There were some good revelatory comments, but Fiona Bruce's questioning exposed each leaders key weakness. Gary Lineker has also been asked to step back from his role on Match of the Day after criticising the Conservatives' small boats immigration plans. Fiona Bruce, the host of BBC's Question Time, has also been criticised for dismissing domestic abuse allegations against Boris Johnson's father as a "one-off". Saturday saw over 100,000 supporters of Scottish independence march through Glasgow. Lesley was there and gives her impressions of what it was like out on the streets and the reflects on the continuing commitment to the cause of the grass roots movement. All of this despite brickbats from some obvious, and some surprising, sources. We both tuned into the latest edition of Question Time, featuring yet again Nigel Farage. We wonder if the shambles we witnessed was simply a show that Fiona Bruce let get out of hand or was it just the spectacle that the producers wanted. It's the 20th anniversary of the return of the Scottish Parliament and Lesley reflects on its achievements, with praise for Labour First Ministers Henry McLeish and Jack McConnell, and the new Scottish social security system. I'm not sure if this makes up for my less than complimentary remarks on Richard Leonard's European election video, or Paul Sweeney's latest podcast gaffe. We try and figure out just why the Tory Party leadership candidates all decided to chuck their hats in the ring next and pick apart the latest European election polls. Spoiler alert, bad news for Labour, but disastrous for the Tories. Sticking with the Euro elections Lesley returns to Catalonia, the plight of the jailed leader of the ERC party Oriol Junqueras, and former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont. Along the way there's also the usual badinage, and maybe a wee mention of football.

At an epic point in the Brexit saga I reflect on the still pivotal role of T May, the less pivotal but important stance of J Corbyn, J Bercow and all MPs: Parliament might want to take us back from the cliff's edge but will the weak but obstinate May be willing to be an instrument of parliament? Can you hear her utter the words " I will negotiate Norway Plus" or "I'll call a referendum" If not-what will happen? As a bonus I watched Fiona Bruce present Question Time.

In this In Conversation, Sarah and Mickey had a ruddy smashing time with Nigella Lawson, Samira Ahmed and Jodie Prenger, chatting about being a cat, the power of the BBC voice, laughing at funerals, combing cows, excellent letters to Newsround, how to talk buzzard and Roger Moore as God. This episode was recorded in front of a live audience at Leicester Square Theatre in September. That means a couple of the plugs are out of date. Obviously we know now that Fiona Bruce got the Question Time job, but we love Samira’s pitching so much it’s staying in. This week’s Private Passions is pretty crowded, with Kirsty Wark, Fiona Bruce, Emily Thornberry and Theresa May all putting in appearances - in the person of Jan Ravens, from the award-winning Radio 4 show Dead Ringers. Jan’s career has been a series of firsts – she was, in 1979, the first female president of the Cambridge Footlights, and the show she directed in Edinburgh went on to win the first ever Perrier Award. She was one of the first women to appear with Jasper Carrott and on Spitting Image, and last year she made her solo Edinburgh debut with her show Difficult Woman. Jan tells Michael how her difficult childhood was transformed by writing and performing at Cambridge, about the battles she’s fought to have women equally represented on comedy shows and discusses the frequently negative perception of women in positions of power. And she demonstrates just how she got inside the voice of Theresa May. Jan’s passion isn’t just for female speaking voices but for singing voices too, and she’s chosen to hear four women singers: Maria Callas, Kathleen Ferrier, Jessye Norman and Barbara Cook.
