1000 Better Stories - A Scottish Communities Climate Action Network Podcast
In this episode, we share a recording of a panel discussion on Farming and Water held at the Groundswell Outreach regenerative farming meet up at the Falkland estate in Fife, last July. The session explores how landscape-level, regenerative management can help us adapt to the climate-induced extremes of floods and droughts. It also touches on the barriers to implementing such an approach. The panel was led by Ian Davis and included Alister Leggatt, Lyn White, and Cees Kamp and Anthony Ellis. This is the second in a short series focusing on flooding and adaptation stories this month. After a long winter … like Game of Thrones winter, the fellas open season 2 (safely from the confines of their respective homes talking over the interwebs) chatting about how the coronavirus affects their lives. It's taken a particular toll on Chad's favorite coffee shop — Blip Roasters. And we talk about how people can help owner Ian Davis save Blip and, perhaps, win a vintage motorcycle to boot. This week's Triple D: What do you call someone — especially during this time of COVID-19 — who spits on groceries or packages?
This week on Brews News Week, Pete and Matt discuss the beers news of the week. Under the microscope this week is: The US Brewers Association is again revisiting the definition of ‘craft', with a view to changing the definition of independence. Some people say that “Craft beer” means anything Boston Beer wants it to. But non-beer products are becoming an increasing part of brewer's portfolios. Stone & Wood co-founder Brad Rogers has started brewing under his own brand, Forest for the Trees, launching with a Saison. Endeavour Brewing launches crowdfunding campaign Pete also pays tribute to Dr Ian Davis, founder of FightMND who died this week after being a campaigner for MND research and a huge inspiration for many. Brewmanity and Cavalier both have beers raising money for this disease. Seek them out this week and have one in Ian's memory.
This week on Radio Brews News Pete and Matt are joined by marketing guru Zoe Ottaway. They discuss Brewdog's recent marketing fail with their “Pink IPA”, the declines faced by Sierra Nevada and what it means for 'classic' craft and why Malt Brewing had to rebrand as Revel. Read more about Ian Davis and donate here.
