Is nationalism always bad—or does the Bible have a more nuanced view of nations, borders, and political life? In this fascinating episode, Israeli philosopher Yoram Hazony joins Dru Johnson to explore the political vision of the Old Testament, from the Table of Nations in Genesis to the prophetic hope of nations learning from Israel in peace. Hazony explains how the Bible's anti-empire stance emerges from the stories of Babel, Assyria, and Babylon—and why God's vision for humanity includes independent nations with borders, traditions, and space to seek Him freely. Together they unpack how Israel's kingship, laws, and tribal structure offer a model of checks, balances, and moral limits on power. The conversation also tackles modern questions: What can Christians today learn from biblical nationalism? How does this compare with movements like Christian nationalism in the U.S.? And why does Hazony see so many modern Christian intellectuals missing the Old Testament's political teachings? On today's special edition, I begin by offering my observations on the first three days of war between Israel and Iran. At some point, we need to restore the laws of just war fighting if we are going to defeat savages. We're joined by Yoram Hazony live from Israel for an on-the-ground perspective, as well as thoughts on American and nationalist foreign policy in general. Yoram makes the case that both hyper-interventionists and the new “peace movement” suffer from the same illness of utopianism. True realists and nationalists understand inherent human evil and the need to keep it in check without trying to micromanage the world. To that end, Yoram makes the case for America following Reagan's approach to the Falklands War with Britian and standing up Israel and a long-term bulwark in the region. This is not an exercise in dragging us into war, but quite the contrary: Standing up strong regional allies is the key to protecting our interests without being embroiled in every conflict. We also discuss the spiritual trend in Israel, as the society is becoming more religious than ever. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Wine, art and DJ nights – that's not what comes to mind when you think of a museum. But it's part of the concept behind Fotografiska, led by Chairman Yoram Roth. His goal is to create a place people actively choose to visit in their free time, to unwind, meet friends and have a great time. And that's not easy, because today, museums aren't just competing with each other, they're competing with Netflix, food delivery and the comfort of your own couch. How do you build a membership-based model in a city like Shanghai? How do you find the right spaces for such a complex project? How do you attract people to a museum when they normally wouldn't go to one?We also get a more personal look at Yoram – his background, his mindset and what motivates him.Have a listen!YoramDamianThomasSend us a text
Kencan Dengan Tuhan - Jumat, 16 Mei 2025Bacaan: "Dan kerajaan Yosafat amanlah, karena Allahnya mengaruniakan keamanan kepadanya di segala penjuru. Yosafat memerintah atas Yehuda. Amin. (Dod).Kencan Dengan Tuhan
“More and more Iranian-supported, anti-American, Islamic terrorist cells are established on U.S. soil with the aim of eliminating key American personnel, and eliminating key American institutions and installations. This has been the ayatollah's vision from day one,” says former Ambassador Yoram Ettinger. In the 1980s and 1990s, Ettinger held a number of high-profile positions within Israel's government, from minister of congressional affairs in D.C. to director of its press office. A now retired insider and expert on U.S.–Israel relations, he regularly advises Israel and America's legislators, and produces a weekly newsletter challenging conventional wisdom on Middle East affairs.“The State Department probably still is under the delusion that the U.S. has a choice between Arab countries that abide by human rights and Arab countries that do not abide by human rights,” says Ettinger. “The choice is between pro-American Arab regimes that violate human rights or anti-American Arab regimes that violate human rights.”In this episode, we dive into key realities of the U.S.–Israel relationship that are poorly understood, and the global threat posed by the Iranian regime.“The early pilgrims and the Founding Fathers, to a large extent, viewed themselves as the modern-day chosen people. They viewed this country as the modern-day Promised Land, and they considered the manner in which Moses governed the Jewish people to be the foundation for the system which they established: the separation of powers, and later on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights,” says Ettinger.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Cairo's synagogues shed new light on the transformation Egyptian society and its Jewish community underwent from 1875 to the present. Sacred Places Tell Tales: Jewish Life and Heritage in Modern Cairo (U Pennsylvania Press, 2024) is the previously untold history of Egyptian Jewry and the ways in which Cairo's synagogues historically functioned as active institutions in the social lives of these Jews. Historian Yoram Meital interprets Cairo's synagogues as exquisite storytellers. The synagogues still stand in Cairo, and they shed new light on the social, cultural, and political processes that Egyptian society and the Jews underwent from 1875 to the present. Studying old and new synagogues in the Egyptian capital, their locations, the items they stored, and the range of religious and nonreligious activities they hosted reveals the social heterogeneity and the diverse ways in which modern Jewish sociocultural identity was constructed within Cairo's Sephardi, Ashkenazi, and Karaite communities. Meital contends that studying the congregations and the social services provided in synagogues reveals the local Jewish community's customs, cultural preferences, socioeconomic gaps, and class divisions. Sacred Places Tell Tales narrates not only the past but also the unprecedented transformations that have occurred in recent years in Egypt. While only a handful of Jews live in Egypt, the preservation of Jewish heritage, first and foremost synagogues and cemeteries, enjoy a growing interest in public discourse and popular culture. This new desire to preserve Jewish heritage is inseparable from the ongoing public debate about Egyptian society, its characteristics, and its identity, past and present. By contextualizing Jewish heritage preservation in a longer Egyptian and Jewish history, Meital opens a window into one of the most significant political discussions dividing Egyptian society today. We turn to foreign policy today, first, to discuss the latest effort from Speaker Johnson (R-La.) to push Ukraine funding, unfortunately with the blessing of Trump. I contrast the lack of courage on the Right to influence Trump with the success of the radical Left and Islamic organizations that are successfully taking an anti-Israel president and making him even more diabolically opposed to the Jewish state. We're joined by Yoram Hazony, an Israeli leader in the global national conservatism movement, to summarize the state of affairs in Israel six months after the October 7 attack. He warns that Israel is under attack on multiple fronts and cannot afford to bend to Biden's will. He explains how the radical Left's marriage with Islamic organizations has created a political juggernaut within the Democrat Party. Yoram, who is related to a hostage in Gaza and also has two sons fighting in the IDF, discusses the political sentiments of Israelis on the war when everyone has skin in the game. Is all hope lost for the West? We're joined on today's special show by Israeli political theorist Yoram Hazony, a leader in the national conservatism movement, to update us on Israel as the canary in the coal mine. He warns that the pro-Hamas insurrections we are seeing throughout the West are a continuation of the 2020 Floyd riots, promulgated by the same neo-Marxists seeking to eradicate all political opponents who stand in opposition. We are facing a vicious and intolerant Left that Hazony believes will try to use violence to subvert the 2024 elections. Yoram also updates us on the progress of the war and speaks about the need for Israel to renegotiate its defense agreement with the U.S. so that it becomes more independent from State Department pressure. Finally, he believes that the tragedy in Israel has moved his people toward repentance, such that even the political Left has had an awakening. Is such an awakening possible in America? Yoram answers some intriguing questions such as, does everyone need to be a leader or can they remain as an individual contributor and still be successful?Yoram shares interesting insights like the pitfalls to avoid when trying to build trust and the steps leaders need to take in order to build trust based on his research and proven process. Why should you focus on building trust in the work place? Because employee trust is the cornerstone of a healthy and thriving workplace, fostering an environment where individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered. When employees trust their leaders and colleagues, it cultivates open communication, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. This trust results in increased job satisfaction, higher morale, and a willingness to go above and beyond in their roles. Trust reduces turnover rates, as loyal and content employees are more likely to stay with an organization, ultimately saving on recruitment and training costs. Additionally, a foundation of trust paves the way for innovation and risk-taking, as employees feel safe in expressing their ideas and challenging the status quo. Ultimately, the benefits of employee trust ripple throughout the organization, leading to higher productivity, improved employee well-being, and a stronger competitive edge in the ever-evolving business landscape.//WHEN YOU'RE READY, HERE'S HOW WE CAN HELP YOU//TAKE THE FREE 5-MINUTE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT ASSESSMENThttps://turningthecornerllc.com/hr/employee-engagement/assessment/DOWNLOAD A FREE SELF-ASSESSMENT:https://turningthecornerllc.com/free-assessment/SCHEDULE A CALL WITH A HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANThttps://turningthecornerllc.com/LISTEN TO OUR PODCASTApple Podcasts:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how-i-turned-the-corner/id1637875430Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/2S4sGuOSeXWXIKY7zMW1p5Google Podcast:https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5wb2RldGl6ZS5jb20vcnNzL05lTUhWV0tSSQiHeart Radio:https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-how-i-turned-the-corner-100448118/HIRE KENDRA AS A CONSULTANT OR KEYNOTE SPEAKERhttps://kendraprospero.com/__________Say hello on social:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TurningthecornerllcJobsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TurningTheCornerLLCInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/turning_the_corner/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/turning-the-corner/

Returning to the show, philosopher and scholar Yoram Hazony helps me dissect many of the developments in conservative thought. Yoram's work has been vigorously discussed across both liberal and conservative media, most recently in response to his new book, “Conservatism: A Rediscovery”, where he writes of the “New Right” and America's only way forward. Right now, the union is rattled. Military enlistment is plummeting, marxism is on the rise, and animus is rampant between the left and right. Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” talks to Yoram Hazony about how liberalism has failed, how to save Judeo-Christian values, and why not having religion in schools may have a higher cost than we expected. First, Yoram discusses why it was a mistake to think that societies could be based on freedom alone. Next, Yoram discusses why conservative policy will not be enough to defeat woke culture and how Judeo-Christian values can be brought back in a Democratic way. Finally, Yoram discusses how a focus on secularism has had many unintended consequences. He argues that focusing on the separation of church and state may have severed any ties between the next generation and texts that are responsible for the freedoms that we all have today.
