Based On True Crime Stories - "Cold Case Investigators Series" by Merrill VaughanFeatured Book - The Happy Paperhanger"   For over five years, an individual has been writing checks that do not have sufficient funds in the accounts. He is able to obtain state driver's licenses that he uses to open checking accounts with just enough money to keep the accounts open. He does not really steal other people's identification; he just makes up the names that he uses. For over five years, he has cost communities in Southern California thousands of dollars and has caused police departments to run in circles trying to catch him.That is, until one police department calls in the Cold Case Investigators to assist them. It is through a serious mistake on the part of the check writer that he is finally caught by one of the private investigators.Born in 1949, Merrill Vaughan spent his formative years in Monrovia and Duarte, California. He graduated from Duarte High School in 1967 and went on to attend Pasadena City College and Citrus Junior College, earning his degree in 1971. Shortly after, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on November 26, 1971, serving at various stateside bases and completing multiple overseas assignments in Thailand, Greece, Hawaii, Germany, Denmark, and Honduras. Merrill retired in June 1993 and transitioned to work with the State of Wyoming's Human Resources Division for three years.Despite facing disabilities that prevented him from returning to work, Merrill remained actively involved with several veterans organizations until his move to New Hampshire in 2004. In his new community of Pittsfield, he engaged in local governance, serving on committees such as the Budget Committee, Master Plan Committee, and as Chair of the Ethics Committee. In 2007, he was appointed as the town representative to the Concord Regional CrimeLine, a position he still holds. Additionally, Merrill became a substitute teacher at the local middle and high school, teaching various subjects until his retirement in 2020. He maintains connections with several former students.In 2008, Merrill pursued a lifelong dream by enrolling at Franklin Pierce University, where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies. He now serves on the Franklin Pierce University Alumni Board of Directors.It was during his teaching career that Merrill began jotting down ideas for a potential short story. Dominic Norris started playing ice hockey at three years old, having his jersey retired in Maryland after having the most points scored in state history (244 points in 58 games). He continued to play in college at Franklin Pierce University and Stevenson University, where he is finishing a master's degree, as well as in Europe. While diving into the deep end a pool, Dominic would sustain a burst fracture in his C7. At MedStar, a Move United member organization in DC, he would be introduced to a variety of adaptive sports. This year, he competed in seating field events at a number of Move United Sanctioned Competitions, including The Hartford Nationals and is aiming to compete at the Paralympic Games in 2028.

Cold Case Investigators: The Prostitute Killer by Merrill VaughanFor years, someone has been killing prostitutes on the same day of the same month; in their business room. However, the first one was a mistake. All of the killings were in the state of California with the exception of one that was in Las Vegas.The first one was just a weary traveler that just wanted a place to sleep for the night before seeing her son and daughter-in-law the next day. For years, the Bakersfield Police Department tried to solve the case but to no avail.Soon, the highly successful Cold Case Investigators, or CCI, were called in to help solve the killing of Denise Robinson. Soon the lead of CCI investigator, Patrick Johnson, a retired U.S. Air Force Security Police Investigator found move victims of what was soon to be called The Prostitute Killer.Even though he eventually thought he knew who did the killings, along with an accomplice, it was not until the killer and accomplice died in a murder-suicide act.I was born in Santa Anna, CA January 3, 194,9 and raised in Monrovia and Duarte, CA. Graduated from Duarte High School in 1967 and Citrus Jr. Collee in 1970. Entered the U. S. Air Force in November 1971, serving in CA, Thailand, FL, NY, Greece, HI, WY, Germany and Honduras. Retired May 31, 1993, with the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring, he moved to Pittsfield, NH where he was a substitute teacher for Pittsfield School District until 2020. He also attended Franklin Pierce University, graduating in 2012 with a degree in General Studies. New Hampshire is famous for our “Citizen Legislature,” where representatives are paid just $100 per year plus mileage for their service. Ideally this deters candidates from running for personal gain. However, state races are gaining more attention from interest groups, and some watchdogs are sounding the alarm over the influence of money in campaigns. Here at Citizens Count, we are dedicated to providing unbiased information about New Hampshire issues and candidates, so we've combed through state campaign finance reports to answer the question: can you “buy” a state representative race in New Hampshire? Our analysis shows that while there is a possibility of outside influence, most state representative races in 2024 didn't flip based on spending. Since then, the New Hampshire Legislature has debated dozens of bills to restrict how businesses and the government store, use, disclose, and delete our personal information. Since then, the popularity of scooters and e-bikes for commuting has continued to grow. Some worry about the safety of these mobility devices however, since their rechargeable lithium-ion batteries can catch fire if improperly built or cared for. Now, the New Hampshire Legislature is considering SB 365, a bill that prohibits sales of electric bicycles, scooters, and lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, that have not been safety certified. Coyotes have long been vilified in New Hampshire and across the country. Generations of farmers learned to despise these predators for ravaging livestock. New Hampshire hunters can target coyotes all year long with no bag limit. Advocates argue that the coyote's bad reputation is unfair, however.
