I recently attended an event called "Strength in Diversity" that my friend, Ebenezer Samuel hosted on behalf of Men's Health Magazine. I was skeptical at first because I rarely see diversity efforts that I believe make companies or services better. Typically what I see is virtue signaling, and getting minority faces into content to try an attract business from more people who look like them. When it comes to social causes I believe the most virtuous social cause is doing world class work. It doesn't matter what the people who do that work look like, as long as the effort is always on doing the best work. What was refreshing about the Strength in Diversity initiative is that there are no handouts. It's a mentorship approach to lifting people who come from marginalized communities. And that I can get behind. Today I ask Ebenezer the hard questions in regards to the relevance, merit, and future of diversity efforts in the work place. Biceps are earned not given. The evolution of fitness has seen trends come and go; but one thing has never changed…push-ups, pull-ups, squats and going hard still work. Fran Racioppi is joined by Men's Health Fitness Director Eb Samuel live from the 2023 Sandlot Jax and GORUCK Games to bring fitness back to the basics and dispel the myths of today's fads. Eb started his career as a sports journalist covering the NY Giants biggest headlines, but also creating relationships with players based on his unique approach asking questions about workout routines, not just how they played on the field. On this episode we are joined by Ebenezer Samuel. Ebenezer is a trainer, a writer and the acting fitness director of Men's Health USA. Eb and I obviously have a lot of professional parallels and it was great to really get into fitness in the media, the role of print media in the age of social media; the importance of long term thinking when we're in a position to reshape culture and our thoughts on the nuance of sensational headlines and cover stories.

Eb then reveals basic strategies for those looking to begin their fitness journeys (23:45), also sharing essential exercises and movement patterns for experienced lifters to incorporate in their routines (30:25). The word content gets thrown around a lot when talking about fitness professionals and social media. The idea of content is very vague and can become misconstrued by most the people that are trying to generate it.On today's podcast I invited Fitness Director for Men's Health Magazine, Ebenezer Samuel, to break down the do's and don'ts when it comes to content. At the base of all the Content we produce it ultimately boils down to programming. No one is born knowing the right way to exercise. Various ways of learning how to work out include asking friends for advice, watching videos on social media, listening to podcasts (like this one) or purchasing a fitness-based magazine. Magazines can be a great resource for learning proper exercise or nutrition strategies, but not all magazines are the same; some provide helpful, evidence-based guidance while others are full of ads and promotions for various supplements. Ebenezer Samuel has always liked to exercise which led to a career as a sports reporter covering teams in the New York City area. However, he found himself drawn to his passion for fitness; now he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and works as the Fitness Director for Men's Health Magazine. On this episode of All About Fitness, Ebenezer shares how he turned his hobby into his career, in addition, we discuss what equipment and trends will shape fitness in 2021. This is an insightful and thought-provoking discussion with someone who helps create the trends that make us sweat. Of 700,000 villages in India, 600,000 have no Christian presence at all. Our VOM Radio guest is answering God’s call to change that. This week we’ll learn how Ebenezer Samuel and VOM partner Serve India Ministries are training pastors and church planters to go into those villages all over India, in spite of persecution and increasing government animosity toward Christians. You’ll hear how VOM is helping strengthen the Indian church, and how you can pray for our Christian brothers and sisters and for the entire nation of India.
