Episode # 196 Clare Bowen & Brandon Robert Young aka "Bowen Young" discuss their incredible music, upcoming tour! With haunting and ethereal songs that masterfully delve into the depths of ferocious love, heartbreaking loss and steadfast hope, the debut album, Dangerous Love, by new duo Bowen Young unveils a unique style of music the couple has dubbed “Cinematic Americana.” Bowen Young's timeless debut record created by Clare Bowen and husband Brandon Robert Young is a multi-sensory feast. The music, produced by Sean McConnell, invokes themes painted by the duo's powerfully authentic lyrics and hypnotic harmonies. Clare, the charismatic actress who played Scarlett O'Connor in the popular show Nashville, is known as a ray of sunshine around the world. She is an empath who leads with her heart, able to communicate and translate emotions whether on stage or screen. Born in rural Australia, she moved to Music City in 2012 for the Nashville role and immediately earned respect from the city's musical leaders. She has performed with artists such as Vince Gill, Zac Brown Band, working with Grammy Award winning producers/songwriters T-Bone Burnett, Colin Linden and Buddy Miller, who became her mentors. She toured her eponymous album for sold-out crowds with Brandon in Germany, Australia, the US and UK. The pair also earned a coveted spot on Sugarland's popular “Still the Same Tour” and toured live with the Nashville cast, selling out London's O2 Arena. Brandon, who began singing at age five under the gentle guidance of his mother, had a very different upbringing and path to Nashville. In 2000, he moved from Enfield, CT, to Nashville, where he taught himself to play guitar. He worked as a courier during the day and spent his nights filling empty composition books with song after song. He spent a decade touring with music legend John Hiatt, first as percussionist and background vocalist and eventually becoming one third of The John Hiatt Trio. He worked on three of the famed artist's albums, the last of which was nominated for a Grammy in the Americana category. Brandon has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artists Emmylou Harris, Colin Linden, and Mikky Ekko. Young was also invited by John Carter Cash to finish one of his father's unpublished works for Johnny Cash Forever Words. Brandon's music has been heard in shows such as Shameless. A Million Little Things, and Nashville. It was serendipity that brought Bowen Young together in 2013, when Brandon was a last-minute replacement for Clare's no-show duet partner for her first solo set at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. They immediately discovered they had wonderful chemistry both onstage and off. Brandon proposed to Clare at the Ryman Auditorium during the couple's Grand Ole Opry set in 2015. They were married by John Carter Cash at the Cash Cabin in 2017. Website - https://www.bowenyoung.com/

How To Navigate Tumultuous Seas with the Hopeful Inspiring Music of Toby TobiasToby Tobias Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Huntington Station N.Y. based Toby Tobias has immersed himself in many American music genres while never leaving behind his roots in the rhythms and melodies of his homeland. Toby is excited to be bringing his brand of African-infused American Global Music to the ears of listeners with some of Long Island's best and most accomplished musicians. Reviews:"Putting politics and the problems of Africa aside, this is a brilliantly put-together album of quality musicianship and songs each with their own identity and style all from a man who has not forgotten his life and musical roots. As they would say in Zambia (Bemba), "Zikomo" Toby."– Rory Stanbridge, FATEA Magazine UK"Tobias' palpable love of Africa informs the whole CD in a way that is powerful and moving. Though the album shows the traces of his musical background and influences - which is as it should be - it also sounds very fresh. That's a pretty rare achievement in music today."REACH OUT2017 Brand new ep from THE TOBY TOBIAS ENSEMBLE With Mike Nugent, Cosmo Mallardi, Jon Mele, and Richie Guerrero....The sound of Africa comes through loud and clear in the EP which gives a wonderful taster introduction to Toby's style of music."Rory Stanbridge. Share the Light. Spread the Light. Shine!LDS AND MEDIUM PODCAST BACKGROUND:I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short. All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story.Jesus Christ, our older brother, was a healer. He asked us to love one another. So let´s follow in his footsteps. Please join me on this journey, let´s make a community of strong spiritual LDS, or whatever religion you belong to, and all work together to make this world a better place. If you like what I do, then you can find me here:https://linktr.ee/ldsandmediumIf you have words of support or stories that you anonymously want me to share please write me at ldsandmedium@gmail.com. Good music inspires us, and we have heard numerous songs that are inspired from others, some are official remake, some are recreation of the classics, but majority are copy in the name of inspiration. I would rather not get in to this sensitive topic that has hurt great musicians like Pritamda, Anu Malik, Bappida etc.Things get tricky when you get inspired by your own good craft to create another one. R.D. Burman created 4 different songs on 1 hit tune, Anu Malik, Anand Milind and many more have done it too. Would you call it lack of creativity or doing what's tried and tested or leveraging on existing asset? Meet Brothers and Monali Thakur gave us really good number Cham Cham Cham in the Tiger and Shraddha starer Baaghi, this song has 329 million views only on YouTube. So, without doubt it's proven to be a superhit. To capitalise on the Navratri fever, they have come up with Shy Mora Saiyaan, which to me seemed inspired from Cham Cham Cham music. Original being far better.Monali acts as cupid in the song, apart from singing it, getting Tejaswini and Manjul together. Song starts with lines from popular Gujarati garba song and ends in Mandap where garba is happening. The song was released on 1-Oct and in a week it's registered close to 8 mn views.Shy Mora Saiyaan - https://youtu.be/vZNb8Yz5bsACham Cham Song - https://youtu.be/f6vY6tYvKGAHave you watched this song?
