For the 90th film in the A24 chronology, the A24 Rocks crew discusses the Jersey Shore mystery-thriller Low Tide starring Keean Johnson and Jaeden Martell. Low Tide was distributed in a limited release and certainly didn't create much buzz back in 2019 and is not a film many remember, yet it holds a 72% Critic's Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Pod People, your intrepid hosts both turned 40 this year, and we decided that called for celebration! How are we celebrating on the pod? We each picked one of our all-time favorite horror films to revisit and discuss in depth. First, we discussed Nikki's pick, Alien, and now it's time to go low, low, low, low, low, low, low with Tiffany's pick, Neil Marshall's The Descent (2005). Join us as we discuss why this movie (and Final Destination) made us afraid of following cars hauling damn near anything, the terror of betrayal (especially within female friend groups), cave spelunking gone wrong, the incredible set design that brought these caves to life, lakes of blood...or something like that, and the original ending that was just too bleak to show in theaters in the U.S. Twitter - @HorrorMarginsFacebook - @HorrorInTheMarginsPodcastInstagram - @horrorinthemarginsTikTok - @horrorinthemarginsIf there's a movie you'd like us to review or a creator you'd like us to interview, send us an email at horrorinthemargins@gmail.com. Before Everything Everywhere All At Once, and after Swiss Army Man and the "Turn Down for What" music video, Daniel Scheinert directed a commercially unsuccessful indie film called "The Death of Dick Long." On the 87th A24 film review for A24 on the Rocks, these film reviewers tackle the 2019 doozy of a movie "Skin" starring Jamie Bell and Danielle Macdonald. Skin is loosely based on the true story of Bryon Widner, a neo-nazi who was part of the white supremacist gang called the Vinlanders Social Club. After getting arrested for a horrific act of violence, Bryon meets a woman named Julie who brings her three kids to a Vinlanders Social Club gathering to perform folk music. Bryon falls in love with Julie and (maybe?) finds his conscience, but quickly realizes it isn't so easy to leave the neo-nazi gang that raised him. The A24 Rocks crew discusses the heavy themes of Skin, the short film it's based off of, and if director Guy Nattiv did a good job adapting his short movie into a feature length film.
