in spectacles like the Trump Army Parade in Washington, DC, among others. But resistance rises. Federal District Court Judge Charles Breyer's ruling against the federalization of the California National Guard by the Trump Administration and thousands of “No More Kings” rallies across the country present formal and organic resistance in a darkening US political landscape. The 100th anniversary of the Schomburg Center gives us a moments to reinforce the fact that we must search our collective memory in order to strengthen our vision of a different country and make better decisions for how to engage politically.JOIN KNARRATIVE: https://www.knarrative.com it's the only way to get into #Knubia, where these classes areheld live with a live chat.To shop Go to:TheGlobalMajorityMore from us:Knarrative Twitter: https://twitter.com/knarrative_Knarrative Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/knarrative/In Class with Carr Twitter: https://twitter.com/inclasswithcarrSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The passing of James Earl Carter Jr. [1924-2024] marks the close of not only a century-long life but the end of an entire political, cultural, and social era. Carter, the 39th President of the United States, was an “outlier” in the US Social Structure—an embodiment of the deeply rooted laboring class from the neo-Confederate South. His worldview and political philosophy were shaped by a unique fusion of white and Africana Southern Governance formations, creating a distinct approach to power and Cultural Meaning-Making. This blend, forged in the crucible of his upbringing, informed a political career that began in the Georgia legislature, ascended through the statehouse, reached the pinnacle of the US presidency, and then extended into more than four decades of global peacemaking at both the most intimate and the highest levels of engagement, visibility and diplomacy. In many respects, Carter's life reflects the most aspirational elements of a white nationalist American politics, one that also embraced a deep commitment to universal human rights and dignity. His election marked both the zenith and the limits of the federal electoral expression of a generation's struggle for human rights, achieved through the democratic electoral process. His electoral defeat, however, marked a watershed moment in the rhythm of "whitelash" that has shaped the electoral politics of every federal American election cycle since the 1850s and has triumphed in the decades since his defeat—a relentless white Cold Civil War between progress and reaction, our common humanity and its open enemies.JOIN KNARRATIVE: https://www.knarrative.com it's the only way to get into #Knubia, where these classes areheld live with a live chat.To shop Go to:TheGlobalMajorityMore from us:Knarrative Twitter: https://twitter.com/knarrative_Knarrative Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/knarrative/In Class with Carr Twitter: https://twitter.com/inclasswithcarrSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Cutting Through the Chaos with Wallace Garneau – Some argue that we are in a cold war with China. Still, the difference between the Cold War and what is going on now is that the Soviet Union could never make serious ideological and political inroads into the United States. In contrast, China has gained the ability to censor our mainstream media by denying them access to the Chinese market unless they...

This episode is about the pro-Palestine protest at the universities/colleges in America and the ideological civil war we are currently in.
Tom Hagy interviews jury and trial expert Tara Trask about picking juries in an age of misinformation, general distrust, tribalism, unleashed social media warriors, flamers, and propagandists, and unorthodox legal strategies that seem to unfold on a daily basis. All of these conditions began to accelerate in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election in which Donald Trump prevailed over Hillary Clinton, continued to heat up in Trump's race against then-candidate Joe Biden, culminated in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capital, and continues to blot out the sun amid civil and criminal actions against the former president and some of his supporters and colleagues as the 2024 election roars at us like a freight train. In this episode we ask: How does what some have called a Cold Civil War affect our ability to listen and decide objectively when presented with arguments and evidence in court? How much increased bias, skepticism, and hostility for institutions -- from courts to corporations to witnesses -- do people carry into the jury box? Tara Trask is a nationally recognized author and lecturer on juror psychology and other trial science topics. As President of Trask Consulting, a boutique litigation strategy, jury research and trial consulting firm with offices in San Francisco, Houston and New York, Tara focuses on civil litigation with an emphasis on complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property, antitrust, securities, breach of contract, and fraud. She has assisted plaintiffs and defendants in products liability, insurance, and oil and gas matters, and has extensive experience assisting institutions and individuals in matters involving regulatory enforcement and white-collar defense. *******This podcast is the audio companion to the Journal of Emerging Issues in Litigation. Our discussion of the Cold Civil War continues with another way of comparing the sides. Many of the policies President Trump presented can save red states. The policies the Left sponsors are killing them. While I hope he will work on adding some godly humility and recognition of humanity to his message delivery, President Trump is absolutely correct that we cannot allow illegal immigration to continue as the anchor the left has tied around the country's neck. We are a debtor nation and cannot support the world on our backs alone. So, why is there a Bill in IDAHO of all places to give “restricted” driver's licenses to illegal immigrants? President Trump had zero kind words for the Party of Karl Rove and the Bushes. Why are we seeing Nikki Haley at CPAC? Austin, Texas is very predictably losing cops at record rates just as anyone who watched Seattle, Portland and San Francisco fall to ruin knew would happen; President Trump, of course, wants the defund movement reversed. Black kids at a school beat, captured and drug white kids out and forced them to pledge allegiance to Black Lives Matter, Inc., that is 100% on the Democrats and the Mockingbirds. President Trump would once again block Critical Race Theory and the lies of gender ideology from being further inserted into American society. For all the good the President plans, I pray the Lord will touch him with humility. For, as smart as he is to say it, and as true as it is in the hearts of many, Donald Trump is not our justice or our retribution. God alone is that. I pray President Trump will humble himself, let The Holy Spirit speak and give glory to God. I want that because we need a fighter like Trump, but we don't need any idols. What does God say? Deuteronomy 32:3535 Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand,And the things to come hasten upon them.'1 Peter 5:1-3“To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” President Trump: "We had a Republican Party that was ruled by freaks, neo-cons, globalists, open borders zealots and fools. But we are never going back to the party of Paul Ryan, Karl Rove and Jeb Bush."Idaho committee advances bill creating restricted driver's license for undocumented residents; Divided transportation committee took unusual step of sending Senate Bill 1081 to Senate floor without a do-pass recommendation attachedPresident Trump Lays Out His Mass Deportation Plan: "Under my leadership, we will use all necessary state, local, federal and military resources to carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American history." Leonard Leo is an American legal activist who has done more than any other person to shift the United States Supreme Court to the political right. Pivotal in the selection and confirmation of all six conservative judges currently sitting on the Court, Leo could be seen as ground zero for the Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which has jeopardised abortion rights in the US. The Supreme Court, whose role it is to ensure that legislation passed by Congress is constitutional, is increasingly becoming the final word in US political life. Therefore, the liberal-conservative balance of the nine judges sitting on it is, other than control of the White House, the most visceral and important litmus test for which side is winning America's so-called culture war, or as comedian Bill Maher recently put it, the “Cold Civil War”.My guest for this conversation is Ken Vogel, who writes for the New York Times, and primarily investigates the influence of big money in his country's politics. He is the author of a recent exposé of Leonard Leo, which you can read online.

Are We in a Cold Civil War? American Thought Leaders from EpochTV. American Thought Leaders Are We in a Cold Civil War?: David Reaboi on ‘Elite Mentality,' Concepts of Justice, and the Left's ‘Self-Radicalizing Ice Cream Cone' Oct 05 2022 On this episode of American Thought Leaders, I sat down with Claremont Institute fellow David Reaboi at the National Conservatism Conference in Florida to discuss the broader impact that progressive ideology is having on America. “We're seeing the necessary consequence of, let's say, ‘radical left thought' over the last 50 years really in full bloom,” says Reaboi. “We're living in a place now, or an America now, where the most grave threat to our lives and liberties come not from a foreign country, but from our own government.” We discuss a host of topics, from the roots of conspiracy theories, to the redefining of the concept of justice, to the pitfalls of urban planning. “The conservative movement needs to sit down and address what urbanism looks like in a way that is not a kind-of free-market, post-Cold War, fundamentalist libertarian, free for all … Walgreens and Starbucks and Orangetheory lining the streets of every city,” says Reaboi. On This Episode:NATURAL DISASTERS RUIN THE GENDER NARRATIVEThe national narrative regarding gender has morphed and then radicalized over the past 50 years. We have folks who seem to embrace a full egalitarian relationship between men and women. During hurricane Ian, though, I noticed women were mostly doing the hard work of caring for the hurting while men were out sandbagging, rescuing in boats, repairing power lines and cleaning sewers. When progressive gender ideology bumped up against reality that God designed, reality won. There are beautiful differences between men and women. We need each other. Let's honor that.LEFTISM WOKE-ISM CONTINUES TO BUILD ITS RELIGIOUS DOCTRINEI've been establishing for years that Leftist Progressivism is a RELIGION – not a political ideology. It has its own origin story, fall story, and plan of salvation/redemption. It has its own symbols and creedal/doctrinal statements.Recently, I noticed that their art has taken on the quality of 90s Christian art. It stopped caring about being good and primarily now cares about just making a point in favor of the religion.I noticed ANOTHER way progressive Leftism is forming its theology. I'll tell you about it.ABORTION AND TWO SENATE RACESThe Republican running for governor in Arizona, I think, is sort of kook, but she gave a MODEL answer recently about abortion from which pro-life people can learn a lot. I'll play the audio. Additionally, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia is being accused of paying for an abortion in the past. I'll walk through the scant details and ethics surrounding his support.COLD CIVIL WAR IS GETTING HOTTERI've been saying for almost 7 years that the US is in a “Cold Civil War.” We hate each other – but we're not hurting each other. Recently, though, an 84-year-old woman canvassing for a pro-life cause was shot in Michigan. Cayler Ellingson was killed in the Dakotas, and his killer said Cayler was a “Republican extremist.” I desperately want to find a way to cool down the country's temper and tenor.RELIGIOUS FREEDOM UPDATESThe Supreme Court will hear a case where a Christian web designer wants to be free not to take on business for gay weddings. Her argument is iron clad, and I expect her to win – a GIGANTIC victory for religious liberty over the regime of sexual identity being the chief purpose of humanity. On this episode of American Thought Leaders, I sat down with Claremont Institute fellow David Reaboi at the National Conservatism Conference in Florida to discuss the broader impact that progressive ideology is having on America. On This Episode: NATURAL DISASTERS RUIN THE GENDER NARRATIVE The national narrative regarding gender has morphed and then radicalized over the past 50 years. Let's honor that. LEFTISM WOKE-ISM CONTINUES TO BUILD ITS RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE I've been establishing for years that Leftist Progressivism is a RELIGION – not a political ideology. It has its own origin story, fall story, and plan of salvation/redemption. It has its own symbols and creedal/doctrinal statements. Recently, I noticed that their art has taken on the quality of 90s Christian art. It stopped caring about being good and primarily now cares about just making a point in favor of the religion. I noticed ANOTHER way progressive Leftism is forming its theology. I'll tell you about it. ABORTION AND TWO SENATE RACES The Republican running for governor in Arizona, I think, is sort of kook, but she gave a MODEL answer recently about abortion from which pro-life people can learn a lot. I'll play the audio. Additionally, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia is being accused of paying for an abortion in the past. I'll walk through the scant details and ethics surrounding his support. COLD CIVIL WAR IS GETTING HOTTER I've been saying for almost 7 years that the US is in a “Cold Civil War.” We hate each other – but we're not hurting each other. Recently, though, an 84-year-old woman canvassing for a pro-life cause was shot in Michigan. Cayler Ellingson was killed in the Dakotas, and his killer said Cayler was a “Republican extremist.” I desperately want to find a way to cool down the country's temper and tenor. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM UPDATES The Supreme Court will hear a case where a Christian web designer wants to be free not to take on business for gay weddings. Her argument is iron clad, and I expect her to win – a GIGANTIC victory for religious liberty over the regime of sexual identity being the chief purpose of humanity. Additionally, CVS recently fired a Catholic woman for wanting an accommodation in not fulfilling prescription for abortion bills. The odd part is that they GRANTED the accommodation for four years. Russ Vought says we are in the midst of a cold civil war. And one of the reason we are so divided is that 75 million of us are facing the reality that the national security apparatus is weaponized against us and considering us domestic terrorists. He says Joe Biden needs to take the strategy of speaking less to the American people, because it just creates confusion every time he opens his mouth. The Center for Renewing America has filed two complaints with the IRS against Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife, Priscilla Chan, who donated $400 million to intervene in the 2020 election. Matthew 5:21-26 If there is a scripture passage that is timely and speaks into our experiences today, it is Matthew 5:21-26. When I started this sermon series back in May, I introduced to you a diagram Jim Belcher used in his book, Cold Civil War. For Belcher, the center of his diagram is a political ideal where love of neighbor and the value of human dignity are foundational. What we have seen over the past decade is four different political The post “Murder in the Heart” appeared first on Meadowbrooke Church.
This week I speak with author and veteran Matt Lohmeier on the topics covered in his book "Irresistible Revolution: Marxism's Goal of Conquest and the Unmaking of the American Military." This conversation overviews the history and methods of Marxists in Academica and other areas of society, with stories and anecdotes from Matt's story as well as my own. Many of society's problems as of late can be traced back to cultural Marxism, which subversively spreads within large institutions like the arts, academia, and now the military. This is a very important conversation, as things have gotten so bad that it may be "too late," and we may be experiencing an American "cold civil war." Carl is a brother from another mother and I want him to adopt me as his kid. I love the way he thinks through tough issues and refuses to be stuffed into some ideological box. In this conversation, we talk about all the hard stuff in the race conversation: critical theory, systemic racism, pros and cons in multiethnic churches, the “Cold Civil War” between achievers and non-achievers in the African American community, the 400 years of collective trauma that black people experience, white privilege, whiteness, and many other things. No matter where you land on these controversial issues, I think you'll consider Carl to be a humble, thoughtful, and seasoned voice. Dr. Carl Ellis, Jr. is Provost's Professor of Theology and Culture, Assistant to the Chancellor, and Senior Fellow of the African American Leadership Initiative at Reformed Theological Seminary. From 1979 to 1989, Carl served as the Assistant Pastor of Forest Park Community Church in Baltimore, MD, served on faculty at Chesapeake Theological Seminary, and served as a seminar instructor for Prison Fellowship where he developed and taught “in-prison” and “in-community” seminars for inmates and community volunteers. Between 1986 and 2009, Carl served as an adjunct faculty member at the Center for Urban Theological Studies (C.U.T.S.), and as Dean of Intercultural Studies at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Carl was recently the Associate Pastor for Cultural Apologetics at New City Fellowship. Dr. Ellis studied under Francis Schaeffer at LÁbri in Hermoz sur Olon', Switzerland, completed his MAR (Theology) at Westminster Theological Seminary, and holds a D.Phil. from Oxford Graduate School. –––––– EVENTS Theology in the Raw Conference - Exiles in Babylon At the Theology in the Raw conference, we will be challenged to think like exiles about race, sexuality, gender, critical race theory, hell, transgender identities, climate change, creation care, American politics, and what it means to love your democratic or republican neighbor as yourself.
