The transfer window has slammed shut, thank goodness. Just before the sash met the sill, though, your favorite Fiorentina podcast idiots convened to talk it over. We covered most of the arrivals--Nicolò Zaniolo, Nicolò Fagioli--and the departures--Jonathan Ikoné, Christian Kouamé, Cristiano Biraghi--but we did record with a day left, so there are a couple of gaps in the record. That wasn't all that happened, though, because there was a real, honest-to-god Serie A game too. We ran through the action in Fiorentina's alternately enjoyable and miserable win over Genoa. And of course, we couldn't let the episode end without a discussion of Rocco Commisso's burner accounts, which is a real thing that a billionaire in his 70s had (has?). Along the way, we found a new nickname for Producer Mike that he really, really likes and learned about McMike's logic-defying Moebius underpants. Thank you to Sport Social Podcast Network for hosting us and to Windchime Weather for the music. Reach out to us on Twitter, Blue Sky, or the website if you're so inclined. Hello Rank Squad! The January transfer window has closed for another year, and Deadline Day threw up a chaotic bundle of stories to sift through as usual. We examine the final days, and the window as a whole to pull out the most intriguing deals that have piqued our attention for a variety of reasons, and discuss why. Then, we broaden the lens - taking a look at the most radical business, the most transformative window, and the most restorative action taken across the Premier League, before Jack rounds things off with a quick flick round some of the weird and wonderful things that happened in Europe more generally. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

It's time for The Truth!Atalanta are currently top of Serie A as we close in on the halfway point of the season. After winning the Europa League last season, the glass ceiling for the club from Bergamo has been well and truly smashed, but can they go one further this year, beat out some giants of the game and claim their first Scudetto? We examine just how a club from a small city north-east of Milan has turned the Italian football landscape upside down, upsetting the traditional order of Italy's biggest clubs and managed to put together an incredible run of continental qualification under Gian Piero Gasperini, all whilst making a gargantuan profit in the meantime. This iteration of Gasperini's disruptors has the potential to be their greatest ever, but can they maintain such blistering league form against the depth of Inzaghi's Inter and a Conte Napoli side that don't have European football to contend with? How has Gasperini turned a bunch of players unwanted elsewhere into one of the best units in the game? And is this finally the time where promise becomes domestic silverware, changing the established order forever? The Truth is somewhere in the middle... And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

We're doing a weird one here, as two-thirds of your favorite podcast idiots are unavailable at the moment. Which ones are missing, and why? Which one's still shrieking unintelligibly into a microphone? Well, you've got to listen to find out. That's how the podcasting business works. The remaining podcast idiot glances at the weird Andrea Barzagli story before running through the Moise Kean deal and looking for clues about the future of Fiorentina's defense, with a little bit of Nicolò Zaniolo chat thrown in for good measure. After that, it's a villainous monologue about what Fiorentina can learn from Italy's performance at the Euros before a glance at how the Viola Primavera break through. Thanks as ever to the Sport Social Podcast Network for hosting us, and to Windchime Weather for the theme music. Also, Nate (the man behind Windchime Weather) has a new project called Friends Friends that's rad as hell. Give it a listen. As usual, get hold of us on the website or on Twitter with any questions. A near-fatal blow to Aston Villa's top 4 prospects as we lose our captain, our confidence and our control in the Premier League race. Unai Emery set the team up more defensively and a nervous mindset overwhelmed Villa's approach. Mistakes, a red card, another gluttony of goals, mixed in with some posturing instead of running back.
