El navío San Juan Nepomuceno fue uno de los buques más emblemáticos de la Armada española del siglo XVIII. Botado en 1765 en los astilleros de Guarnizo, formó parte de la poderosa escuadra de navíos de línea que defendían los intereses marítimos de España en una época marcada por los grandes enfrentamientos navales entre las potencias europeas. Su nombre quedó grabado para siempre en la historia por la heroica resistencia que ofreció durante la batalla de Trafalgar, donde combatió hasta quedar completamente rodeado por el enemigo. Al mando del San Juan Nepomuceno se encontraba el brigadier Cosme Damián de Churruca, uno de los marinos más brillantes y respetados de su tiempo. Científico, cartógrafo y oficial ejemplar, Churruca representaba el ideal del marino ilustrado: rigor, valentía y sentido del deber. En Trafalgar dirigió a su tripulación con una disciplina férrea y un valor extraordinario, luchando hasta caer mortalmente herido sin rendir el navío, convirtiéndose así en símbolo del honor y la entrega de la Armada española. Para hablar de este proyecto de reconstrucción contaremos con Fernando Cevallos Fresneda, Historiador y presidente de la Asociación para la reconstrucción del San Juan Nepomuceno y Fabio Castaño responsable de comunicación y la persona que está detrás de Legado Hispánico.
