Monitorizar tu podcast mientras grabas puede parecer lo mismo que escucharte, pero en realidad no lo es, y en este episodio de Al otro lado del micrófono me paro a explicar por qué esa diferencia es mucho más importante de lo que parece cuando estás delante de un micrófono. Arranco el capítulo lanzando una pregunta directa: ¿te escuchas cuando grabas tu podcast? Si la respuesta es sí, seguramente hayas entendido lo que quiero decir… pero en realidad la forma correcta de expresarlo sería decir que te monitorizas mientras grabas. Puede parecer un matiz sin importancia, pero cuando hablamos de producción de audio o de podcasting, las palabras importan porque describen exactamente lo que estamos haciendo. En este nuevo episodio de la sección Glosario Podcastero, ya en la letra M, intento aclarar esa diferencia entre escuchar y monitorizar. Escuchar implica simplemente oír algo que ya está ocurriendo o que ya ha ocurrido, mientras que monitorizar implica vigilar algo en tiempo real para poder actuar si ocurre cualquier problema. En ambos casos no se trata solo de observar, sino de estar pendiente de algo para intervenir si hace falta. Cuando llevamos este concepto al mundo del podcasting ocurre algo parecido. Si te limitas a escucharte, no puedes cambiar nada porque probablemente estés oyendo algo que ya se ha grabado. Pero si te monitorizas a través de auriculares mientras grabas, entonces sí puedes actuar: acercarte al micrófono si estás demasiado lejos, alejarte si vas a levantar la voz, o corregir cualquier problema antes de que arruine la grabación. También comento cómo esta monitorización no es solo cosa de técnicos o productores. Es verdad que en muchas grabaciones profesionales hay alguien pendiente de todos los aspectos técnicos: niveles de audio, cámaras, altavoces o invitados. Pero eso no significa que la persona que está delante del micrófono pueda olvidarse de esa responsabilidad. Escucharse (o mejor dicho, monitorizarse) también forma parte del trabajo de quien graba el podcast. De hecho, hacerlo puede evitar muchas situaciones incómodas durante una grabación. 1318. Hoy toca opinar sobre el salto al videopodcast. Así, sin adornos. Porque hoy quiero hablar de eso que parece que todo lo mejora, todo lo multiplica y todo lo soluciona… pero que también puede ser la responsable de que tu proyecto acabe desapareciendo. Ya sabéis que los viernes me gusta liberar tensiones y dejaros pensando. Y hoy voy a poner el foco en algo que cada vez veo más: ese salto casi obligatorio al vídeo, como si grabar solo en audio se hubiera quedado corto, como si no fuera suficiente. Emitir tu podcast en vídeo puede traerte visibilidad, claro que sí. Faltaría más. Añades imagen al sonido, entras en otras plataformas, amplías escaparate. Pero la pregunta no es si puede sumar. La pregunta es: ¿puedes sostenerlo? Grabar un podcast únicamente sonoro es relativamente sencillo. Un micrófono dinámico, una sala tranquila, un guión estructurado y un ordenador o grabadora. Poco más. Incluso con invitados presenciales, el salto técnico no es dramático. Y eso tiene una ventaja enorme: puedes mantenerlo en el tiempo. Puedes encontrar tu equilibrio entre inversión de tiempo y una audiencia mínima que justifique seguir.El problema viene cuando decides incorporar vídeo a un proyecto que nació como audio. Y no hablo de una llamada por Zoom con la cámara encendida. Hablo de un videopodcast “hecho y derecho”: varias cámaras, iluminación, set, edición más compleja, planificación visual. Eso multiplica los tiempos de producción y el desgaste. Diez episodios en audio no tienen nada que ver con diez episodios en vídeo. Ni en esfuerzo, ni en coste, ni en presión. Y si esa primera temporada no alcanza la audiencia que esperabas (algo totalmente normal en los primeros meses de vida de un podcast) el golpe anímico es mayor. Además, la cámara cambia la energía. No es lo mismo hablarle al oído a quien te escucha que sentir focos y lentes apuntándote. No todo el mundo quiere exponerse así. Y si empiezas a priorizar cómo te ves por encima de lo que quieres transmitir, el proyecto empieza a resentirse. Y todavía no he entrado en la “otra liga”: la de los clips, la de los primeros tres segundos, la de competir por atención inmediata. Porque cuando entras ahí, ya no compites solo con otros podcast. Compites con todo. Mi reflexión es sencilla: si estás cómodo en audio, piénsatelo bien antes de dar el salto. No porque el vídeo sea malo, sino porque exige mucho más. On today's Bible Answer Man broadcast (10/13/25), Hank discusses Columbus Day, a U.S. holiday that commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas in 1492. In 2020, Columbus Day was the scene of carnage as demonstrators toppled statues of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt in Portland's South Park Block. Moreover, the moniker “Stolen Land” was ominously spray-painted across its concrete base. Protest organizers dubbed the event “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage.” What could possibly motivate American citizens—supposed exemplars of social justice—to behave with such wanton recklessness in a supposed era of “wokeness” and progressive values? In trying to come to grips with this question, Hank was cowed by page after page of Google search results with exclamations that Columbus was a nefarious character—a ruthless money-grubbing, genocidal maniac, who severed hands, raped women, and enslaved gentle people to satisfy white Europeans' lust for gold. One starts to wonder “how can I trust history?” Mary Grabar, author of the book, Debunking Howard Zinn: Exposing the Fake History That Turned a Generation Against America asked this very question. A good deal of what you read on the internet is based on Zinn's historical revisionism. It constitutes a steady diet of poison seeping into the hearts and minds of impressionable children. Grabar exposes the fake history lessons that are systematically turning a new generation of kids against American exceptionalism.

This policy has already decreased traffic congestion, reduced travel times for people of all income brackets traveling into the city, increased business-friendly foot traffic in the city, and raised much needed revenues to improve our public transportation system. We cannot allow the federal government to bully our state into reversing a popular and effective policy, and I ask that you continue doing everything in your power to make sure the policy remains in effect.
