It's Memorial Day, so Greg & I are having a BBQ breakfast, and knocking off for the day. But I thought you might like a little something to play in the background, if you're grilling breakfast, too. How about something from back when That F-ing Guy was The Former Guy, and a criminal defendant, to boot? Here's how things looked last year, at about this time: David Waldman has had enough grilling and hammocking, back to the microphone! Closing arguments have begun in the People of New York vs. Orange J. Turd, and well, he might not be as easy to flush as one would think standing outside the stall. Once reelected, fake electors plan to fake elections better. The Washington Post buried the Alito upside-down flag story for three years, because who doesn't signal international distress when attacked by passive-aggressive lawn signs? Martha-Ann Alito ran a “novelty flag” up the pole to show reporters she wasn't one to trifle with. Who knows what novelty flag she chose, it would depend on which county fair she bought it at. None of that explains the Alito Pine-Sol® flag at their beach home. In order to understand that, and the fast growing New Apostolic Reformation Christain Nationalist movement, you need not just one, but two comprehensive guides on hand. The Texas GOP platform calls for the Bible in schools, and for Texas dirt to have more of a vote than urban Blacks. Ace KITM Correspondent Rosalyn MacGregor reports on Sarah Leach, a West Michigan newspaper editor who tried to staff a dozen understaffed newsrooms before her employer, Gannett, fired her. Pumping out pink slime isn't just cheaper, but no employees are more tractable than any employees. Ohio Republicans are having fun keeping Joe Biden off the presidential ballot. Governor Mike DeWine might be an Ohio Gop, but as with COVID, he's no idiot.
Tucker Carlson hedges his bets by going full "attacked by a demon." Creepy RFK Jr. would be in charge of vaccines and women's health according to the drivel spewed by Shitler at a campaign rally. The Former Guy also shared a fap-fantasy about Liz Cheney having nine gus aiming at her head. Trump's nasty spawn, Eric and Don, dressed up as garbage in honor of Biden's accurate description of man-baby's inner circle. Adulterer and FOX human-cosplayer Jesse Watters said women secretly pulling the lever for Harris are violating the "sanctity" of marriage. Absolutely nobody is surprised Elon Musk's election canvassing operation is a crap show and very slave labor-esque. A Florida Trump enthusiast was arrested for waving a machete in the air to scare a couple of old ladies that had pro-Kamala Harris signs. Russia is cranking out fake videos to smear the Democrats. And lots more!
Whether or not the rumors are true, MAGA rally attendees delight in wearing adult diapers in support of The Former Guy
As listeners of the pod will know, during major events on Britain we like to fire up the Blanchsignal and invite New Hampshire's & Wales's very own Professor Danny Blanchflower to join us to chew over the latest news. And with the UK General Election now in full swing and the UK economy still largely swinging downwards, we have plenty to talk about. We discuss the party manifestos, the leadership of Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer, Wales Plc, steel-making in Port Talbot and The Former Guy who used to be the President of the United States. You can find Danny, once again, on Twitter/X here: https://twitter.com/D_Blanchflower And the tweet he mentions in the pod here: https://x.com/D_Blanchflower/status/1799934040142713199 As always, you can find the latest from us @hiraethpod on most social media, including Twitter/X here: twitter.com/HiraethPod We hope you find this podcast interesting and useful. Nikki Haley might win New Hampshire but not her own state. Former presidential candidate Puddin' Fingers, AKA Governor DeSantis, blew through piles of cash in the Iowa primary, which he lost. The Former Guy continued to defame E. Jean Carroll during the penalty phase of the defamation trial. SCOTUS did something good when they allowed Biden to remove razor wire from the Texas border. In his stupid concessions speech, wedge-wearing Ron DeSantis included what he thought was a Churchill quote but it turned out to be a line from a 1938 beer ad. Diddler Rep Matt Gaetz blathered something stupid about race, which embarrassed the MAGATS. Pensacola Florida Commissioner Doug Underhill was ordered to pay his own legal bills. Low-functioning MAGAT-TEER Lauren Witzke caterwauled a plea to Shitler to go full dictator. Man-baby's missteps and blunders haven't been covered enough according to what some people are saying. Over 1 million marched in Germany against the rise of a far-right creepy party.
Pundits and analysts are reading the tea leaves in Trump's blowout win in the Iowa caucuses, and it's actually not exactly great news for the Former Guy
Little by little, Donald Trump's political rhetoric is sounding more and more like a wanna-be Dictator. Here is a headline from the New York Times, "After Calling Foes ‘Vermin,' Trump Campaign Warns Its Critics Will Be ‘Crushed' The former president's Veterans Day speech used language similar to the dehumanizing rhetoric wielded by dictators like Hitler and Mussolini." This is from NPR, "What we have witnessed from Trump over the last few weeks is something new," said Robert Jones, founder of the Public Religion Research Institute, or PRRI. "Trump has crossed into the domain of Nazi ideology openly." It's not like the Trump for President Campaign is trying to hide the "Former Guy's" desire to be a 21st-century American Hitler. He makes it clear in every speech and every post. Please take a look at the evolving plans of Project 2025. Or listen to my podcast on 2025. Ian Hoch runs through all the major global news in the "2 o'clock News Bomb!" Then CBS Legal Correspondent Thane Rosenbaum comes on to talk about the latest in the Trump trial in Georgia.
Years ago, Wendy's hit a home run with the “Where's the Beef” campaign, and its star, the octogenarian, Clara Peller. The new Republican Congress's impeachment inquiry begs the same question because it lacks protein (and evidence). It's not a Double-Double, or a Quarter-Pounder, but it is a Whopper. In today's piece, we note My Kevin's Sophie's Choice—his job or our country—and the ridiculousness of the Trump whataboutism that tries to compare the Former Guy with Biden. I hope you'll listen. It's fun!
Reality is a daunting challenge to pathological liar/malignant narcissist, and things are starting to get REAL for the Former Guy. Come along as we dig a little deeper in this short essay.
Bad news... No one is coming to your Biden Country diner to better understand you. Good news! David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are waiting here at KITM, and they care about most of your plights! Is this the end of Trump? Well, for the racketeer Former Guy, it's just the beginning of RICO. Georgia Fulton County DA Fani Willis is set to bring a whole lot of hammers down on Donald Trump, and several of his soon-to-be ex-friends. Georgia prosecutors will prove Trump's team is behind the Coffee County voting machine breach, and that Team Trump knew the Dominion claims were false. Lindsey Graham might not be indicted, but he's always likely to flip anyhow, and naturally Donald would give up any one of them in a heartbeat. Trump's co-conspirators are already starting to turn on each other. Why are so many of Trump's alleged co-conspirators lawyers? Of course, the person who wants to see Donald Trump in jail the most is Donald Trump. If indictments boost Trump in the polls, just think what conviction could do! Leonard Leo, gimme-est of gimme-terians has installed a lot of gimmeterian judges, but his proudest achievement might be Judge Aileen Cannon.
On Wednesday's David Waldman catches up with Greg Dworkin. Actually, we all catch up with Greg, who is way ahead of us on the latest news. OHIO! Voters like freedom and democracy and will vote to protect them. It's funny how many pundits doubted that a year ago. Now, the Gop war on democracy is in retreat, as abolishing abortion turned out to be a bridge too far. Today, Republicans are making excuses and covering their tracks. Tomorrow, they'll be back at it, again. They'll need more than transphobia next time. Back in the day, Glenn Youngkin was elected Governor by transphobes. He'd have a tougher time now. Then again, harassing non-believers has lately become religious freedom. The tide might be turning in Ohio for Joe Biden. Not just because of abortion rights, but because of Ohio's betrayal by the Trump administration. It also turns out that being indicted several times isn't the selling point Donald had hoped for. Prosecuting Donald Trump may have terrible consequences, but they're nothing compared to not prosecuting him. The Former Guy and his Six Co-Conspirators secretly planned, and memoed to overturn Joe Biden's election win. Donald Trump insulting Chris Christie's appearance is like the pot calling the kettle fat.

It is distressing—disorienting, really—to watch the former party of law and order flip the script and attack the FBI, DOJ, and the law enforcement establishment, all on extremely weak and totally political grounds. The Former Guy cries witch hunt, and previously respectable Republicans pick up the pitch forks and torches. Moreover, they have tried in the most undemocratic ways to tilt the playing field to the advantage of their fever dream culture wars, leaving rational thought in their wake. We take a look choices good and bad in today's essay. I hope you'll listen.
Tucker Carlson was forced to fly down to Mar a Lago to sit with a man he despises...because his audience found out that Tucker said some mean things about the Former Guy. The humiliation was beautiful as he had to sit and listen to Trump blather on about how law enforcement types had "tears streaming down their cheeks" at the Manhattan Courthouse, and "nuclear warming"...whatever that is. We have sound. Also, more stupid Republican tricks.minyard.minyardpodcast@gmail.comMusic by David Horton
David Waldman is feeling a little less positive today. That's good, at least when it comes to Covid. President Joe Biden isn't so positive that COVID-19 is such a big deal anymore, at least when it comes to handing out benefits. Republican's actuarial arbitrage comes to a close on Covid, although trading remains brisk on how former the Former Guy could get soon. Not just the GQP, but the FBI and the NYT might also be checking their calendars and their watches wondering when the pressure will finally come down. Alas, Donald isn't going anywhere soon. Once again, we need to reexamine the web of Trump's Russian collusion, from Oleg Deripaska to Paul Manafort, with a long, sad stop at dirtbag Charles McGonigal. George Santos isn't going away as long as his lies keep catching up with him, and they are legion. Kevin McCarthy is being punished and humiliated each moment by Santos, which is sort of his lot in life. So, is George recusing himself from committees a bow to McCarthy's steadfast moral compass, or is he just keeping Kev around a while longer to prolong his agony? Joan McCarter is here to help tear at Republican ruptures, although they are doing just fine on their own. Dems can sit back and enjoy the show.
The best comedy writers in the world couldn't do better making up situations than the Former Guy showing up to deliver a eulogy for one of his biggest supporters. Listen to choice cuts here. After a look at what's happening in our world today, we'll talk about something that affects so many of us. Sadly, it tends to get worse this time of the year. Depression affects everyone, regardless of age, race and financial situation, though I'd guess those struggling are more likely to be depressed--- but not necessarily. Women are more prone to depression, though both genders suffer from bipolar disorder equally. There are other afflictions that often accompany depression, most notably anxiety and bi polar disorder and more. It is an epidemic with no cure in sight. But there is a rising dependency on drugs -- anti depressants. But they're not a cure-all and, in many cases, make the situation worse. Long time listeners of this show know that I've struggled with depression since adolescence. I've had my share of meltdowns on the air, most notably during the Former Guy's reign of terror. But I've been doing much better lately. Today, I'll be joined by my husband, David Sloane, who has suffered from PTSD for decades since he was pulled unconscious from a burning car in the desert some 40 years ago by a stranger who happened upon the crash and saved his life. Well, there is help on the horizon and it's very encouraging as it does not include drugs. We'll have a serious discussion about our depression epidemic and what can be done to help those who are suffering...

The Former Guy who now has a Special Counsel appointed to investigate his potential crimes for Jan 6 and the top secret documents - Mar-A-Lago case held his speech at the golf resort. The final vote counts are being tabulated and the outlook for the 118th Congress is coming into focus. Unfortunately, the Republicans have taken the majority in the House, and Kevin McCarthy is trying his hardest to become Speaker of the House. But the craziest in his caucus-- members of the so-called Freedom Caucus -- are exacting some major concessions from him for their votes. This is not going to be an enjoyable two years on that front. But there's much to speak with Howie Klein about today. The good news is that the Democrats retain control of the Senate and, of course, the White House. The Former Guy, building on his party's dismal performance in the midterms -- and virtually every one of Trump's endorsed candidates evisceration-- decides that now is the perfect time to announce he's running for president again in 2024?!? Nancy Pelosi this afternoon finally announced her intentions... she will remain in Congress, but will not run for re-election to leadership! So it appears she's clearing the way for the new Democratic House leadership triumvirate as Hakim Jeffries, Katherine Clark and Pete Aguilar. Meh. Oh, Steny Hoyer said he'll do what Nancy's doing. Jim Clyburn thinks he'll still have a place in leadership. The Democratic Party braintrust still needs an infusion of new blood..
The former president on the ballot for a second presidential term is bad news for California Republicans — not to mention all the people he's maligned with his racist, sexist, homophobic rhetoric. David Waldman and Greg Dworkin embrace hijinks, eschew shenanigans, as per usual on this Wednesday's KITM: MAGAGA! Perhaps you heard, the Former Guy says he intends not to be former. Mostly, he intends not to be convicted. Either way, not many are convinced... Maybe, Madison Cawthorn. This time, no more Mr. Nice Guy. Believe it or not, someone on Team Trump remembered to file the paperwork. That other Donald Trump in high heels, Kari Lake, might as well run as Trump's running mate, as she hasn't anything else to do. Kari's supporters amassed in the dozen in her support. This time, Republicans might understand what they are in for. The mainstream media seems to, so far. Facebook, however, doesn't want any of your fact-checking. John Fetterman is turning heads in sharp business couture at his new job. Fetterman flipped Pennsylvania by flipping Trump voters. Democrats achieved relative success in the midterms by reminding voters that Republicans are conservative. It's about time Dems acted like they want the job. The Democratic party will try bipartisanship one more time while they can, to address the debt limit.

John Heilemann sits down with the New York Times's Maggie Haberman — the dominant/defining reporter on the Donald Trump beat for the past decade and the author of the instant best-seller Confidence Man — for an epic, two-part episode of the podcast. Haberman discusses her most recent scoop that the Justice Department believes the Former Guy still has classified documents in his possession and how it might increase his degree of legal peril; her long history of covering Trump and what it's taught her about how the outer borough, 1970-80s New York milieu from which he emerged shaped his essential character; what Trump most loves and hates about his media coverage; his performance as a candidate, president, insurrectionist, and potential future criminal defendant — and whether he will run for president again in 2024. Haberman also addresses the criticism that she withheld critical news about Trump for her book; provides an exclusive, never-before-heard audio clip from one of her book interviews with Trump on his handling of Covid; and explains why the Herschel Walker abortion scandal may prove to be a replay of Trump's own Access Hollywood imbroglio. ALT TITLE: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi , Bobby Kennedy & Ashley Babbitt BREAKING Ted Cruz News!! This Just In: Ted Cruz is a dangerous putz!! And so is Lindsey Graham! All evidence points to the fact that he and The Former Guy are gaslighting the country and eagerly anticipating “riots in the streets,” from those white supremacist social justice warriors, the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys and the Pillow Guy. Also, Lady Lindsey is riling up the lady Demwits, with his bill to label them incompetent and unable to make big-girl decisions, all by themselves. It’s Monday in America, time for The World’s Greatest Political Podcast: THE LEFT SHOW! This week, J.M. Once again we're in uncharted territory. 'Unprecedented' is the word that should win the prize for most-invoked over the last five years, and here we are again. A few firsts, as history has been made this week. Almost everything about Trump is unprecedented, including apparently his actions in taking classified documents from the White House when he finally left. The smear campaign against the FBI, DoJ and the AG -- led by the Former Guy-- is also unprecedented, as was Merrick Garland's decision to go before the microphones today to announce that he's asking for the search warrant and the inventory of documents and items seized by the FBI to be unsealed, after Trump incited anger and worse with false claims about the government's actions. As I do whenever there's a legal question of such magnitude, I invited Lisa Graves to join us today to weigh in on history in the making. Lisa Graves, who runs TrueNorthResearch, served in the DoJ as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General under AG Janet Reno during the Clinton administration, and under Richard Ashcroft in the GW Bush administration.
A new week begins, with the hope that Thursday's season finale of the January 6 hearings is a blockbuster that finally shocks the sleepwalking portion of the nation into reality. Much happened since we last spoke, including Joe Manchin's latest act of sabotage against the Democratic Party and the people of this country. (That's what Bernie Sanders called it, and I agree). So, we'll recap some of the latest news, and then welcome DC journalist Mark Leibovich to the show. He spent over a decade at the NY Times, and this year moved to The Atlantic. And his fourth book was just released last week, called "Thank You For Your Servitude: Donald Trump's Washington and the Price of Submission"...
It's hard to find the words to describe the changes in the US, from the onslaught of lies from the Former Guy and his unbalanced followers to a Supreme Court that is willing to ignore precedent and common sense. This week, I've focused on the Dobbs decision that ends a woman's right to choose. I hope you'll give it a listen.
It's Monday. A new week with a whole lot of news, most of it not good at all. Putin's war on Ukraine is raging -- President Zelinsky says many thousands of Ukrainians have been killed, and he needs help from the rest of the world. Inflation continues growing (a global problem not unique to the US) and gas prices keep rising (same thing -- a global problem). The American right is getting scarier by the minute, and they're accusing the left of the evil things they're actually doing. The Former Guy's coup is still ongoing, as the Republicon Party keeps putting the elements in place that will allow them to steal any election going forward. The planet continues warming and scientists can't make the warnings any more stark than they already are: it's now or never! And the Democrats appear to be in really bad shape as the 2022 Midterm season gets underway. How would the executive editor of a major news magazine prioritize what they cover? I'll ask David Dayen when he joins us today. Dayen is executive editor of the American Prospect, a magazine that is online at prospect.org, needs your donations and subscriptions to do their work, but (like this show) is not behind a paywall.

The hits just keep on coming. The RNC, in full capitulation mode, has now deemed the Capitol insurrection “legitimate political discourse.” They can't do enough to support the Former Guy and speed along the road to ruin. This week, we catalogue the new things we've learned about the effort to in Trump's own words, “Overturn the election.” It astonishes, but does not surprise. Hearing is believing, and I hope you'll give it a listen.
I know one F word that I've uttered already numerous times today. I've blurted it out in reaction to the latest idiocy from the Floriduh governor and from The Former Guy and others of their ilk. Here's one tweet that really sums it up today, from @AymanM: "-fmr President admits he wanted to overturn election -vows to pardon insurrectionists -incites racism & protests against Black prosecutors -the FBI acknowledges a series of bomb threat around the country -books being banned in schools. Are we still not alarmed?" I am! It's one of those days, so our friend Dave Johnson (seeingtheforest.com) joins me to get mad or get even... or figure out how to turn it all around!

But it was politics and pandemic, as usual, for Greg Dworkin. Looks like the pandemic situation in FÜBAR (Fahrvergnügen Beyond All Recognition) in Germany (and maybe more of Western Europe, again). Fingers crossed for those COVID antiviral pills, because the horse paste isn't working, and now they have to admit it. Although FOX viewers probably just won't. It's finally time for The Former Guy to appeal the decision in his “executive privilege” case. White people! Amirite? Well, maybe, maybe not. But the important thing is not to admit it's possible to be wrong. The BFD bills are popular. But now that the BIF is done, Joe Manchin wants you to worry that the BBB is inflationary. But “even the liberal” Larry Summers says it's not. As you know, it really burns me up when people don't know their procedure. Especially when it's Members and Congressional reporters. But just because they won't lose their committee seats doesn't mean Republicans who voted for the infrastructure bill won't be stabbed in the back front. But speaking of being burned up, Republicans are in serious danger of overheating in the wake of Virginia's elections. More on the smarmy Coalition Provisional Authority sequel that was Johnny McEntee's (Gesta)PPO operation.
She's the host of “Mueller, She Wrote” and “The Daily Beans,” two of the country's most popular political podcasts. But who is AG? Allison Gill talks to Greg Olear about her origin story: growing up in Ohio and Arizona, studying nuclear submarine propulsion in the U.S. Navy, slinging drinks while doing stand-up and playing in a band, and working for the Department of Veterans Affairs until being “Mulvaneyed” by the Former Guy. Plus: an offshore that's stateside. Yep. We went there. Thanks to a new tell-all book on the Trump presidency, we learn more about the Former Guy than we probably wanted to learn. Also, no matter how progressive-leaning the country is, we're only as progressive as a couple of Senators from small states will allow us to be. So $3.5 Billion is too high for the Human Infrastructure Bill being debated? What would you cut? We'll lay out some of the actual programs contained in the bill. And anti-vax healthcare workers...heroes or assholes? We'll feature a few so you can decide.
On today's podcast, David Frum joins host Charlie Sykes to discuss The Former Guy riding Velociraptors; the debate over vaccines; how Democrats can keep Never Trump voters - and the problem with Bob Woodward's books. Special Guest: David Frum.
You likely have heard that The Former Guy increased his share of the Hispanic vote in the 2020 Presidential election, but have you heard that this was also true for Asian Americans too? Ditto immigrants from the Middle East. Why did immigrants and people of color vote for a candidate who routinely disparaged immigrants and people of color? And what does it have to do with the fact that a large proportion of all of these groups are Christian?Ruben Rosario and Jonathan Tan join the podcast to talk about their recent article in Political Theology, “Making Sense of Minority Christian Voting Trends: Complicating the Liberal/Conservative Binary.” You can find the article here: https://politicaltheology.com/symposium/making-sense-of-minority-christian-voting-trends-complicating-the-liberal-conservative-binary/ Rubén Rosario Rodríguez is Professor of Systematic Theology in the Department of Theological Studies at Saint Louis University. His teaching and research interests range from comparative religious ethics, to theological anthropology, to liberation/political theologies; his most recent publications include Christian Martyrdom and Political Violence (Cambridge University Press, 2017) and Dogmatics After Babel (Westminster John Knox Press, 2018), and he is editor of the T&T Clark Handbook of Political Theology (Bloomsbury/T&T Clark, 2019). Jonathan Y. Tan is The Archbishop Paul J. Hallinan Professor of Catholic Studies at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Tan is the author of Introducing Asian American Studies (Orbis Books, 2008) and Christian Mission among the Peoples of Asia (Orbis Books, 2014). Remember the days before there was a vaccine? Remember the terrifying death tolls reaching into the hundreds of thousands and showing no signs of ending? Then Sherriff Joe came to town and started getting shots in arms and we thought...this is good...we're saved...it's over. If only. If only there wasn't an entire subset of conspiracy-loving nut jobs who put their faith, their lives, and the lives of their families in to the hands of charlatans. People who choose to believe "facts" they find on the internet to justify not getting the shot. Cue the Delta variant and dust off the Death Count graphic because we're back to the bad old days.Ron DeSantis wants to be president, he thinks the best way to the White House is by embracing the Former Guy, coddling up to the conspiracy kooks, and actually threatening schools who want to have their students wear masks. Florida's hospitals are overwhelmed, cases are doubling every week, ICUs have no room, those are the facts. The DeSantis Delusion is quite different. "Everything is sunny in the sunshine state." The other state where things are actually worse? Texas, where Gov. Abbott doesn't see tents being set up outside hospitals to house new patients, no, his big concern? Too many voting drop boxes!Robin and David try to keep their heads from exploding by hosting a truly inspirational young woman, Mana Shooshtari who, at the ripe old age of 21, serves as the Field and Communications Coordinator for Grassroots Democrats HQ grassrootsdems.org. Mana shares her remarkable journey as well as what can and is being done to reach out to and engage young voters.
When Richard Branson's Virgin Space Ship Unity 22 launched into space on Sunday, July 11, it was more than a passion project for one of the world's billionaires. It was emblematic of where we find ourselves, in America and around the globe: engaged in a fight for progress against people who would prefer a return to the past. Capital G Podcast host Greer McVay, shares her enthusiasm for space travel and the miracles of technology and compares it to today's Republican Party, fighting with everything they've got to prevent progress. And in the process, The Former Guy is using his influence to save himself instead of using it to advance the nation or leave a positive mark on the world. The First Friday in June is when those of us who are fortunate enough or paranoid enough to have a Subterranean Safety Bunker - for example, a PhooleOut Shelter - conduct a regularly-scheduled BUNKER INSPECTION, commemorating the Bunker Inspection of 2020, inspired by The Former Guy. It is so pleasant and invigorating to INSPECT THE BUNKER at a reasonably-leisurely pace, comforted that we are in the PhooleOut Shelter because luck favors the prepared, and because nuke-panic nostalgia is FUN, and not necessarily because loud voices supporting wacky conspiracy theories about virus origins are making another superpower itchy about nuclear war a lot lately. Everything will probably be fine! Probably. What do you think upset "the former guy" more today - news that his ban on Facebook will last at least until January 2023... or the fact that the Trump Organization controller will be testifying before the New York special grand jury? By all accounts, the orange one is deeply delusional and might believe it's all moot when he comes back into power in August. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the DemCast family of podcasts.
In the final episode of the #VOTcast, Ryann and Justin are joined by Eliza Orlins, candidate Manhattan District Attorney, to talk about being one of the youngest and most progressive candidates in the race, what the Former Guy should expect if she wins, and how being on Survivor helped her kick-off her campaign. This week the walls closed in a little further on the Former Guy as New York Attorney General ‘Tish James announced her department would be investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity. This significant development comes with sweeping powers for the investigators to root out fraud and spells doom for the former president who fears prison above and beyond all else. Matt Gaetz’s wingman Joel Greenberg pleads guilty to six counts including underage sex trafficking and agrees to flip on Gaetz. Details of a cocaine and hooker fueled party at a Trump defense fundraiser in Orlando adds to the Congressman’s trouble. Finally, Tom Nichols joins Mea Culpa to discuss the GOP’s drift into insanity and authoritarianism.
What to do about Trump's GOP? A serious question as America watches the “Republican” insurrectionists hijack what was once the Grand Old Party under the guidance of the Former Guy, the unlikely arch-Conservative from the stalwart Republican dynasty, daughter of the Former Vice President Dick Cheney, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) willing to put her political career on the line to save the soul of her party and some say democracy. Welcome to The Halli Casser-Jayne Podcast this week all about the threat to democracy the Democratic Party might not be taking seriously enough, if New York Times columnist Thomas Freidman is correct, a spirited conversation on the subject and more between Halli and her partner in politics, former White House correspondent and Newsweek and Time alum, Matthew Cooper. In a frank piece in the New York Times and in an eye-opening exchange with Anderson Cooper on his nightly cable show A360 this week, Friedman warned that President Biden's successful handling of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the passing of his Stimulus Package seems to have lulled many into thinking that Donald Trump and his Big Lie that the election was stolen, which led to the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, would all go away. It hasn't. In fact, Friedman says, the opposite is happening. “We are not OK,” Freidman insists. “America's democracy is in real danger. In fact, we are closer to a political civil war — more than at any other time in our modern history.” You don't want to miss Halli and Matt's discussion. Do they agree? Do you? Can Rep. Lynn Cheney stop the madness that has overtaken her Republican Party? Should she stay in and fight, or leave? There's more. Tune in. You might need a tranquilizer by the time Halli and Matt are done. What to do about Trump's GOP? The fate of Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, the Republican Party. And what's in store for Rudy Giuliani? Is it true that ETTD, as Rick Wilson so famously said? Covid-19, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill and Melinda Gates, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis…there's a lot to get to. Black Lives Matter, they really, really do! America took a collective sigh of relief when justice was served and former cop Derek Chauvin was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd on all counts, the culmination of a trying week in America as we all impatiently waited for the verdict. This week on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show we take a look at the Chauvin trial, its conclusion, and what it means for racism in America. But that's not all. That's just where we being when Halli and her partner in politics, former White House correspondent and Newsweek and Time alum, Matthew Cooper, slice and dice the political news of the week. So is Matt Gaetz and Covid-19, and as always, Floriduh, Floriduh, Floriduh sneaks into our conversation. Is Senator Marco Rubio vulnerable to a challenge by Florida Rep. Val Demings? And what's the back story to the relationship between President Joe Biden and Russia's President Vladimir Putin? Should Israel be allowed to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon? Netanyahu has done a helluva job so far. So why is the U.S. wanting to to stick its nose in? We heard from two former presidents this week. “The Former Guy” granted a full-length interview to Sean Hannity. Does anybody care? Former President George W. Bush gave his Republican Party quite a verbal licking. Yes, there's even more to discuss. Please tune in.Black Lives Matter, they really, really do. It's off to the pokey for Derek Chauvin. President Joe Biden, Vladimir Putin, Ukraine, Majorie Taylor Greene and America First. Yep, there's a lot to get to and here we go. Well....it's a new world and the No Puppet podcast reflects that. The partners waited two weeks for this latest instalment becasue...well...because normal. Sure there was still some politics to discuss but they also talked about current non-political podcasts they're listening to and gave their Netflix recommendations. The Former Guy will forever be referred to as the Former Guy but he factors less and less in this podcast as the calm settles around us all. In the words of John Prine "Ain't Life Grand?"
Our new name for DJT, who was acquitted by a rigged jury of witnesses who were also victims... Also Texas (we love you!) learns just how bad Republican "leadership" is, a letter from Adam Kinzinger's family speaks volumes, we read an old Nazi hunter for Lent, and let Rush Limbaugh's legacy speak for itself.
