Hawk's interest is procedural. Two actions like that mean two warrants, which means agents went to a federal judge with an affidavit and established probable cause, both that crimes likely occurred and that evidence of them would likely be found in those specific places. That is a meaningful threshold, and it is not a finding of guilt. The open question is jurisdiction. Sexual assault is generally prosecuted by states. Federal involvement usually points to something crossing state lines, and the reporting so far does not explain which theory applies here. Hawk also notes the timing and the current posture of the Justice Department, which is worth holding in mind either way. David talks about the strange overlap between horror and comedy, the power of swearing in jokes, the dark brilliance of friends and collaborators Chris Morris & Armando Iannucci, and the childhood moments that left a lasting mark. His three scars are brilliantly specific and deeply unsettling: a terrifying Star Trek moment in Charlie X, the emotional horror of I'm Sixteen Going on Seventeen from The Sound of Music, and a Doctor Who encounter with the Yeti that sent him hiding behind the sofa. Along the way, the conversation ranges from Doctor Who, Star Trek, and horror fandom to the enduring power of physical media, bad reviews, and why funny things can be terrifying too.To join Scarred Club and get fortnightly bonus episodes, ad-free listening and access to the members forum - sign-up here - https://scarredforlife.supportingcast.fmSend us a voice note on WhatsApp - 07457 404 279Follow us on socials:Scarred For Life - Facebook / InstagramProduction Company - Lock It In StudioAndy Bush - Twitter / InstagramProduced and edited by Nikki Druce @MacabreLondon Hosted on Acast. Most of us have things that we regret, or wish were different in our lives, however it is both our good and bad decisions that mould us into who we are today. A great piece of advice that I was given is to “Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.” Easier said than done. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency!  Here are today's Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Toss Away The ‘Could Haves' and ‘Should Haves' Day: Today is the day that we write down our “could haves” and “should haves” on a piece of paper and then throw that list into the trash or fireplace. Then we make the pledge: “From this day forward, I choose not to live in the past—the past is history that I can't change. I can do something about the present—I choose to live in the present.” Or you can try this, write down these headings on a piece of paper: My Regrets The Role I Played The Effect That The Regret Has On My Life Valuable Lessons That I Have Learned What Will Happen If I Continue To Hold On To The Regret What Will My Life Be Like If I Release The Regret Steps I Can Take To Release The Regret Steps I Can Take To Prevent Myself From Making The Same Mistake/Poor Choice This exercise can take some time, but it can help us to learn from our past and release the regret that we have, so that we can move forward into a healthier space. It is, however, a film with surprisingly solid action, Mark Strong treating absolute filth like a serious spy thriller, and Sacha Baron Cohen pushing every joke past the point of taste and into a kind of horrible inevitability. A few nights ago, I came across a video talking about how going to the grocery store every day could actually change your life. Not because of the groceries. Because of the people. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized I've been doing this for years. I walk into Starbucks instead of using the drive-thru. I stop by my neighborhood grocery store almost every day. I know the people that work there. I say hi. I make conversation. I compliment strangers. I ask people how their day is going. And somewhere along the way, I realized these aren't small moments at all. Maybe this is what life is really about. Not the next dollar. Not the next client. Not the next trip. Not the next thing we're chasing.Maybe it's just being fully present with the people that God puts in front of us today. A smile. A compliment. A conversation. A hug. A shared laugh. A simple hello.I think we spend so much time focused on where we're headed that we miss the beautiful little moments happening all around us. And sometimes those moments are exactly what somebody else needed. Maybe someone hasn't talked to another person in days. Maybe they're carrying something heavy. Maybe they're having the worst week of their life. And maybe… Maybe your energy changes that. Maybe your kindness changes that. Maybe your willingness to stop scrolling, leave the house, and simply connect with another human being changes that.So today, get out into the world. Walk into Starbucks. Go to the grocery store. Compliment someone's shoes. Ask your cashier how they're doing. Smile at people. Love people. Lift people up. Put a little more good energy into the world than you take from it.Because you never know what somebody else is carrying. And you never know… You might be the reason someone has a good day today. ❤️

Letting go of the day-to-day: Tom Schmidt's journey from busser to leader | 073

The Pre-Shift Podcast is back!Tom Schmidt, co-owner of Salt + Smoke BBQ, talks with host D.J. about shifting from hands-on restaurant work to leading an eight-location, 550+ employee business, a transition he says truly began around the fourth location and felt like a “phantom limb” loss of how he measured success. He explains how delegating to partners and leaders—especially co-owner Haley, a director of operations, and later hospitality, HR, finance, and catering roles—enabled growth while preserving culture and “magic,” in part by creating advancement paths for ambitious managers and chefs.Schmidt describes systematizing communication through agenda-driven meetings and cascading updates to stores, and relying on 7shifts Manager Log Books and Shift Feedback to surface real issues and protect culture. He also discusses saying no to new concepts, using forecasting and KPI-based bonuses tied to food, liquor, and labor costs, and shares the ongoing challenge of producing signature cheddar-and-bacon popovers.Key TakeawaysThe Desk Shift Nobody Talks About: Hear Tom's candid account of what it  feels like to trade the floor for a desk — why operators retreat to what they're good at, and why that instinct can stall your growth. The 4-Location Wall: Discover why the jump from one to four restaurants demands a completely different version of you as a leader.Building a Team That Outgrows You: Learn how Tom and co-owner Haley Riley turned retention risk into a growth strategy by creating new leadership roles that gave a path to their best people.Getting Out of Your Own Head: Find out how they cascade decisions from a Wednesday corporate meeting all the way to weekend front-of-house staff — and why Tom credits structured meetings (despite hating them) with keeping eight locations aligned. The Feedback Loop That Builds Trust: Hear how 7shifts' shift feedback tool gives every one of their 550 employees a direct line to the top — and why Tom refuses to filter what comes back.Telling the Story Through Briskets: Understand how Tom connects labor and food cost numbers to something tangible — like seventeen lost briskets a week — to help managers act on the data in front of them.Resources MentionedSalt + Smoke: https://www.saltandsmokebbq.com/Send us Fan Mail

The Government insists the proposed pipeline from the River Shannon to the Greater Dublin Area won't make a "visible day-to-day difference" to water supply and quality in this region. The €6 billion 170-kilometre pipeline, which would begin in the Parteen Basin, would see an average of 2% of the Shannon's average flow abstracted daily. Construction is due to begin in 2028 and conclude in 2032. Speaking in the Dáil, Fianna Fáil Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Niall Collins, doesn't believe there's cause for concern.

I'm joined again by Kyle Willis  from Belay, and we're breaking down exactly what you can hand off to a virtual assistant, how to do it, and what changes when you stop trying to do everything yourself.I share what I'm seeing inside my coaching programs as advisors step into the CEO role—building processes, defining responsibilities, and then hitting that very real question: “Okay, but how do I actually delegate this?”What delegation looks like before, during, and after client meetingsHow I think about handing off prep work, scheduling, and follow-up without losing controlThe 10-80-10 rule and how I use it to stay involved without doing everythingHow I've seen email go from a constant distraction to something I barely touchWhy giving feedback to your assistant is not optional—and how it actually makes everything easierHow to handle the “unexpected” work (NIGOs, paperwork issues, client fires) without it ruining your dayWhy a great assistant is not just support—but a true extension of how you run your businessIf you've been wondering what delegation actually looks like in practice, this episode will give you a clear, realistic picture of how to start.Get the Delegation Guide & Book a Call with BELAY HERE! Check out The First 100 Days Course: The Advisor's Blueprint for a Remarkable Client Experience HERE!Learn more about Asset-Map financial planning software HERE!
