On this week's show, The YP's football writing team of Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall join host Mark Singleton to discuss the latest news from the Yorkshire football scene. They start with assessing the race for automatic promotion in the Championship, in particular Sheffield United's credentials of securing a top-two finish, as they battle it out with Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and Burnley. Elsewhere, it is the automatic promotion aspirations of Doncaster Rovers that come under the spotlight in League Two, Grant McCann's side letting a two-goal lead slip at the weekend against Swindon Town, although they still retained a place in the automatic promotion top three spots. They also discuss the sacking of Michael Duff by Huddersfield Town in the wake of their 1-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers, a result which saw them drop out of the play-off positions. Was owner Kevin Nagle right to make a chance in the dugout, or was he too hasty? Also, the writers choose their team and player of the week. Please note, this podcast was recorded BEFORE Barnsley sacked head coach Darrell Clarke and Leeds United's 2-0 Championship win over Millwall on Wednesday night.

In today's final hour, Giordano leads off by playing back the questioning portion of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney's press conference. Kenney faces tough questions from reporters after exclaiming after a horrific July 4th incident that he no longer wants to be Mayor. The Mayor renounces the statement, explaining his love for the city, but refuses to take any accountability for his role in the heightened violence in the city. Mayor Kenney doubles down on guns, and scoffs when reporters ask about suggestions made by council members including President Darrell Clarke and Councilwoman Cherelle Parker, who had a phone conversation with the Mayor. Then, Dom welcomes in the aforementioned Councilwoman Cherelle Parker, who tells about the phone call she had with Mayor Jim Kenney following comments he made about no longer wanting to be Mayor, telling that she and other Councilmembers see a real problem here when it comes to safety and policing. In a press conference yesterday, Parker and other members of Council pushed forward a multi-point plan suggesting changes to policing, including a return of a constitutionally-friendly version of Stop and Frisk and the hard prosecution of illegal firearms. Parker tells what she hopes to see change in the City, and explains who she believes is behind the relentless push for radical reformation that has led us down this path. Today we are joined by one of the best young English managers in the game, Darrell Clarke. Despite making nearly 500 appearances as a player Clarke is best known as a successful manager at Salisbury City and Bristol Rovers. Since taking over Salisbury City as a player-manager in 2010, Clarke has led his clubs to four different promotions. He did this twice with Salisbury City in non-league football and twice with Bristol Rovers. He has a total record of 189 wins 54 draws and 123 losses, so a very good record indeed, he's done all this before turning 42. He is currently a free agent and I'd be shocked if he doesn't land a job this summer. In our episode Clarke discusses: why he turned down a job at Leeds, his thoughts on the sporting director model, how he manages players, the psyche of a coaching during a relegation fight and what he told his team at halftime of the last game of a promotion challenge.
