Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Kaatwalk Kaatwalk is a Twin Cities-based singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in quiet honesty, emotional presence, and the kind of storytelling that turns everyday moments into something deeply human. Inspired by artists such as Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, and Joni Mitchell, she writes with a reflective voice that values truth over polish and connection over perfection. Her sound moves easily across folk, Americana, indie, and singer-songwriter traditions without being boxed into one genre. At the center of it all is the song: intimate lyrics, stripped-down arrangements, and performances that feel personal, lived-in, and real. Kaatwalk draws from shared experiences, small details, emotional undercurrents, and the moments people often carry quietly. Her music gives those feelings room to breathe. http://www.makingascene.org

Award-winning folk-pop artist Genna Matthew finds the sonic sweet spot between timeless roots influences and dreamy indie-pop hooks. Genna was raised by the vibrant Folk/Amaricana scene of central Virginia. Her bittersweet sound sugarcoats wistful lyrics with honey-smooth vocals. In 2018 she traded the Blue Ridge Mountains for the Spanish coast, where she completed her Masters in Contemporary Music Performance and Production at Berklee's Valencia campus. Now based in Nashville, TN, Genna recently released her first full-length album, Broken Record, which has reached nearly 2 million streams across platforms. Produced by Jake Finch, this record explores a new sonic space that wraps her folk-inspired writing in a lush, indie-pop atmosphere.https://www.instagram.com/gennamatthewhttps://linktr.ee/Gennamatthew?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=4db3553f-e7a4-40f6-9f36-4cb625d80f5fTheme song: “Hollywood Faded' by Luna Halo@treymitchellphotography @feeding_the_senses_unsensoredfacebook.com/profile.php?id=100074368084848www.threads.net/@treymitchellphotographyftsunashville@gmail.com

In this edition of our arts24 music show, Jennifer Ben Brahim chats with one half of French duo Papooz, Ulysse Cottin, as the pair drop their fourth studio album "Resonate". It's a record full of euphoric sounds and melancholic lyrics, for which they enlisted the help of American songwriter Jesse Harris and superstar producer Patrick Wimberly. Ulysse and Armand first met after a chance encounter waiting in line at a Patti Smith concert. Unsurprisingly then, their music is steeped full of classic sounds, from the Beatles to the Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground.

Pearla (Brooklyn-based artist Nicole Rodriguez) makes off-kilter folk-pop that mixes reality and the surreal; in her songs, she builds a sound world through play and exploration. She's written a record about noticing things in the world and questioning her place in it, turning to music to attempt to figure it out. She and her band play new music from their strange and lovely record, 'Oh Glistening Onion, the Nighttime Is Coming', in-studio. - Caryn Havlik Set list: "Ming the Clam", "Unglow The", "Effort" Watch "Ming the Clam": Watch "Unglow The": Watch "Effort":

Nias Miller is a Brooklyn born artist that soaked up all the cultural and musical diversity he was exposed to growing up. You get a sense of that as you listen to the range of his musical expression, broader than most artists one may encounter. He hates being pigeonholed into just one genre and expresses himself comfortably in different ones. His motto is “Defy Classification” and he most certainly does. Be it alternative R&B fused with Jazz, Electronic based Pop, or even acoustic Folk Pop his love of music shines through.

Tim Chiasson of award winning Pop Folk group The East Pointers takes us behind their new single 'Stronger Than You Know'! The new single is a real departure from the band's previous body of work and showcases their undeniable musical chops and reminds listeners that they are stronger than they think even when times get tough. In January this year the band suffered an unimaginable loss with the sudden passing of beloved band member Koady Chaisson. The new music has Koady's musical footprint on it as the band were well into the new EP sessions just prior to his untimely death. Written by Tim Chaisson, Jake Charron, Koady Chaisson, and Colin MacDonald (The Trews) and produced by Derek Hoffman (Arkells, The Trews, Silverstein), the upbeat and decidedly folk / pop tune is on track to reach a wider audience and add to the impressive 20 million career streams they have amassed to date. Six Time MusicNL Nominee Adrian House joins the show to take us behind his new single ‘Changes', as well as its music video! Written nearly five years ago, Adrian was first inspired by the fun, endearing melody of the song, and began writing it after singing his ideas into his handheld voice recorder. With the goal of writing a positive and uplifting track, "Changes" was created as a reminder that everyone goes through hard times, and that accepting the challenges of life will help us make it through. We also discuss an upcoming francophone album Adrian is working on, touring the maritimes by bicycle in 2020, and much more! Ashe drops by Kyle Meredith With… to talk about “Another Man's Jeans” and how it kicks off an era of new music. The singer-songwriter talks about leaning into the '70s folk-pop rock sound on this single, going for a Tarantino vibe with the new music videos, and how all of this new music finds her owning her confidence. Ashe also tells us a bit about her next single, how last year's Ashlyn album was a snapshot of post-divorce and losing her brother, and taking control of her career's direction. Listen to Ashe discuss "Another Man's Jeans," her new '70s inspired era, and more above, or watch the chat via Consequence.
