Although participants in the project cannot promote a specific presidential candidate, many have close ties to Donald Trump and the Trump 2024 presidential campaign. Is 2024 going to be the year that determines whether the United States remains as the global superpower or whether it truly becomes a declining power surrounded by rising powers, especially China? Lots of strong views in this episode as Brandon Weichert again joins The Bill Walton Show to discuss geopolitics and national security. It's filled with some dire warnings, as well as gallows humor. At one point during the conversation we wondered whether we'd need to put a warning label on the episode: “Beware gloomy scenarios. This is dire, children.” Just some of conversation: The Houthi in Yemen have been lobbing every sort of drone and missile at shipping in the Red Sea. They're also attacking US bases. And of course, we know they're backed by Iran, and we haven't responded, leading us towards a potential 21stCentury Suez Canal crisis. Biden, like his former boss, Obama, very badly wants to have an appeasement or accommodation to make a deal with Iran. There are deep and dark reasons for this that Brandon reveals in detail. If we don't respond, it's likely the Israelis will, leading to a full scale conflagration in the region, drawing in dozens of participants, each with multiple and conflicting interests. From the beginning, the odds of Ukraine defeating Russia were vanishingly small, and it now looks like if they haven't already lost the war, they certainly are not going to win. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company. As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education. Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats' Women's Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy. Ms. Jones is an activist, feminist, and a former collaborator with Paisley Park. Laura “La La” Key is a powerhouse vocalist, livestreamer and active Real Estate professional. She has managed a major live-streaming App and teaches courses in social media promotion. When you think of the all-time greats in Campbell Basketball history, the name Sam Staggers is definitely at the top of the list. The Campbell Hall-of-Famer led the Camels to 71 victories over his final three seasons, a runner-up finish in the 1977 NAIA national tournament, and was named first-team All-American. But Sam's basketball journey was just beginning. He chose Europe over an opportunity with the Harlem Globetrotters and has made Belgium his home ever since. He played professionally for two decades, then moved into the coaching ranks for a dozen years. Aisha K. Staggers had her first major publication, an album review, in The New Haven Register while just a sophomore in high school. Another series of reviews published in The Hartford Courant followed. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company. As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education. Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats' Women's Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy. Ms. Jones is an activist, feminist, and a former collaborator with Paisley Park. Laura “La La” Key is a powerhouse vocalist, livestreamer and active Real Estate professional. She has managed a major live-streaming App and teaches courses in social media promotion. When she is not busy making joke memes, cussing out politicians or cooking amazing gourmet dishes, she travels the globe recording and performing original music with her artist husband. Most recently the pair traveled to Rio de Janerio, Brazil and Porto, Portugal to perform vocal parts in the studio for their latest album release. They discuss spiritual puberty, deconstruction, and crossing the swamp of doubt. "But why I think deconstruction was hard for me in particular was because there's no theology of weakness. There's nothing taught on grief, there's nothing taught on ambiguity. There's nothing taught on being nuanced about life when the Bible speaks a lot about it. So I think that I was taught to think very black and white. And to process that was very difficult. And I didn't want others to feel that and do it alone. And I hope that in some small way, my memoir, in many ways, could help them not feel alone. That's really the goal. To know a friend along the journey that feels that way." Bob Lee made a name for himself in the tech world, as a founder of Cash App. The 43-year-old exec recently move to Florida but was in San Francisco for business. Around 2:30 a.m., Lee calls police saying he had been stabbed. Surveillance footage captures Lee getting out of a car with another man. Quickly, the man drives away and Lee stumbles along Main Street in San Francisco's Rincon Hill neighborhood. When police reach Lee, he has been stabbed three times, including two wounds in his upper left chest. The man driving the car that sped away is identified as 38-year old Nima Momeni, also a tech executive. Texts from Momeni's married sister sent to Lee, show a connection between the two. Nima Momeni reportedly confronted, Lee implying "improper behavior" Momeni was arrested after a nine-day manhunt. Dr. Sam D. Kim is a pastor, author, and ethicist who is offering insight and care into some of the most essential gaps in the mental health conversation. When working in a prestigious position as research fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine at the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Kim began noticing the deep burn-out impacting many healthcare workers.
