This episode offers a short yet comprehensive overview of subsonic cartridges and their practical applications.
Donald & Alexander Johnston, Ian Hunter, Bessie Williamson, Iain Henderson, John Campbell, Barry MacAffer – quite an illustrious round of people – and all of them special for Laphroaig in their very own way.And today's episode is about Barry MacAffer, who has spent the best part of 13 years working at the distillery and who has now decided to leave Islay, Scotland, the UK and even Europe to start a totally new adventure in South Korea. We had the chance to talk to Barry right at the end of his time at Laphroaig and met a very thoughtful, reflective, open and also entertaining Barry and we felt like we really had a chance to get to know the person behind the role of being Laphroaig's distillery manager.Barry took us along on his journey through the whisky world, starting with growing up on Islay, going through various roles at Laphroaig and now moving on to a totally new endeavour halfway around the world. His memories and anecdotes from along the way make this a wonderful podcast episode and with it, we are quietly saying goodbye to a man who will surely be missed on Islay a lot. But to say it in Barry's words: “It's never a goodbye, it's always ‘see you later'.”
Hunter is joined by Green Top pro Iain Henderson and Ben DeWalt, founder, and senior instructor of Onsight Firearms Training. In this episode they discuss the importance of firearms training. Onsight offers a unique and advanced style of training. It ranges from defensive pistol, defensive shotgun, first aid, or even an AK rifle course. So, whether you are learning from a course at the Green Top Shooting Range or looking to become more educated in something specific, it all starts with signing up for the course. Developing skill and confidence can only be achieved through range time and education. All of these are discussed as well as the responsibility that comes with being a gun owner.

On Wednesday's Rugby Daily, Ann-Marie Donelan brings you news of more positive contract news for Connacht, England's injury crisis deepens ahead of Six Nations and Iain Henderson reflects on New Zealand heartbreak.
Iain Henderson sat down with Aisling O'Reilly at the launch of the return of ALDI's Play Rugby Sticker Competition. It gives every primary school in the country the opportunity to win a €50,000 sports facility makeover by collecting ALDI's Rugby stickers when they spend €25 or more in their local ALDI store.
We talk to three investors whose organizations are launching the $200 million Asia Climate-smart Landscape Fund. Iain Henderson, Managing Director of sustainable finance for ADM Capital Group. Shirin Jamshidi, Director of Investments for Asia and Middle East North Africa for the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and Mark Koppejan, Program Manager for Rabo Foundation in Asia discuss the ins and outs of how this blended finance fund is coming together.
Will Slattery and Luke Fitzgerald are joined by Rúaidhrí O'Connor to discuss Ireland's team selection for the Six Nations finale against Scotland. Iain Henderson, Jack Conan and Mack Hansen all start as Andy Farrell's side look to win a first Six Nations title since 2018 - provided England can do Ireland a favour against France. Meanwhile, Scotland have dropped out-half Finn Russell and have opted for rookie ten Blair Kinghorn. Will that decision come back to haunt Gregor Townsend? Can Ireland win an unlikely Six Nations title? Luke is tipping England beat France anyway... Don't forget to listen to Sinéad Kissane and the Left Wing Live for post-match reaction to the game on Saturday while Luke and Will return for the regular Left Wing show for more rugby discussion and analysis next Wednesday. Ulster Rugby welcomed four players back from the Ireland panel last weekend and all did everything they could to forge their way into Andy Farrell's thinking. Robert Baloucoune's try brace, fellow scorers Nick Timoney and James Hume as well as captain Iain Henderson all played key roles in the easy win over Cardiff. Now the question is whether they'll be facing England or Leinster on a super Saturday? Debating that point as well as looking at the Schools' Cup semi-finals, women's rugby and the Ravenhill atmosphere are Jonathan Bradley and John Dickson, as they join host Gareth Hanna.
On this week's episode of The Left Wing Extra, Will Slattery is joined by Cian Tracey and Rúaidhrí O'Connor to discuss the Ireland team to face France. The big news is Johnny Sexton's injury, which means that Joey Carbery will make his first Six Nations start in Paris. Is Carbery ready for the step up? The lads debate Ireland's chances with a new out-half, whether they have the power to match France and Andy Farrell's decision to name Iain Henderson and Robbie Henshaw on the bench. What have Ireland learned from Japan, facing the All Blacks and does Iain Henderson fit? by Belfast Telegraph Sport
It's Lions Test week and the Ulster Rugby Round Up is back with a rare summer edition to get you through until kick-off. So will he or won't he? The Iain Henderson selection dilemma is the number one talking point and we'll debate the wide range of potential outcomes for the Ulster skipper when Warren Gatland names his side for the first Test against South Africa. We've also got a pair of Ireland internationals to look back at, primarily the four Ulster players who made their international debuts as Robert Baloucoune shot his way to immediate stardom. Listen here as Jonathan Bradley and Michael Sadlier join host Gareth Hanna.
Stuart McAvoy & Matt Williams are back to preview the Lions first real test on the tour of South Africa, an absolutely stacked South Africa 'A' side that features 18 World Cup winners in the squad! The rumours that Alun Wyn Jones could make a miraculous return to the tour and the impact that could have for Iain Henderson is also discussed. Plus, Matt gives his thoughts on the call-up of Marcus Smith as cover for the injured Finn Russell, which meant Johnny Sexton was snubbed yet again by Warren Gatland.Watch highlights of every game from the British & Irish Lions Tour of South Africa on Virgin Media Two. On the latest episode of The Left Wing, Will Slattery and Luke Fitzgerald are joined by Cian Tracey to discuss a crazy day on the Lions Tour. Two positive Covid cases - one in the coaching group and one in the playing squad - left the game against the Sharks in doubt, and although it ultimately went ahead, Warren Gatland was forced to rejig his team. With uncertainty surrounding the players who are currently isolating, the lads discuss the viability of the tour. Luke thinks that it should still go ahead while Cian is concerned that the integrity of the test series could be compromised if key men are ruled out for Covid reasons. The chat then moves on to the players who have impressed, with everyone in agreement that Iain Henderson is in with a great chance of starting the test series while Luke thinks that Elliot Daly could make a charge at 13. The lads finish up by looking back at Ireland's win over Japan and discuss whether Andy Farrell should have given his young guns more game time.
Stuart McAvoy & Matt Williams are back and with the Lions now settled in South Africa the lads reflect on that tour opening win vs the Emirates Lions on Saturday. Plus with the news that Iain Henderson will captain the Lions on Wednesday night vs the Sharks, Stuart and former Ulster head coach Matt discuss the leadership Henderson brings. The continually worrying Covid-19 situation in South Africa is also discussed as at the time of recording (Tuesday morning) rumours were beginning to come out that South Africa's game vs Georgia on Friday was under threat as well as the Lions game on Saturday.Watch highlights of every game from the Lions tour of South Africa on Virgin Media Two. Ulster's season rumbles on relentlessly, with three more Rainbow Cup fixtures left to play. This week, there's a defeat to Munster to look back on and a daunting trip to Leinster to preview. Joining Jonathan Bradley to do that are Michael Sadlier and Richard Mulligan. As well as those fixtures, there's plenty of discussion about Iain Henderson's Lions selection, Ulster's young players, realistic aspirations for next season and the red card law trial.

It's Round 2 in the Guinness Six Nations this weekend and it's a huge set of fixtures! A much-changed Ireland face France at the Aviva on Sunday, England face Italy at Twickenham and will be out with a vengeance after their opening day defeat, while Wales travel to Edinburgh to take on a Scotland side who are surely still buzzing from that win in the Calcutta Cup last weekend. For Ireland, Billy Burns comes in for Johnny Sexton, Jamison Gibson-Park replaces Conor Murray, while Iain Henderson comes in for James Ryan and captains the side.VMTV Rugby commentator Dave McIntyre is joined by rugby correspondent Sinéad Kissane as well as analysts Alan Quinlan and Matt William to dissect the Ireland team news, preview the fixtures in Round 2, and discuss whether or not a relegation system should be introduced to the Six Nations. Please like and subscribe to the podcast to stay up the date! Ireland's Six Nations campaign, of course, got off to a losing start on Sunday and we're here to look at the 21-16 defeat in Wales. Finding himself in the crosshair of much of the post-match debate was Billy Burns, whose last gasp error gave up the final chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. It has helped to spark further discussion over the problem of an aging Johnny Sexton and who should be the successor to the throne. Joining host Gareth Hanna to discuss that, Iain Henderson, the game against France are more are rugby reporting duo Jonathan Bradley and Michael Sadlier.
The Six Nations squad has been announced and with it, the usual, inevitable controversy. Host Gareth Hanna is this week joined by rugby reporting duo Jonathan Bradley and Michael Sadlier to discuss, first up, John Cooney's omission from the panel and what it means for his future on both an international and provincial level. Also not in the squad, of course, was Jacob Stockdale, whose injury is worse than first hopes. As well as that, there are the five players who made the cut to discuss - Rob Herring, Stuart McCloskey, Billy Burns, the uncapped Tom O'Toole and Iain Henderson, returning from injury. Back at Kingspan, there's a whole spate of contract renewals coming out but what of those yet to be announced?
Chelsea have sacked Frank Lampard, with Tuchel set to take over. What did Frank do wrong, besides the losses, the waste of talent and putting the blame on his players? Liverpool scored two goals against Man United and played better than they have done recently but big games come down to the weakest link, or maybe what you thought was your strongest link turning out to have a few cracks? A number of Ireland players have timed their return to fitness nicely ahead of the 2021 Six Nations, including Tadhg Furlong, Dave Kilcoyne, Iain Henderson and James Lowe but the Munster players will have a ton of regrets after taking a 10-0 lead inside 12 mins, dominating possession, and still losing 13-10 to Leinster. Shane Horgan and Andrew Trimble tell us why Munster should still be optimistic and why Leinster should start to heed the warning signs of a slip in form.
In episode 3 of 'Wind Yer Neck In' we welcome Ulster Rugby Club Captain, Irish International and British and Irish Lion, Iain Henderson to the show. Iain talks about his upbringing and how his school and club helped form great habits which he would lean on as he entered and began to excel in professional rugby. Iain reflects on the difficult introduction to professional rugby and how that steep learning curve moulded him into becoming a force within Irish and European Rugby. Iain chats about early experiences in Irish camp as a young man and where and what he was doing when he found out he was selected to go on the British and Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand in 2017. Iain looks back at how he has had to deal with injuries and what his mentality is like to get back on the pitch. As always, we hope you enjoy this chat with one of the sport's biggest characters. Are Ireland really as bad as some pundits are making them out to be or have expectations for Irish rugby just risen to insane heights? Luke Fitzgerald, Will Slattery and Cian Tracey review Ireland's first three games in the Six Nations and wonder if the glass is half-full or half empty. “This isn't the time for an overhaul,” believes Luke. “But it is time to think about the basics that have been the bedrock of this team. The players are wanting it too much at the moment and look a bit tense and are over-running it a bit. They need to figure out how to want it whilst being calm to deliver on things. The lads need to go for a few drinks and just relax a bit.” Two wins over France and Wales and the perspective would start to look very different with Cian pointing out that the team training in Belfast this week will be a welcome change of scene away from the intense bubble of Carton House. The panel also discusses the merits of picking Quinn Roux ahead of Iain Henderson, plus Luke defends his stance on Ulster rugby over the last few years, the abuse he has been getting on social media and why he's sticking to his opinions. Euan's now a team leader at Aberlour, Glenallachie, and Tormore distilleries...and he'll share his story - and his dream to ultimately follow in his father's footsteps - with us. We'll also talk with Phil Brandon, who's beaming like a proud papa this weekend as his Rock Town Distillery in Little Rock, Arkansas celebrates its fifth anniversary. Like any toddler, Rock Town's had some growing pains, too...and Phil discusses them all with us. In the news, Nikka makes the tough decision to replace its entire single malt range with no-age-statement versions because of inventory shortages, a billionaire gets into the whisky business with a new Baltimore distillery, and Heaven Hill is bringing back a revered name in rye whiskies.
Brian joins Ger, Wooly and Cian for the OTB newsround before giving his thoughts on the weekend's rugby. WARNING: Contains graphic Gavin Henson-related anecdote
