Władze krajów komunistycznych prześcigały się w kondolencjach i gestach lojalności wobec Moskwy. W Polsce Bolesław Bierut postanowił pójść o krok dalej. Aby wyróżnić się na tle innych państw, zdecydował, że Katowice – robotnicze serce kraju – zostaną przemianowane na Stalinogród. Decyzję wprowadzono błyskawicznie, z pominięciem wielu procedur. Urzędnicy w pośpiechu zmieniali dokumenty i szyldy, a nazwa objęła także całe województwo, które stało się „stalinogrodzkim”. The newly published excellent book in Hebrew about the life and times of Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski (1863-1940) by Rav David Kamenetsky, entitled Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski: Rabban shel Kol Bnei Hagola Volume 2, is a great contribution to our historical understanding both of this great leader and the entire era in which he operated. This second volume covers the years 1910-1930, and - just like the first volume - utilizes the vast repository of Rav Chaim Ozer's own many letters to tell his story using his own words. This meticulously researched work organizes Rav Chaim Ozer's and his correspondent's letters for the first time, allowing the narrative of major events in the Jewish world to be told by the protagonists themselves. Topics include the Katowice conference of Agudas Yisrael in 1912, World War I and its aftermath, the first Knessiah Gedola of Agudas Yisrael in Vienna in 1923, the Vilna Jewish community, the Vaad Hayeshivos & its Dos Vort newspaper, the dispute surrounding the Vilna rabbinate, and many others. Seán O'Sullivan, winner of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) 2024, has been awarded second place and the 2025 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair Prize at the 2024 EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) in Katowice, Poland. Sean (17), a 6th year student at Coláiste Chiaráin, Limerick was recognised by the EUCYS judging panel for his BTYSTE winning project, titled 'VerifyMe: A new approach to authorship attribution in the post-ChatGPT era'. Sean's project considered the challenges of author verification in the context of the significant improvements in Large Language Models (LLMS) like ChatGPT, as the line between human-written and AI-generated text has blurred, leaving academia and industry searching for a reliable method to determine "true" human authorship. At the EUCYS, Sean competed against 250 young scientists aged between 14-20 years old from nearly 40 countries in the EU, as well as guest projects from the United States and beyond. Speaking on his achievement, Seán O'Sullivan said, "It was an honour to travel to Katowice, Poland and represent Ireland at one of the world's most prestigious science fairs. With so many fascinating, important projects on display, I am absolutely thrilled to take home the second place prize at the competition." Mari Cahalane, Head of the BTYSTE, said, "As Ireland's representative at the EUCYS, Seán is an incredible advocate for Ireland's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sector and showcases the very best of the talent that comes from the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition each year. "Here at BT Ireland, we are all incredibly proud of Sean's achievements we would encourage as many students as possible to get their entries in for the BTYSTE 2025 before the deadline for applications closes at the end of the month. Not only will finalists have the chance to showcase their amazing ideas at Ireland's leading school STEM exhibition, BTYSTE, the overall winner will like Seán did this year, will represent Ireland at next year's EUCYS." Applications are open for the BTYSTE 2025 until 5 pm on September 27th and the 2025 Exhibition will take place from January 08-11 in Dublin. To enter, all students need to do is fill out an online application form and simply submit a one-page proposal outlining their idea. Qualified entries will be announced at the end of October and will be showcased at BTYSTE 2025 in January.

She is Adjunct Professor in Urban Design at the University of Florence in Italy and has 20+ years experience in the professional field with a specific focus on public space.  Luisa holds a strong record of academic publications, she has been the recipient of grants and awards, such as the Australia Endeavour Executive Award, and she served as keynote speaker in major international conferences in 30+ countries. She has actively participated in key United Nations summits, such as the Habitat III conference (Quito, 2016), the World Urban Forum (Kuala Lumpur, 2018; Abu Dhabi, 2020; Katowice, 2022) the first UN-Habitat Assembly (Nairobi, 2019) and two High Level Meetings at the UN headquarters in New York (2017, 2022). With her non-profit organization City Space Architecture, that she founded in 2013, she organized and curated conferences, seminars, workshops and exhibitions internationally aimed at promoting public space culture. Under her leadership, City Space Architecture became partner of UN-Habitat and was engaged in the General Assembly of Partners (GAP), Research and Academia Partner Constituent Group. Luisa initiated and is currently leading several public space projects, such as: The Journal of Public Space, the first, interdisciplinary, academic, open access journal entirely dedicated to public space; the Public Space Academy, the first, free, interdisciplinary educational program on public space; the Public Space Museum, a collaborative and transdisciplinary practice on public space; the web-magazine Mastering Public Space, an online and free resource with a curated collection of news on public space from influential and reliable sources.  She is Member of AESOP Thematic group Public Spaces and Urban Cultures, Member of the Board of Experts for the European Prize for Urban Public Space, Expert to the European Commission for the Horizon Europe Program and for the research project 'Public Spaces as Spaces for Citizen Engagement', promoted by the JRC Competence Centre on Participatory and Deliberative Democracy.
