La seguridad vial no entiende de uniformes ni de galones. Bajo esta premisa, el Ejército de Tierra organiza anualmente en León unas jornadas de seguridad vial bajo el lema «Seguridad vial en defensa de todos». Dirigidas por el Teniente Coronel Ángel Tomé, estas sesiones de concienciación extrema se han convertido en un referente nacional de lo que ocurre cuando la disciplina militar, la Unidad Militar de Emergencias (UME), Policía Nacional, la Guardia Civil y la Policía Local de León se unen para recrear, con una fidelidad casi traumática, las consecuencias reales de un siniestro de tráfico. Un simulacro a cañón: la cruda realidad del hospital y el velatorio A diferencia de los cursos civiles convencionales, la representación militar del accidente no maquilla la tragedia. En la base militar de León, actores y cuerpos de rescate escenifican un siniestro con un realismo sobrecogedor. Sobre el asfalto, un actor simula ser un fallecido real, tapado por una manta térmica in situ, hasta que los servicios funerarios de la ciudad lo introducen en el coche fúnebre. Sin embargo, el impacto psicológico más profundo se traslada al teatro de la escuela militar, cuyas 400 plazas se completan. Allí se representa la parte que la sociedad prefiere ignorar: el velatorio en el tanatorio —donde el hijo fallecido dirige un desgarrador monólogo a unos padres que no pueden escucharle— y la dura realidad hospitalaria. La puesta en escena recrea con precisión el ingreso de una persona con lesión medular irreversible, el tratamiento médico de urgencia, la llegada de la Guardia Civil de Tráfico para realizar pruebas de alcohol y drogas al causante y el inevitable. Además se vive un violento enfrentamiento físico e íntimo entre las familias de la víctima y del conductor imprudente. El mito de las "dos horas de margen" Para combatir las falsas creencias sobre el consumo de alcohol, las jornadas incluyen un experimento real con tres voluntarios del ejército. Tras consumir 5 cervezas de tercio en un lapso de apenas 20 minutos, la Agrupación de Tráfico de la Guardia Civil realiza controles periódicos de alcoholemia en aire espirado. El test demuestra en vivo una verdad física ineludible: los niveles de alcohol en sangre se disparan rápidamente y permanecen altos de forma prolongada. Los errores más comunes en la seguridad de los más pequeños Durante las ponencias técnicas, José Lagunar, experto en seguridad vial de Auto FM, impartió una clase magistral sobre Sistemas de Retención Infantil (SRI) dirigida a personal militar y civil. El análisis demostró que, al igual que los civiles, los profesionales de emergencias y del ejército cometen graves errores por desconocimiento técnico en dos variables críticas: 1. El arco antivuelco del Grupo 0+ La inmensa mayoría de los padres primerizos cree que el asa de los portabebés del Grupo 0+ (recién nacidos) sirve únicamente para transportar el capazo con comodidad fuera del coche. Sin embargo, este elemento es una pieza de seguridad pasiva vital. Cuando la silla se instala en el vehículo, el asa debe colocarse en la posición indicada por el fabricante (generalmente apoyada contra el respaldo del asiento trasero). En caso de impacto, esta barra actúa como un arco antivuelco o de anti-retroceso, impidiendo que la silla pivote y golpee al bebé contra el respaldo del asiento del coche. 2. El "truco del móvil" contra el golpe de calor Tras el trágico fallecimiento de un bebé de dos años en Galicia debido a una hipertermia accidental dentro de un coche, los expertos insisten en una pauta física infalible contra los despistes rutinarios. Aunque un conductor estresado o con falta de sueño pueda llegar a sufrir un bloqueo cognitivo y olvidarse de que lleva al niño dormido atrás, en la sociedad actual nadie se olvida de su teléfono móvil durante más de 15 minutos. Colocar el teléfono móvil en el asiento trasero, justo debajo del sistema de retención infantil (SRI), obliga al conductor de forma física a abrir la puerta trasera y mirar la sillita antes de abandonar el vehículo. Buzón del oyente: los límites físicos de las sillas a contramarcha El programa también dio respuesta a una consulta técnica muy común entre padres entusiastas del motor. Fernando Mateos, propietario de tres vehículos (un Porsche 996 Carrera 4S, un BMW 330e G21 y un BMW 128 TI), preguntaba cómo equipar sus coches para su hija de 3 años y 9 meses. Técnicamente, viajar en sentido contrario a la marcha es la forma más segura de proteger el cuello y la columna de un niño. Sin embargo, José Lagunar lanza una advertencia crucial: la sobreprotección inconsciente puede volverse peligrosa si se exceden los límites de homologación de la silla. La regla de oro del chaleco reflectante Para finalizar, las jornadas de León sirvieron para recordar un hábito tan básico como ignorado cuando sufrimos una avería o parada de emergencia. Antes de pensar en encender la baliza luminosa V16 o colocar los triángulos, la primera e indispensable norma de supervivencia es que los chalecos reflectantes deben estar guardados en los compartimentos interiores del habitáculo (guantera o bolsillos de las puertas), nunca en el maletero. El conductor y los ocupantes deben ponerse el chaleco protector obligatoriamente antes de poner un solo pie fuera del vehículo. En una situación de vulnerabilidad en el arcén, la visibilidad es lo único que nos separa del atropello. Como recuerdan los ingenieros militares: en la carretera, al igual que en el frente, reducir las bajas empieza siempre por la autoprotección. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, followed by a subspecialty fellowship in adult reconstructive joint surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is now currently on the medical staff at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery, and Centennial Medical Center.Dr. Kurtz currently serves as the President of the TOA board, as the Chief of Orthopedics at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, on the surgical advisor board for both the custom Conformis knee and hip replacements, and on the OrthoForum board. He has developed both knee and hip replacement implants and holds over 14 patents. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Tennessee Orthopedic Society, and the Vanderbilt Orthopedic Society. He has continued involvement in scientific research throughout his career. He published his study on the effects of bony impingement on range of motion in total hip arthroplasty in 2009 and his patented leg length study in 2011. Además, como es habitual, a pesar de que tratamos temas muy serios que nos afectan de un modo u otro, no perdemos la perspectiva de la ironía y la broma, una parte importante del programa que nos trae el humor de Riki Rizo. In den letzten Jahren wurden 373 ausgedehnte Roentgenquellen in der ROSAT Himmelsdurchmusterung (RASS) als Supernova Ueberreste (SNRs) Kandidaten identifiziert (Busser, 1998). Ein Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit war die genaue Untersuchung und Identifizierung dieser Galaktischen SNR Kandidaten an Hand ihrer Roentgen- und Radiomorphologie. Diese Analyse erlaubte es fuer die untersuchten Objekte, zwischen extragalaktischen Hintergrundsquellen und SNR Kandidaten zu unterscheiden. Rund 16% der 373 Kandidaten (59) stellten sich als wahrscheinliche Galaxien oder Galaxienhaufen heraus, wohingegen sich 99 Kandidaten als unechte Hintergrundsquellen erwiesen. Nachbeobachtungen der besten Kandidaten wurden im Radioband sowie im Roentgenband durchgefuehrt und G38.7-1.4 und G296.7-0.9 als SNRs identifiziert. Neun Objekte wurden als hervorragende Kandidaten und weitere 90 als moegliche SNRs auf Grund ihrer Radio- und Roentgenmorphologie klassifiert. Die restlichen 114 Quellen zeigen kaum Indizien fuer SNRs and wurden deswegen als SNR Kandidaten verworfen. Ein Vergleich dieser Ergebnisse mit denen einer Simulation von Busser zeigt, dass weniger SNR Kandidaten im RASS gefunden wurden als von der Simulation erwartet. Um eine Uebereinstimmung beider Ergebnisse zu erreichen, muss eine hoehere interstellare Dichte, eine geringe Explosionsenergie und eine geringe galaktische SN Rate angenommen werden. Der zweite Teil dieser Arbeit beschreibt die detailierte Untersuchung dreier galaktischer SNRs. XMM-Newton Beobachtung von RCW 103: RCW 103 ist ein schalenfoermiger SNR mit einer kompakten Roentgenquelle im Zentrum. Es ist allerdings noch unklar, ob RCW 103 von einer Supernova (SN) Ia oder einem Kernkollaps SN stammt. Allerdings konnte gezeigt werden, dass RCW 103 in verschiedenen Linienemissionen die gleiche Ausdehnung hat, sowie eine geringe Expansionsgeschwindigkeit leichter Elemente wie z. Bsp. Magnesium aufweist, was fuer Kernkollaps SN erwartet wird. Schliesslich liefert die Existenz einer zentralen Punktquelle, die wahrscheinlich einem Neutronenstern und seinem Begleitstern zuzuordnen ist, ein ueberzeugendes Argument fuer ein Kernkollaps Szenario. XMM-Newton Beobachtung von G21.5-0.9: G21.5-0.9 ist ein dem Krebsnebel aehnlichen SNR mit einer kompakten Roentgenquelle im Zentrum. XMM-Newton Daten zeigen, dass der diffuse Nebel von G21.5-0.9 am besten durch ein Potenzgesetz beschrieben wird, dessen Spektralindex von 1.72 im Zentrum bis 2.43 am Rande des Halos ansteigt. Weder Linienemission noch Randaufhellung konnte im Halo gefunden werden und auch die spaehrische Symnmetrie legen eine Interpretation des aeusseren Halos als eine Ausdehnung des zentralen Synchrotronnebels nahe. ROSAT Beobachtung von G65.3+5.7: Das Roentgenspektrum von G65.3+5.7 zeigt thermische Roentgenemission, welches durch ein Raymond-Smith Model mit einer Durchschnittstemperatur von 0.20 keV und einer geringen Umgebungsdichte von ~0.019~cm^{-3} beschrieben wird. Unter der Annahme einer Entfernung von 1 kpc und unter der Benutzung der Sedov Gleichungen, erhaehlt man ein Alter von ~ 27500 Jahren, eine Explosionsenergie von ~ 0.18 x 10^{51} erg und eine Leuchtkraft L_x ~ 9.9 x 10^{34} erg. Der Radiopulsar PSR J1931+30 befindet sich in G65.3+5.7. Da keine zeitliche Frequenzaenderung bekannt ist, wurde mit Hilfe einer oberen Schranke der Roentgenzaehlrate und unter Annahme eines Spektrums, das dem des Krebsnebels aehnelt, ein Roentgenfluss f_x = 3.93 x 10^{-13} erg~cm^{-2} s^{-1} bestimmt, das einer Leuchtkraft L_x = 4.32 x 10^{32} erg entspricht und folglich einer unteren Schranke des charakteristischen Alters von 1400 Jahren entspricht.
